Thank you for that, I needed the extra blocks. It sure made block collecting a whole lot faster and easier to do.
I was trying to do do Transparency with my usual no TNT rule and I found a big flaw with those ghast spawners.
Just place 4 columns of water like so and no ghasts will ever spawn.
Fortunately, the proximity thing over and below the cage didn't activate. Those spiders where too busy climbing on the wall to even attempt to activate what they were supposed to. I ended up bridging below the deactivated ghast spawners and grabbing what I came to collect without making a huge mess... however, the water I poured down did mess up some floating lava source... but it didn't mess my road, so this wasn't a problem.

My base of operation :
This is my usual setup.
This is for high enchantments. I'm probably never gonna use it.
My current equipment :
Alchemy Chest :
Absolutely perfect. I hate splash potions : you can accidentally use them, they lose 1/4 of their duration and you lose a bit more even if you splash it in your face. I replaced all the potions with extended normal potions.
Material, Ore & Arrow Chest :
Perfect. I got a good amount of diamonds that will certainly last for the rest of the map.
Block chest :
Much better. It's crazy what one efficiency X pickaxe can do.
Map Chest :
Complete or almost complete. I'm still missing 10, 11 and 12. I'm not even sure if they even exist, really.
Weapon, Tool & Armor Chest :
I should probably explain the enchantments on all of this : Everything on the left side was loot that I found and everything on the right side is stuff that I enchanted myself. All the tools on the right have Efficiency 1, all the swords on the right have Sharpness 1 (the top one also has Knockback 1), the diamond armor on the right has Protection 1 (but the chest has Projectile Protection 1).
Miscellaneous Chest :
The usual for the miscellaneous chest. Those pumpkins are really useful indeed. Also, the crazy amount of golden apple is slowly dropping. I mainly use them to refill my saturation bar when I come back.
Junk chests :
Lots of crappy splash potions and 2nd grade loot stuff. I used quite a few of those crappy potions. I might as well, since I got better potions on stand-by.
More random crap and 3rd grade loot stuff.
My farms :
Wheat farm :
With Sticky pistons, dispensers and redstone, I decided to make an automatic wheat farm that uses bonemeal. I also made a few modifications to make it slightly smaller and I added water in it to keep the dirt ready to be used.
Pumpkin and melon farm :
Because why not. I don't really need the melons, I got a lot of them already and they are one of the worst food you would ever want to use. The pumpkin however are just to make sure I never run out of them.
Cobblestone generator :
There's not much cobblestone around here and if I ever run out, I can just get some more right here.
I made the back out of obsidian this time because I have access to it and because it is the ultimate protection for a cobblestone generator. I'm 100% sure I wont mine obsidian and make lava leak out everywhere.
Skeleton farm :
This trap is automatic. They spawn, they drown, I take the stuff. I can also attack their feet to get exp/bows, but I can't use my exp right now. I could however use another power 1 bow. I can also deactivate it by going up ladders and placing a torch inside the room right on the middle spawner.
Blaze farm :
Not worth making this trap automatic. At least now I can use it safely even at night.
Ghast farm :
This has become a habit with me. Must. Make. Ghast farm. They're fun to use, you just need to punch their fireball back and they die.
Magma cube farm :
Because why not. As soon as I remove the water, tons of magma cube spawns. If you kill the big and medium ones, you can get magma cream. I wonder if the fact that the small ones doesn't drop any magma cream is a bug or not.
Netherwart farm :
I made this just to make sure I don't waste the 9 netherwart I found. Turned out to be a good idea since I used 11 so far and I still have this up.
The first couple of records shouldn't be too difficult to get, so as to draw the player in, and then steadily increase the difficulty in each area. That's just simple game design, might wanna read up on it a bit.
That's a common misconception about game design, especially common amongst CTM mapmakers. A gradual curve like the one you described is boring and will always lose the player's interest before the end of the game. It is much better practice to grab the players attention with an action packed intro, then take them down, let them re-group. Now bring it back up slowly then peak the action just a bit more intense than the intro. Now bring it back down again. Intense periods of action must be followed by relaxation and rest. Each time you bring the action back it should gradually increase yes but, the game designer has to bring it back down. Now you can escalate these peaks and valleys of intense action and rest on a steady incline, building towards a climax and then bring it back down one more time before the game is over. That's called pacing...and that's how a game should flow.
For example:
Imagine eating one delicious cookie. Mmmm tasty.
Now two cookies. Mmm twice as delicious.
Now three. Mmmkay, still pretty good.
Four, five, six. These cookies aren't as good as they used to be.
Seven, eight, nine. I'm getting burnt out on cookies.
Ten eleven cookies??!??! These cookies are making me sick!
Now try again:
Eat three cookies at the same time. Holy balls that was awesome!
Now don't eat any cookies for a few days. Man I can't wait to get my hands on some more cookies!
Now eat one cookie. Yes! Oh how I missed the taste of cookies!
Now two, then three, then FOUR cookies. OMG I didn't know cookies could take me so far into the realms of ambrosia!
Now no more cookies for a while. Okay now to do some push-ups and sit-ups and burn some calories!
Now starting with two cookies, quickly work your way up to five. This cookie thing just keeps getting better and better!
So on and so forth until you reach a delicious cookie climax. Then bring it back down with a glass of milk and a nap.
Notice the number of exclamation points in my cookie pacing curve as opposed to yours.
Much more exciting. Now that's pacing bub. Game design at its best, in delicious cookie form!
This map carefully follows this pacing curve to the best of my map making abilities (granted, it's a survival resourcing game so it's hard for the mapmaker to control the difficulty in later stages of the game resulting in the potential for a little less climax at the end.) Sorry you didn't enjoy my map. This map is clearly not for you. As a player, you have all the right in the world to decide that. But, as a player, one who hasn't experienced a game's design in its entirety, you have no right to tell the developer about his lack of knowledge in the area of basic game design. Not to be snarky or overly defensive, just giving you a little something to "read up on."

My spoiler-free progress in one sentence :
I found 2 disks and I only have 2 left to get.
I'm pretty sure I fixed that Ghast spawner trick in the latest version of the map. You're playing the 1.0 release me thinks eh?
Thought spoilers would be more appropriate, wouldn't want to spoil the first part << >> But,
I really love the area. Definitely outcompetes normal generated swamps by a infinite percentage. The torchs are nice, that
they highlight areas of importance. But, just wondering now. At the sub-area are we not suppose to tackle it, right away? Just
the ghast spawner was a nice surprise and sadly not enough quick reflexes of placing swords and deflecting of the fireballs lead to a quick
and sad death.
Death Count: 2 (Fell from a tree. lol)
The swamp sub area should have all the resources you need to complete the next sub area, ultimately leading you to the next and getting you closer to the record objective
Just had a harrowing experience in the Passion of the Argus.
After speedily making my way through the Return to the Valley of Rolsa (I had to restore to a backup because of an embarrassing and failed attempt to make a mob farm), I arrived at the cat's castle. Gold armour, check, golden tools, check, golden and iron swords, check, food, blocks, bow and arrows, speed potion, check. I began to rush through, taking the right-hand side path again. First, I dug through the wall in the first room to take out the spawners, then I lit the floor and advanced.
Then, in the second room, I ran along the upper side of the room with my Unbreaking X golden pickaxe, taking out the skelly spawners.
I then moved into the third room with the loot chest, and supplied myself from that.
Then I began to psyche myself to rush into the fourth and final room, the one with the crazy amount of spawners. I ate some steak, then sprinted in. Instantly shot by skeletons and hurt by creepers. I managed to block myself into the birdcage room, half a heart left with a skeleton close behind, one shot from killing me. My heart was pumping insanely - adrenaline was rushing through my veins.
However, I survived, and made it out using a speed potion. I returned to the JBM via the shortcut, and safely placed cat in its slot.
Really enjoying the map three_two, Passion of the Argus was an awesome dungeon. However, I think you should add more paintings - they look really nice in this dungeon.
Next step - Ancient Visitors in Area Two.

Review: To start, let me just say that this is the first challenge map I've ever played. Considering that, I think I'll have to play more. It was genuinely enjoyable, even if it made me want to throw my computer out the window several times. For one thing, the entire map looks amazing. Three_Two, you clearly have great artistic talent. At the same time, you're also the most brutally evil ******* I've ever heard of. Seriously, if I ever hear a Ghast cry again, I'm probably gonna go on a psychotic rampage. Oh, and lava bubbling. And items sizzling. And fire crackling. And Blazes... I don't even know how to describe Blaze noises. Clanking? However, I enjoyed the challenge. Regular Minecraft has become a bit boring to me, so I really liked this map. Being frustrated is WAAAY better than being bored. Keep up the good work, Three_Two, then go die in a fire LIKE I DID A MILLION TIMES.
&--#62;To start, let me just say that this is the first adventure map I've ever played.
&--#62;that this is the first adventure map I've ever played.
&--#62;first adventure map I've ever played.
&--#62;first adventure map
&--#62;adventure map
Oh, I'm sorry, I don't know the terminology. What part of totally-unfamiliar-with-this-kind-of-map-and-only-ever-played-normal-minecraft-before-now did you not understand? Besides, I thought adventure map was just a sort of catch-all term. I see now that I'm wrong, but since you failed to provide the correct term, I just changed it to "challenge map".
When I make a mistake, I'd prefer it if you told me the correct thing instead. Because what you've done here is just unhelpful, and I've dealt with plenty of that from the map itself, I don't need it from you.
I slowly collected wood from the docks of the island while avoiding skeles (they are so annoying to fight from the water). I decided to wait it out until the next day. I started up a defense system against spiders. Eventually I got a good foothold on the island, so I went to area 2 to grab a ton of stone, wood, dirt, seeds and iron. I ended up with more iron than I knew what to do with, so I made an iron golem and a gazillion (that's not really a word, but whatever) iron tools and buckets (still looking for lava though). The cave spiders guarding the iron were no problem. I rushed in and quickly lit up the spawners, so not even 1 cave spider managed to spawn. At base I made another defense wall, a floating tree farm and wheat farm and a nice lookout platform. I went to see what area 3 was all about and saw a nice looking treasure chest sitting in the sunlight. Before I looked in the chest I noticed spawner particles, so I dug up and destroyed a zombie spawner. BOOM! I didn't take any damage from that trap at all, but it sure made me jump 10 feet in the air.
HOURS OF GAMEPLAY: ~2.5 Hours
NUMBER OF DEATHS: 1
1. Ran out of food bar and got down to 2 hearts, jumped off the lookout platform to reset my food and hunger.
NUMBER OF DISKS: 0
CURRENT LOCATION: Spawn
HOLY %@#& MOMENTS: 2
1. Near the start, I had 3 creepers, 4 skeletons, 2 spiders and a zombie chasing me in the water. The skeletons shot all of the other mobs, making them fly at my face. It was fun I guess.
2. The trap mentioned above.
I swear to God this guy needs 1000000 subscribers! I can't stand the fact that people dislike his videos, because he is like TobyGames. TobyGames is like LembleyPlays xD

My spoiler-free progress in one sentence :
I finished the map.

Update Log #1:
I will post some pics soon.

I bet I'm the only person on earth with that opinion.
C'mon people he is way more entertaining than most LP'ers he claims to suck but he gets things done! (eventually) Unlike these people who are posting about how the maps are "too hard"

I swear to God this guy needs 1000000 subscribers! I can't stand the fact that people dislike his videos, because he is like TobyGames. TobyGames is like LembleyPlays xD

Sorry about the double post, I am new to forums and how they function.
Three_two if you can delete that last post, that'd be great.
