I am sorry for the delay on replying to you guys. My goals were a bit to ambitious and unrealistic for what I had to accomplish.
Progress on the map went to almost zero when school started. (A little over a month ago.) I want to keep this update vague, but I hope to start up and get it finished. If you guys want to know specifically what I am working on, blablablablacla came up with a new quest system. I tweaked it a bit and now we have to redo all of the quests in every town. This task is very tedious. I'm about halfway through with part one of RotP II. (There may be two parts for it. It's undecided as of now.) I hope you guys can forgive my aforementioned failure to reach the goal I was intending to make. The map will be done, I just don't know when. Before the end of the year sounds the most realistic, just don't quote me on it.
Thank you for understanding! I hope to hear back from someone. I could possibly use help on various things, or I could just use your opinion or advice on some things. Anyways, ask and critique away!
Cool, I saw a let's play on the first one and thought it was one of the best maps I'd ever seen so I can't evan imagine how cool this will be. I'm guessing kind of like Wynncraft which was a pretty cool server.
Probably my favorite adventure map ever. I tried downloading 1.4.1 but the folder is empty. The link of 1.4 is broken. I've been meaning to play this again after a long time.
Hey Dark, is progress going to continue on RotP 2? I know there was school and based on other's comments I can guess you had a hard time, but since it's summer now, is there anything getting done? We haven't forgotten about you <3
Edit: I played through this once with a friend, we finished in about 5 hours. I also played it again by myself, and neither time have I been able to find the "tome written in an unreadable language" from the quest in Goldhaven library. Could you message me where it is and what it's called?
I probably shouldn't say this but we've redone the first map a bit for a new update that should probably clear up your issue and add a lot of new fun to the map. Will be done soon. To answer your first question the second map progress has started again and is continuing through the summer but like always, the finish date never feels close enough. So not much word on that but keep checking for when I might surprise everyone. I also thank you for your, and everyone else's support. It means a lot to me that people are still checking up on this even though I don't post that often about progress.

Hey 3Darkons, just wondering if the map has made much progress. I have never posted here, but I've checked this thread every few months after I finished the first RotP. The first one was amazing and I can't wait to play the sequel, but I'm not going to rush you, I just hope progress is being made.

Same here, although I have posted before. I hope you're doing well now that school has resumed and that we hear from you again soon.

Yes the map has made some progress since my last post. I actually read your post within an hour of you posting it but I kept trying to come up with a way to respond. I guess the best explanation is that I'm anxious to work on the map do to all of the new snapshots that are changing the game dramatically. We have had multiple cases when using a snapshot when things would break the map and set us back a few hours, days, or even weeks. A good example of this is when they came out with a snapshot that made all of the sign text blank. It was early in the development of the second map but we had to remake every sign since we didn't have a backup of the map. Since then we keep backups but it still sets us back quite a bit, and we tend to not want to work on the map directly when they are planning to release a new update. But we do play and test individual features and ideas in our own maps when they come out with snapshots as to not damage the map in anyway.

I am doing well, thank you. Keep in mind that I am only the lead on this project and am not the only one that works on it. But yes, school has started and I am taking 17.5 semester units in college (Like a full time job) and a full time job too, while holding a relationship leaves like 1 day every 2 weeks for video games, if you get what I mean haha. My friend that helps with a majority of the project is also taking a significant amount of units (More than me) and working a job as well. I still stand by what I have said before when I said that the map will be finished. I have sunk hundreds of hours into the project and I would not like that to go to waste. I have thought about handing the project over to another group of people willing to do it but even while it would likely get finished faster that way, I honestly feel like it wouldn't do the story justice that we have developed for it.
I literally just finished building a new computer today, and Minecraft is finally playable. Many things put me off. Work, school, girlfriend, friends, other games, etc. The two biggest though besides work and school, were that all the 1.9 updates felt so foreign to me, and made it difficult to work on the map due to instability and it was hard to keep up with all the new features. Second, my computer had a beefy graphics card but a not so great CPU. Minecraft only uses your CPU so I would hardly ever get above 22fps on pretty low settings, making it difficult to play. What happened was I got a new 4 core processor that was great for games that used the cores well, but it was lower in processing power. I'd get the same fps in Farcry 4 that I did in Minecraft. Just tried Minecraft and on all possible maxed out settings I didn't drop below 60fps, and 1.9 is out and finally stable so both of those problems are now fixed.
I can't promise anything major in the next month or two to come, but I will say that we are going to 'try' and relearn all the new stuff in Minecraft and at least I will go back to creating the map. Not full time or anything, just a couple hours here and there, which I suppose is better than nothing. I'm also considering actually paying a person or two to build some high quality stuff on the map but we'll see.
I can also make some high fps videos and take longer range screenshots! Woo!
The map will be finished at some point, and thank you all who have been patient.

You have no idea how much I wanted to see this comment. I've been following the creation of this map since it began threeish years ago. Every once and a while I would check the forums here and on planet Minecraft hoping to see some new progress. The original Rise of the Pigmen map is to this day my favorite addition to Minecraft of any kind. I have probably finished the map five times and started it many more times. I understand that the content in that map, and most definitely in this map, require a lot of hard work. I hope you never abandon what you have done already, and someday I will be able to enjoy what you have worked hard to bring about.
Thanks Darkons.
So here we are in late 2017. I'll be honest and say minimal to no work has been made on the map. Probably even negative work has been made. My hard drive failed about 4-6 months ago, causing me to lose the latest copy of the map. Of course I have backups, but the latest backup was a bit behind the latest version. This has definitely put me off to finishing the map. Again, being honest here, I would love to finish this map but I'm not sure if that will be possible anymore. So, in an attempt to explore possible conclusions, I'm debating whether or not I should let someone else / the community finish the map, if they so want.
I would like to finish the map, I have a working story, but I've just lost motivation to complete it. If anyone reads this, I would like to know your opinion on what I should do. Whether it be to just retire the map, continue to try and work on the map any maybe complete it in the next year or two, or just give it up to community.
Note: I'm writing this at 11:45 pm in bed on my phone after a 10 hour day of college and other crap so if something seems off that's why.
Glad to hear from you again, dude. I just started college last week so I'm starting to understand the struggle :/
I'd love to help work on the map, and even take the lead since you finished the story. I would hate to see it stop here. Mapmaking has always been on my MC bucket list, but my problem was coming up with a story and getting the map started (Which you have done). Of course, I'd still like you to work with me, even if just taking a look every so often is all you have time for. I also have some friends who I could get to work with me as well, although I don't know how consistently they can help. If you have discord pm me your username and we can further discuss it there.
Well guys, good news I hope. Development of the map is going to officially start for the last time. If we are unable to finish it this time, it will be shelved permanently, or handed to the public. And thanks everyone for your support over the years.
