Another Amazing Map!! Good job! Like Notch0s said, there are so many silver fish spawners..... got rid of like 3 of them... 16? Impossible... But this is a great and interesting map. I once got on top of the farm and ran around on the glass... then a cloud came and fogged up my vision so I fell off and died, losing half my items. But I still forge on :biggrin.gif: :laugh.gif:
Things I need help with:
Can't find 2 water sources to make infinite water pool (Found the first one)
Can't find lava to make Cob. generator.
Getting bones (I can't seem to kill skeletons because keep shooting me into the very raged terrain, and I die... I've also tried a mob spawner and no mobs spawn on it. Yes, I've completed the requirements, 25 (I think) blocks away, no light, and so on, but NO SKELETONS!! :angry.gif:
Although I have a lot of trouble, (lol) This is a pretty cool map. It's a challenge. I would recommend it to anybody.

Great
And some of the 16 spawners are silverfish, and the others are cave spiders! Suddenly silverfish aren't much of a problem. xD
The second water block is hanging from a cliff, was supposed to be a waterfall, but I forgot to activate it before publishing.
And you'll eventually find lava. Tip: look for sources of light though the glass at night!
Most things in this map are difficult, but not impossible!
first of all... thank you so much for the awesome map :biggrin.gif:
the antfarm is currently my most favorite map ever!
and I have tried LOOOOOOTTSSSS of adventure maps :tongue.gif:
suggestions, can you make the glass texture of the bedrock more see through?
I have seen texture packs with glass not having those dots in the middle,
all you see is the outline of the glass :tongue.gif:
people can see the details of your giant house much better with that texture :biggrin.gif:
another thing, I suggested this on youtube and you said it's a good idea...
I just thought I should also post this on the thread for other people to see :tongue.gif:
can you please use the dynamic heights mod and make a LARGER version of the antfarm? :biggrin.gif:
and if you do use the dynamic heights mod to make the map bigger / taller,
can you make the outside of the giant house be an actual seed / map instead of just flat grass?
the current situation outside of the antfarm is pretty dull because it is just flat
with no trees / mountains / grass etc, there is absolutely nothing outside the giant house
and if you dig down you fall into the void because there's just 1 layer of dirt :tongue.gif:
if the outside looked like a normal seed / map
then we could also live a normal life outside the ant farm :tongue.gif:
more variety of spawners:
there are way too many silverfish spawners and they aren't much of a challenge...
can you replace some of them with skeleton spawners and zombie spawners? thanks :biggrin.gif:
the cave spider spawners you added are pretty good, I love them :biggrin.gif:
more items:
can you add some sugarcane somewhere in the map? to make it a hard challenge,
you can hide a single piece of sugarcane beside a small water block
somewhere deep underground maybe near the cave spider spawners :biggrin.gif:
you could also add a single piece of cactus block somewhere in there
and a single piece of melon block and pumpkin block...
they would still be really hard to find if they are just 1 piece of each
and if you hide them deep underground :biggrin.gif: I also haven't found any mushrooms...
are there any brown and/or red mushrooms in the map? if not, please add some.
can you also place an end portal in there? I hope you add all of those in the future :biggrin.gif:
can you add more diamonds and redstone? so far I just found a few diamonds
and 1 block of redstone... I wish there was more :sad.gif:
maybe you can hide a treasure chest full of valuable items
somewhere in there as the ultimate / final goal? :biggrin.gif:
*** everything I have written above are all just suggestions and/or ***
*** feedback to further improve the current version of the Ant Farm ***
*** the map is already epicly awesome though so thank you very much ***
my experience / progress with the map:
do not read this if you are just starting out on the ant farm
because this may spoil the game for you and you won't enjoy the map much...
after I spawned i tried so hard to dig a staircase out of the dirt
to try and find the tree, and when I did find the tree it was dark
so I had to enclose myself on that part of the map to avoid mobs :tongue.gif:
after that i had a hard time trying to get to the stone down below O_O
I also saw a wolf somewhere :biggrin.gif:
I saw several pigs spawn on the grass but I didn't want to kill them yet,
I saw some water somewhere so I decided to punch some tall grass
and then I planted seeds near the water source to grow some wheat...
after I grew some wheat I bred the pigs and ate one of the parents lol
my health was 0 that time when I finally managed to eat :tongue.gif:
lucky I just set my game to easy :tongue.gif:
I found three sets of silverfish spawners within 16 blocks of each other,
I stood in the middle of them 3 and waited for silverfish to spawn
and then I just slaughtered them all to gain experience orbs :tongue.gif:
then I explored some more and found a pig spawner under the 3 silferfish spawners...
I figured I could use the pig spawner but it was deep underground
and pigs needed grass to spawn so it didn't spawn any pigs... :sad.gif:
what I did was first make a water elevator to carry the pigs up to the top...
then I made a dirt staircase from the top where the grass is going towards the spawner
so that grass will grow on the dirt path until it reaches the spawner,
when the pigs finally started spawning it was great, I had a good supply of meat :biggrin.gif:
after that I found the lava, getting there was tough
because of the horrible terrain and cave spiders kept falling on me O_O
I found lots of clay and iron on the way there though :biggrin.gif:
I really loved how you strategically placed the spider spawners
so that the spiders fall on you when you are near the spawners :tongue.gif:
I also like how you placed cakes near the spawners but I think it is excessive,
maybe you could've just placed 1 piece of cake at each spawner instead of 4+ cakes :tongue.gif:
I also liked how you placed floating sand somewhere down there,
I actually made a mistake placing a torch and it all fell on me O_O
I also found gold and diamonds but sort of too few,
I am not sure if there are more of them somewhere down there, I hope there are more :tongue.gif:
and up in the tall hills underground, I just managed to find 1 piece of redstone block :sad.gif:
I now have some iron, gold, diamonds, clay, sand, 2 water buckets and a lava bucket...
I plan on making an obsidian generator so I could make a nether portal
but I would probably continue playing tomorrow :tongue.gif:
and oh, I forgot to check out your objectives list,
I will probably check that out tomorrow :tongue.gif:
I may have done some of them already though LOL
anyway, I edited this post so it didn't mention where each item is at :tongue.gif:
first of all... thank you so much for the awesome map

Happy you like it so much
suggestions, can you make the glass texture of the bedrock more see through?
I have seen texture packs with glass not having those dots in the middle,
all you see is the outline of the glass
I personally don't think the dots in the middle interfere all that much. I did test it with only the outline, but it didn't look...solid.
use the dynamic heights mod and make a LARGER version of the antfarm?
I can make a larger version of the Ant Farm without the mod! I could make a bigger one that would extend all the way to the floor of the house. How bout that?
can you make the outside of the giant house be an actual seed / map instead of just flat grass?
I wanted to do that, but considering land level is about at y 64, all the terrain would be at the height the window.
the current situation outside of the antfarm is pretty dull because it is just flat
with no trees / mountains / grass etc, there is absolutely nothing outside the giant house
If you stay in the Ant Farm, the game won't render anything much further from the window. That's why I kept from making too many details outside.
if the outside looked like a normal seed / map
then we could also live a normal life outside the ant farm
Easter egg:
Open the map in MCEdit. Go wayy beyond the huge house into terrain that was already generated. The real-sized house I used in the video is in the map!
It was meant that when you returned from the nether you appeared right next to the real house. I guess that only happens in multiplayer though.
there are way too many silverfish spawners and they aren't much of a challenge...
can you replace some of them with skeleton spawners and zombie spawners? thanks
And silverfish are the closest things to ant that the game has got xD
But I agree, in the hardcore version I will change them to charged creeper spawners. If that's possible.
Either way, don't expect to play for too long in the hardcore version. #evilface
I hope you add all of those in the future
I probably will!
can you add more diamonds and redstone? so far I just found a few diamonds
and 1 block of redstone... I wish there was more
There are supposed to be 2 redstone ore blocks.
I could add more, but much of the challenge is to rationalize and not waste extremely limited resources
maybe you can hide a treasure chest full of valuable items
somewhere in there as the ultimate / final goal?
I think that might take out the natural feel of things. Isn't diamond an ultimate goal?
*** the map is already epicly awesome though so thank you very much ***
then I explored some more and found a pig spawner under the 3 silferfish spawners...
oops. Pig spawner wasn't meant to be there. That's a spawner I forgot to set. lol.
maybe you could've just placed 1 piece of cake at each spawner instead of 4+ cakes
That ain't cake, that's sugar!
Cuz, yknow, ants like sugar or something. lol.

If you stay in the Ant Farm, the game won't render anything much further from the window. That's why I kept from making too many details outside.
my actual idea is:
if you use the dynamic heights mod the sky limit will be high
so you can simply just paste the whole antfarm on top of a normal seed
so after you do that, the outside of the giant house
will be a real actual world with trees, mountains, everything
instead of just a barren grass flat map :tongue.gif:
it's just my idea though, it's your call :tongue.gif:
Easter egg:
Open the map in MCEdit. Go wayy beyond the huge house into terrain that was already generated. The real-sized house I used in the video is in the map! :biggrin.gif:
It was meant that when you returned from the nether you appeared right next to the real house. I guess that only happens in multiplayer though.
that's a nice thing :tongue.gif:
I don't install any mods or mc edit etc though
but I might try to find that normal house in a vanilla way O_O LOL
And silverfish are the closest things to ant that the game has got xD
But I agree, in the hardcore version I will change them to charged creeper spawners. If that's possible.
Either way, don't expect to play for too long in the hardcore version. #evilface
oh,, silverfish were meant to be ants? now I get it lol
maybe you could retexture the silverfish to look like red ants??
but still there could've been at least one or two zombie and skeleton spawners :tongue.gif:
a charged creeper spawner? that would destroy the beautiful map in one explosion :sad.gif:
thanks, that means you are going to add a sugarcane,
cactus, pumpkin and melon block somewhere in there right? :biggrin.gif:
and the end portal please...
maybe you can add that somewhere outside of the antfarm for a final challenge?
maybe on top of a high shelf inside the giant house?
getting up there would be a challenge specially if you put a skeleton spawner on top,
you will fall if they fire arrows at you :tongue.gif: that would be an epic adventure LOL
we have lava and water in the antfarm so we can make obsidian for a nether portal,
all we need is an end portal for the antfarm to be an actual full adventure :tongue.gif:
There are supposed to be 2 redstone ore blocks.
I could add more, but much of the challenge is to rationalize and not waste extremely limited resources :biggrin.gif:
ok, I agree there, you can add more redstone though but don't add more iron etc,
it will be the players choice if he wants to use the iron for armor or for pistons :tongue.gif:
about the diamonds, only reason I asked for more is because
all I could make was a diamond pickaxe for obsidian collecting
I wasn't so sure what to do with the left overs because they were too few...
so yeah, I guess the amount of diamonds are ok...
I think the diamond pick is the most important :tongue.gif:
I think that might take out the natural feel of things. Isn't diamond an ultimate goal? :biggrin.gif:
I was thinking of the treasure chest to have like
jukeboxes, music discs, cocoa and saddles...
things that you can't get inside the antfarm :biggrin.gif:
sort of similar to what you get in dungeons :tongue.gif:
oops. Pig spawner wasn't meant to be there. That's a spawner I forgot to set. lol.
it wasn't meant to be there? awww.... I actualy liked it a lot...
I thought it was a good challenge because it was deep undeground,
I had to make grass grow there before I could even use the spawner lol
and I also had to make a water elevator for the pigs
because the spawner was quite deep underground :tongue.gif:
maybe you could just leave that in the antfarm
for an extra challenge? I liked the Idea :tongue.gif:
OMFG THIS LOOKS SO FREAKING AWESOME! That must have taken a lot of work..... AS SOON AS I BUY MINECRAFT I WILL PLAY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as soon as you buy minecraft?
do you mean you don't have minecraft at all?
but you have 64 posts on a minecraft forum
so you have to be playing minecraft...
do you mean you play on crack?
I mean you're on crack...
wait, that still sounds bad...
I mean are you playing minecraft on crack?
ok, nevermind. I give up...
I hope you understand what I mean
because there is minecraft crack... :tongue.gif:
Ok! I'll soon start working on version 2 of this map.
For those who have already started playing on the current version, don't worry, this will be a rather small update to iron out a few issues and add a few new challenges.
Don't let this hold you off from playing the current version ;D
Planned bug-fixes:
-Fix floating water block
Planned new features:
-Add sugar cane
Planned changes:
-More varied spawners (i.e. Creepers, skeletons)
-Ant texture to silverfish
-Add diamonds to more places
-Less iron
-More redstone
Planned new achievements:
-Find and harvest sugar cane
-Make a book
-Make a bookshelf
-Make an Enchantment table
I have no plans to add an end portal yet.
Half of the challenge of getting to the end is to find the stronghold. And I think It's way too small for that to work.
Maybe I do once I make the huge version.
Also, I said nothing about removing the hidden pig spawner.
Keep suggestions coming, I can still implement them!
v2.1 changes:
-I can't believe I had actually forgotten to add sugar cane. Or maybe something knocked it out before I published. Either way, sugar cane is actually present now. Hooray.
-Cows! You need lots of them to make a cake. I forgot animals no longer randomly spawn during the day, instead they just spawn with the map and that's it. Added 2 cows.
v2.2 changes:
-Changed the sign on top of the bed that gave a bit.ly link.
It takes to the epilogue video, and it's pretty neat :]
For all 35 of you that did download v2.1:
That sign is incorrect and will take to a nonexistent video. Make sure you open up the spoiler on the bottom of the main post once you see that sign.
