[RFW] Uncivil Engineering v1.5/v1.6 for Minecraft 1.5.2/Minecraft 1.6.2 (SMP)
by FifthWhammy
NEWS: If you're looking for the map, downloads are below. Not too many big changes, except for double food and knockback immunity boots (!!) in v1.6. Changelog.
Also, many thanks to the Yogscast, Bertie and GameChap for If you're here because you enjoyed the show and want to try Uncivil for yourself, you're in the right place! (And the map's updated, so you won't have to deal with those stupid respawning glitches.)
The RMCT Finals were held on this map a few months ago between RFW teams 3 Pros 1 Cup and Professional Minecraft Engineers, and the match was one of the best I've seen since I first released Uncivil Engineering almost one year ago. Videos are available on the RMCT#3 bracket here (under "Attachments", found by clicking to the left of the finals match).
Additionally, Uncivil Engineering is also part of the Champions of the Map title match series!
Do post here if you happen to encounter any problems!
--------
Overview
--------
This is my first RFW (Race for Wool) map. Designed for two teams of four players using Minecraft 1.3.2, Uncivil Engineering features two mirrored 8-block-wide parallel lanes full of challenging terrain and varied dangers. Amid the mobs and obstacles lie three dungeons, each of which will provide players with one color of wool. Bring all three wool blocks back to your Winner's Wall and complete it to claim victory. Unlike in some other RFW maps, resources are scarce here; in particular, there are only 10 diamond blocks available in each lane, and grabbing them will take considerable effort. To be successful on this map, your team will need to do some strategizing.
The three wool dungeons are as follows:
The 10,000 Block Pyramid: Navigate six darkened mob-friendly rooms cluttered with considerable riches. But the myriad gold ore may be more of a hindrance than a resource. The real prize? The Yellow Wool.
Curtain Call: Six lava walls lie directly between you and your goal. If you can get through the deadly liquid--and a handful of other annoyances--the Orange Wool is waiting for you.
Gridlock: Full of pitch-dark pitfalls, the final wool dungeon is actually non-linear. Find the three Obsidian Beacons and light each of them with redstone torches; only then can you claim the Red Wool!
Throughout the map, you'll find resources and items to assist you in both retrieving the wool and keeping your opponents from doing so. You'll also be presented with two unique opportunities to receive particularly valuable items:
Mutually Assured Generosity: Found between the Pyramid and Curtain Call, the smiling Mutually Assured Generosity Station contains storage carts with valuable items, including the map's only Blaze Rods. With just the press of a button, you'll be given one of those helpful carts. The catch: your opponents will get a cart too, and theirs will be slightly better! The MAG Station will dispense only one cart for each team for the entire match, so think carefully about pressing that button.
Bonus Vault: Floating at the very end of the lane, the Bonus Vault's storage carts hold the best loot on the map, including enchanted diamond armor and three Ender Pearls. Claiming it won't be easy--you'll need to build a bridge over nothingness to the Vault's exterior, where you'll need 24 redstone torches (and most likely a diamond pickaxe) to open the vault and claim your prize. However, only the first team to open the Vault will be rewarded--the second team won't get a thing.
Some screenshots for your viewing pleasure:

The opening stretch.
Just afterward, a steep drop. It's over 40 blocks--make your way down carefully! Also (partially) visible are the start of the 10,000 Block Pyramid and some caves with valuable ore.
Past the Pyramid, the Mutually Assured Generosity Station. Beyond it are Curtain Call and the bottom of a cavern area containing redstone ore, among other things...
A closer look at Curtain Call and its dangerous lava barriers.
After the cavern area, some trees and a small building which might've been powered by that bedrock pipe somehow. That pipe's broken now, but there just might be something waiting for you inside the fallen pipe piece...
Following the brick building and Gridlock, the final dungeon, the map comes to an end at the floating Bonus Vault. Will you try for its riches?
Special thanks to Vechs, the delightfully demented fellow whose Super Hostile series was the genesis of the Complete the Monument map genre, the direct ancestor of the Race for Wool concept. If you haven't tried those maps, do it! You won't be disappointed.
Also, thanks to Reddit's MCTourney subreddit, which inspired the creation of this map and served as the venue for this map's beta releases. In particular, thanks to ecarter32 and Freckleears for their reviews and criticism, which I used to help refine the map.

Changelog, copied shamelessly from the Reddit post:
Added six more redstone torches to the chest at the start of Gridlock.
The Bonus Vault bow's Power enchantment is back to Power V, instead of Power III; also, a 1:00 Regeneration II potion and 4:00 Swiftness II potion have been added to the Vault loot. (Normally, you can't get that high of a duration with 2nd tier potions!)
Shortened the output rails of the MAG Station in an effort to better protect carts against enemy cannons. Also shortened the output rails of the Bonus Vault for consistency's sake.
Removed the opportunity to trigger the Bonus Vault loot dispenser by disrupting the redstone with a water bucket. (Thanks, koipen!)
Moved up the pair of wooden signs at Curtain Call's first curtain to prevent the adjacent bedrock floor from sporadically catching on fire.
I intend for v1.1 to be the official release of the map for RMCT#2. There's been some discussion of using Minecraft 1.2; if that is the case, I may update the map once more if the 1.2 changes require it.
Good luck. Travel safe. The wool is waiting for you.
FifthWhammy, this is an amazing map. In case you didn't already know, we are going to play your map in the RCMT Throwdown tomorrow(thursday the 22nd). It's being live-streamed if you wanna watch :D. Once again, congrats on getting your map into the tournament, you did a fantastic job.

Here's the one you missed :-) There are links in the description of all the other perspectives, once they are up!

Hi FifthWhammy, I'm sure this is due to me being a noob but, when I load up the downloaded map it puts me in creative mode, is there a way to change this?
Also congrats for having the map on the Yogscast with Bertie and GameChap, can'twait to play it myself!!
I downloaded this map in 1.4.6 for my server, and when I got on the server, I spawned in a jungle. Do you have cords for the actual location of the map, or are you supposed to spawn directly on it?
Hello FifthWhammy, my youtube channel, Tadman1996, just recently uploaded a video of our playthrough of this amazing map, so I figured i'd put it here so everyone can see it!
There will be a link in the description as soon as the other viewpoint is uploaded, enjoy!

No. "Beyond it are A and B" is correct. "Beyond it is A and B" is not. A = Curtain Call; B = the bottom of a cavern area.
