After driving from your home to meet your long-distance lover, a storm brews, and you are forced to take shelter. With nothing in sight for miles, you spot an old mansion in the heavy fog. Your car breaks down however, so you walk the rest of the way. The gate slides open and you walk inside. Behind you, the gates lock tightly. As you wonder who is inhabiting this house, a cart filled with interesting items is adjacent to you, opening it up, you realise your deepest and darkest fears have come into reality...
"Welcome to complete Isolation" - AppleSlinky
A Sight for Sore Eyes
Heed Warning to the Consequences
1. Play on at LEAST Easy. This is a haunted mansion, ater all. Let there be horrendous monsters lurking upon the hallways.
2. Do not alter the time and weather. The world must be kept in it's natural state, no matter how un-natural this mansion may be.
3. No placing blocks or destroying them unless told. It's an adventure map, but feel free to kick ass!
4. No fists? Yeah, sorry. You can't kill a monster with fists, your fear can only be overcome with weapons.
5. Certain settings must be used for creepy effect. Music should be full (unless using the ambience track, then MUTE), sounds on full, normal FOV, no changing view with f5 either, tiny render distance for fog effect and moody brightness.
6. You can ONLY place one torch, then remove it, due to the fact that held lanterns do not dynamically light up where you walk (lUnless you use the Dynamic Lights Mod)
Your Purpose Here
After being stuck here as your only option of shelter, you manage to get inside of the house, soaking wet. Once inside, you hear things through the walls, pondering and questioning your sanity. As you wander the lifeless hallways, you find various notes scattered around. These notes are essential to finding out the mystery holding the story of this here mansion, a love story not heard ever in the world. Your childhood nightmares have became a reality, and you must overcome the disturbing creatures that lurk the mansion's rooms. You may craft weapons from various found items left by it's last inhabitants (only durable items for fighting). There are two endings, one results in dying, and the other? Well, let's not spoil the fun, shall we...

Last words from Survivors
Joshofsouls1993's Last Request
Alright, I have to say, the map is definitely very creepy. I think the whole rainy start really adds to the "Trapped" feeling of it, and makes it pop. The graveyard was a nice little bit that wasn't TOO funny, Which didn't take away from the scariness of the map, and it still maintained a nice feel of horror when you read the graves.
I very much like the use of spawners to keep you on your toes, I found myself saying "OH GOD DAMMIT STOP THAT!" to the zombies a few times. I really like the story as well, it made me look forward to the next note.
Overall, I'll give this map a 8/10, just because I think the Outer design for the mansion COULD be a bit better.
appleslinky's Last Request
This map is amazing. The grim atmosphere and tragic storyline are very well executed in the map, and the feeling of actual survival is very well done. I was actually very relieved when I found a weapon to defend myself with, not just "oh that's helpful".
The story itself was very well done as well, with the telling of his experiences done very well. I feel the story could use a bit more emotion in it, but that isn't really urgent.
The only other problem I have with the map is that the outer design of the mansion could be a bit more extravagant or elegant, as it seems a little flat right now.
Overall, 9/10. Very well done map, albeit a little confusing at times. Well done!
A Helping Hand
While this map is COMPLETELY VANILLA, I do know of some advantageous mods that make the game feel more "alive" in a sense, not just the walls of the mansion, of course.
Dynamic Lights Mod:
Perfect for walking around the dark home, revealing enemies without the need to place a lantern then breaking it to pick it up. GET THIS MOD! It is like, 200% better, experience wise, and you will feel alot more enticed into the game.
Everyone hates when creepers ruin the fun. Exploding griefing is just ****ing annoying. I don't like it, and I'm sure you won't either. I insist you get this mod, just because I HATE map breaking. GET THIS ONE TOO IF YOU DONT WANT THE MAP BROKEN!
After two solid weeks of working on this map, I have finally allowed public access to download and try it out for yourselves to play. Give me a +1 for the hard work and leave a comment, no matter how small or big, it allows others to see it in the top of the forum
The texture pack is called Isolation by AppleSlinky. He is an awesome texturist, even being an admin for the Texture Artists Union which is a huge honour, and I have used his texture pack for my map. I highly advise you download it, and give him a +1 for his hard work and determination.
My map was first sprung into thought the day I became acquainted to the Minecraft Forums. After venturing in the various sections, I ended up in the Screenshots department, where upon I saw many beautiful mansion homes not unlike real life ones (In before Playboy comment). I had always had the idea etched into my mind from the first post I made here, yet never could do it due to my lack of enthusiasm.
A few months ago, I made a texture display map and got a reply from the creator of Isolation, AppleSlinky. As I toured and videoed the map, I realised it's gruesome atmosphere and remembered my mansion idea. Well, after coming back to his thread recently, many things changed, with mobs being implemented.
Today, I have started what is the beginning of Isolated Mansion. I hope to hear your feedback, both good and bad. I also hope that AppleSlinky approves, and make a good impression of his texture pack.

This actually looks really impressive so far, the atmosphere you are providing looks (and sounds) awesome. Definitely watching this thread.
Yay! I can't wait to see how it turns out, I'm going to "grief" it in sections once I have finished the wall outline and replace the air sockets with cracked stone bricks for that weathered look.
Got a two hour exam now (mfw it's done) then I come home, gotta love exam block, get to cut off alot of time from school and work on more important things.
Update: Cleaned up first post and added new pictures, and a Quest section outlining what is going to happen in-game. Also, vote for the poll please, would be greatly appreciated!
I voted on the second option for the poll, mainly because adventure maps are a lot of fun when you can read and discover the notes yourselves. It will also free up a lot of download space ;3

And love the new screenies, keep 'em coming!
I wasn't gonna add them to the download just the links to the videos on youtube, but yeah, veiwers choice I believe, otherwise the map would fel biased and I in turn would feel guilty (not a good thing). Was going to use the glass but I realised it would fit well, so I found another use! If I put then in a certain pattern it makes a [] shape with upside down stairs
So I added a news section and check out the Quests for the first letter into the story. Going to be pretty deep, I'm going to have my boice narrating the notes, if you are the kind of person who despises reading and rather listening.
Mansion is coming along nicely, Underground parking space? Done. Ground floor room outline and walls? Done. Furnishing the Ground floor roomes? In progress.
CHECK OUT THE NEW VIDEO! If anyone can help me, how do I enlarge the page and slowly scroll down so people can read it better? I'm sure some might struggle with reading it.
Should I have an audio AND a note version of them? In the case one does not want to listen to my irritating voice.

Actually, both the option of a note and the text file would work really well. To make the text slowly scroll down, I need to know what video editor you are using.
And your voice is fine, don't worry about that. Your tone you set is pretty nice, as well.
Also, final thing: Is the mansion going to have upper floors or whatnot? Perhaps more decorated walls/ a roof? Because having a flat roof and flat walls is a little bit boring. A gothic kind of roof would be awesome. If you have the time, that is.
EDIT: The font for Isolation is called Black Chancery.

I'm just using the default Movie Maker, that's the only experience with videos that I have. Like I said, I might get someone else to because I'm socially awkward, and my pitch and feeling doesn't really show.
Regarding the mansion, of course it's having multiple levels! What kind of mansion would have one floor? I'm thinking up to 3 or 4, and the roof will NOT be flat at all. Definately looking at some interesting haunted house photos for a good feel.
o if you need any testers message me. also whan u uplaod the map to midiafire plz make it a .zip not .rar
Thanks, I'm just not a great public speaker, always brings my grades down for it unfortunately, I balance it out through strong written assessment in English.
I'll PM you the map a day early if you would like and give me a quick review on what I've missed.

Adding to favorites now...
Made by lapischocolate (aka filbert_phang)! All credit to him!
Nice, it's 11pm where I am and I got exam block tomorrow so I get home early Bonus time to work on the map (only go for 2 hours ^.^)
I don't usually put them in spoilers, but since they turned out big, then yeah I should. Thanks!

I agree, I can't wait for it to be finished

I love maps with a nice horror feel to them when I get a little tired of playing multiplayer.
Maybe I could make this MP compatible, inb4 Yogscast...

And YES the kitchen area is open for a reason, there is going to be a balcony above it with a chandelier.
