Here is our little highlight of this map! We loved this map alot! I have been playing it all day, and we plan on doing a playthrough of it! We did a quick one today to try it out, and we loved it! We had lots of fun! We didnt have lots of time so we thought we would just do a short video like this to highlight a map we actually really love! Keep it up!
This is a really fun map. As of late, my Minecrafting has been limited to watching LPs and occasional server activity, but this has got me to start single player again. The chests are the thing that really spice up the map. At first, I kept falling to my death and actually had to restart since I ran out of blocks to hop to. Never seen a map like this before but it's quite fun.
SkyGrid is a challenging survival map for Minecraft in the style of SkyBlock. It's formed out of a grid of random environmental blocks, with a gridlength of 4 meters. There are no rules, make whatever goals you want. Try and find the random chests and spawners placed throughout the map!
Notes:
The nether is also in SkyGrid form
The end is not in SkyGrid form
There's a single End Portal at x=0 and z=0, near the bottom of the map
Using the nether to escape the SkyGrid is cheating!
you should come up with achievements for it or challenges. that will make it more interesting and give the players a little more than to just survive.
Review Summary:
A clever survival experiment that really reinforces block management, observation, and planning. And jumping!
I really like this map as it forced me to THINK and PLAN!
I played...
Minecraft Ver: 1.2.4
Mode: Single player
Difficulty: Easy
Texture Pack: default
Mods Used: none
I started off jumping over to the nearest log and then breaking blocks above, then below until I couldn't progress any further.
Then over to where I could get to more logs and eventually stone and some coal.
As I built my floating platform out of junk, hunger became an issue that I couldn't solve.
I got to the point where almost everything useful was now out of reach and I had to rearrange my platform to get at more blocks.
I lost two blocks.
I probably should have made a bucket instead of the iron pick and used water to help navigate.
The mob AI stopped a skeleton from jumping off of his block and he eventually did me in.

Well, youtube finally stopped bugging on me. I don't know if this will be a lp or stay a First impression, either way, this map kicks ass and thanks for creating it!
I got the flowing water and lava problem, and thought "ok, I'll work around it" but when I jumped into one of the waterfalls, my game crashed, and now I can't open that save. What the heck could be the reasoning for that?
I guess I'll just restart with the modded version, but I'm afraid to jump into any water now.

I've never heard of this happening. Maybe you have a rogue mod on your hands.
So this is the first map I wanna download and use, but how do I install it/where do I put the files for it?
Look up "run" on your computer. Once you get that opened, type into the box "%appdata%". Look for ".minecraft" and open that. Look for saves, and then drag the file (The one with all the different unopenable files) into that saves file and you should be good to go!
