Wow. There are some good videos on Youtube this week. First we had Vechz' video about Proximity Detecting Redstone Clocks connected to dispensers with spawn eggs in them. Then we had Etho's video about Hyperspawners (which are really dispensers loaded with eggs, not spawners). Now today we have Vechz' reaction to Etho's video and his own improvements on them.
People who have played my Frostbite Feudlands RFW map already know how deadly spawner eggs in dispensers can be. <Insert evil laugh here.> But I was kind. I only placed 9 spawn eggs in the dispensers setup this way because it really is easy to get overpowered using spawn eggs. Etho in particular pointed out how overwhelming they can be in his video when he spawned 64 Ghasts in about 16 seconds. Insane!
So, in the spirit of sharing I am making available three schematics: my Obsidian-Reinforced Treasure Room and my RFW Redstone Latch Bridge with optional Dispenser Add-on. Download links and screenshots are in the first post. Use them well!
I just uploaded a new version of Frostbite Feudlands - version 1.1. In my play testing, there was one point near the final wool with a dispenser full of instant damage potions. And when I mean full, I mean 9 x 64 Instant Damage potions. It was really too hard to get past so I have reduced it to a mere 9 potions so players can conquer the final area easier.
Now that Frostbite Feudlands has been out a while I feel free to talk about my purposes in creating it. I wanted a RFW map that:
Had lots of options for accomplishing the various tasks.
Do you go for the first wool from the start or run ahead to set off the traps and retrieve the diamonds?
Do you scale DeathTrap Tower to get the goodies or bypass it? How do you conquer it? Do you pillar up or use Enderballs?
How do you descend the volcano for the final wool? There's a reason I included Feather Falling boots but with all the lava around maybe water is a safer choice.
Included traps that didn't destroy resources but only slowed down the opposing team.
It is a race after all. All my traps either destroy chests with ready-to-go resources (like stacks of Coal and Iron Ingots) or make progressing through the level more difficult (like spilling lava over a path).
Progressively got harder.
The first wool is, quite frankly, very easy. It needs only one player and the biggest challenge is not drowning.
The second wool requires a lot more skill. A healthy supply of gravity blocks and skill with a bow are very useful. The chokepoint position of the castle means teammates will likely need to protect the player going for the wool.
The final wool is grueling. I hope you didn't use up all those Fire Resistance potions before now...
Included every resource so players could play it however they wanted and could recover from most mistakes.
(Spoiler!) Need a Fire Resistance potion? It is possible to acquire the materials from the map. Conquering DeathTrap Tower only makes brewing easier.
Slowed down players.
There's a reason I placed Sheep Spawners near Wolf Spawners. And Zombie spawners in the village. They're distractions! Again, this is a race after all. Players must remain focused.
Was lots and lots of fun.
I've included lots of custom chests with lots of overpowered weapons. Find them and have a blast! The best are a little out of the way, but they give the finder a definite edge against enemies and opponents. Can you find them all? You can't craft these items in-game.
(Spoiler!) A Stradivarius Bow with Power VI, Punch III, and Flame II.
(Spoiler!) A Death Scythe, a Golden Hoe with Fire Aspect III and Knockback III.
(Spoiler!) A Flak Jacket, a Diamond Chestplate with Protection V, which is one piece in a Soldier's Combat Uniform set.
So have lots of fun. Replay it and challenge yourself to gather the wool in different ways.
I would like to suggest a great destination for your recreational pleasure. Journey to the sunny shores of my RFW map, FROSTBITE FEUDLANDS!
Begin your tropical tour with a short stroll through the charming muck of the Dead Forest. Bask in the warm glow of the spider spawners as you pathfind your way to the Tri-Wizard Castle. The pets of our friendly neighborhood mad scientist will surely greet you there with open arms.
Next stop is the grand Roughsauce Castle. Built in 1.2, the castle sports glorious views of a nearby wool forest and Testificate Preserve. It is also the gateway to an unexplored natural beauty - the amazing Creepercicle Caverns, recently unearthed by nearby land development.
The final destination on your island journey is the majestic Mount Doom. A short trek across Frostbite Glacier, the discerning traveler can ascend its summit or delve below to a subterranean mystery. No one knows who built the secret tunnels and multiple fleecy boxes underground but no one should miss a chance to visit this enigmatic place. The only tantalizing clue to its creator is a single sign lit by LavaLight (TM): "Thank you Mario but our wool is in another fleecy box".
All this and more could be yours for only 99 0 emeralds. Don't wait, download today!
Most humbly, I await your reply.
