This sounds really neat. You mentioned they would be open-world, so I'm just curious if you mean like a second, smaller CTM map at the end of this one, or just one really big area with one objective in each. Either way, this map sounds amazing, and I can't wait for it.
I didn't finish the map on my playthrough (mostly because I'm using a really awful original macbook and my computer melted unless I had the view distance at two chunks), but I actually recall that area being really easy. Like, easiest area in the map. Not even kidding. Ender Pearls helped though, yea, thanks tree_two.
Oh! And about the record...
You'd have to be really unlucky to get it blown up. There's a TON of creeper spawners around it, but it should be easy enough to get around them and just take the record with no issues. If you just rush in mindlessly then you might lose it, but just don't do that and you'll be okay, okay?
The first time a skeleton shot a creeper in the spawner room before I got down there.
The second and third times I was nowhere near the spawner room (though I might have been near as the crow flies). It was just a random explosion and suddenly everything was gone
Well, Behind the Curtain was a big area, with a troll record room. Hope that helps without spoiling anything. In retrospect, given the lack of ability to communicate hijinks to the player in older versions of the game, probably wasn't the best troll.

I just started an LP of VFII, one of my favorite maps of all time. I'm trying to take it somewhat slow and really enjoy the experience, just like old times. I'd appreciate any feedback. Enjoy!
Also, really looking forward to VFIII. I know it's going to be great!

Hi, huge fan here, and I know you will finish the map whenever you are able to and I will love it no matter what, but is there any date I should look forward to?

I honestly have no idea when it will be complete. I want to finish it as soon as possible but, it ain't done until it's done.
Hey Half-a-stack!
I have been playing your maps for a while and just completed all of them. I personally like VFI the most. Making maps difficult by not adding more spawners, but starving the players for resources is much more enjoyable in my eyes. I have been watching some of your stuff on the tubes and saw that your VF Dev Com was in version 1.2. I can't find that version anywhere and I would like to play it with a bit more difficulty and changes.
(btw, nice area you posted on the CTM community thread. I really love the block variation. :P)
I think the only difference between the version available and the one I played was the troll pyramid. I only made that because I was tired of everyone saying the pyramid was full of iron and once you go there it's basically map over. Probably not the best way to respond to player feedback so, somewhere down the line I switched back to the previous version. I'd have to search for the troll pyramid version, wasn't the best at keeping track of different files back then.

Hey everyone! I've decided to go back to one of the bests and play VFI in Minecraft v1.1. Those jumping, strafing creepers, Man! Again, just want to say thanks to Three_two for all the wonderful work. I look forward to what VFIII has to offer.

I actually like that there are iron blocks in there. It's not making things more difficult, it's saving you some tedious mining time. Maybe the pyramid should have been not directly connected to the starting island. I did all the those areas first, because they seemed the easiest to me. You wouldn't put the harder areas where you can have them as your first area. Put the easy areas around the spawn and put the harder areas behind them. That's at least my opinion on it. I dunno how you think 'bout it.
I think it's fair. It is a lot of iron close to the start of the map but, map is fairly brutal especially if you consider all the potential inventory wipes. I have no idea what was going on in my mind as far as layout of the map was concerned. Too long ago. Compared to how carefully I plan every little detail now, VFI was just a bunch of level ideas connected by dirt islands. I was super inspired by Nightmare Realm at the time which was also kind of all over the place as far as layout and progression were concerned. Of course, VFI and VFII were both completed in around 3 months compared to over a year in dev for VFIII, not including previous scrapped attempts in 2013-ish.

Hopefully a number of these new big CTM's are coming out in summer at least: VFIII, Ragecraft III, maybe even Simulation Protocol 03, UT4, Titan's Revolt and Septum Immoriel. Above all I'm most excited for VFIII, the screenshots look so good so far for the most part. Intersection 1 looks pretty normal to me however - I don't know if the Blackwater Lake or Spectre Gorge places are in Int.1, but honestly they look pretty bland to me as well. However all the other screenshots are just wow. I can't wait to try out Psylotribes that place looks amazing. Keep it up three_two!

Those areas are all intersection one. The beginning of the map has very minimal block and color pallet as well as fairly simple overall design. This creates a mood and theme for the start/intersection 1. It's supposed to make the reveal/entrance into intersection 2 pop even more with all its colors and lighting. The whole map has a design progression for each intersection and set of connecting areas. If it works out the way I intend it to, the map should consistently blow the player's eyeballs out of their sockets everytime a new area is discovered.
Or, maybe the first intersection isn't that impressive, idk. I concentrate on visual aesthetics a lot less than people think I do. This map is all about level design and gameplay. Aesthetics are just a there to enhance these things a bit.

I don't know if it's just me, but my hype for this map gets bigger and bigger every day. I just went through and replayed VF2 and I nearly forgot how much I love that map. I know it takes an insane amount of time to make these and get them exactly how you want, but I want it so bad ;-;
side note: the more I think about it, the more I realize how great the name Vinyl Fantasy is for a map series of this sort. Is there any creative area in which you do not excel as a genius, three?
Programming. I wish I was better/had started earlier with learning programming. I got street smarts though, and that's enough to get by.
I've learnt my lesson with xycraft to never trust a word of what a dev says till I get proof. I agree with Eeriewolf
Unless I die an unexpected death, VFIII will be released. However, if there is no map, say in 6 months or so, I have most likely passed on, and you should press F to pay respects.

Also, 32 you should convince Cil to stream VFIII.

I don't care about the Xs. You can call me Navarog. Or Nava if you really want to be a hipster. It's fine.

Rumor has it that if VF3 gets done, Zisteau might play it

I'm sure it'll get done. He seems awfully close to finishing it hence the changes to this thread and his responses recently.
