The idea to make a map with a goal of completing a monument is completely taken from Vech's "Super Hostile" Series of maps. I used his method of capturing wool in my first map and used his toolkit in some areas of my Colossal Cavern map. Maps after the Colossal Cavern will have the goal of collecting the 11 different types of Music Discs. Colossal Cavern
Difficulty: Very Easy | Easy | Medium | Hard | Very Hard | Intense Description

(I've done it before.) eeeeh let me think oooh yeah! a way to win?
dude what the **** man this map ain't fun, this cavern would be awesome as a final dungueon, but not with a wooden pick+ sword ! spawners without torches????? that ain't working
2X white wool after monument and at begin
Calm Down, here is a quick strategy to start out.
Spoilers!
Quickly run to the glowstone sandstone area.
Find the victory monument.
Take a breather/sleep if it is night.
The spawn is right the area with fences, make a path to it.
This part is difficult, but after this it is easy: You need to get wood from the tree. (And saplings).
I recommend just keep running until you successfully climb a water stream.
I know the beginning is hard, I made it to be this way.
However, it is not impossible.
I have gotten through the beginning multiple times.

You probably wouldn't like the final dungeon... it is really, really hard...
i love hard dungeons but only if i have stuff not a wooden sword...
getting up there???? are u crazy?
The key to the beginning is not hiding, quickly.
Again big spoiler here
The jutting out area that have fences on top of it and a big glowstone arrow going down is right above the spawn point
The best strategy I can recommend is to do things in this order.
1. Get wood.
2. Make a safe area.
3. Explore main cave for resources (I hid things like mushrooms and melons in this cave).
Also, a last note to many of the people who plan on playing this map:
The map is fully playable and beatable in it's current state. However, I believe it to be unbalanced. I will be playing through it myself to fix it.
You know, "Victory Monument" is copyrighted by Vechs. I suggest finding another name for it.
You can't copyright a name, and I sincerely doubt Vechs has a registered trademark (and the name is made up of generic terms, so the trademark wouldn't be valid, anyway)
These MAPS are provided freely and may be decompiled and modified for private use, either with a decompiler or a bytecode editor. Public distribution of modified versions of these MAPS require advance written permission of the OWNER and may be subject to certain terms.

Whether it be official or not, he'd still rather (yes, he has posted this before) any CTM makers come up with their own name for their monument, altar, or whatever. So while you could use 'Victory Monument', out of respect for the CTM genre creator, using something else is a viable option.
Anyways, I like my maps hard (giggity) so I'll give this one a go, since everyone seems to be going "Too hard! T_T"
I've beat 3 of Vechs maps on Hardcore, and I run a tiny little ROMhack hard CTM series. But getting past just that first, large open area...dang man, that **** is bananas. I managed to secure up to the area around dungeons 12 and 15, but I'm like, lost as to what to do. T_T And out of curiosity, why did you have the giant spawners? They've never worked, so are they just for effect? Oh, and a small bit of important information - remove the level.dat old, session.lock, and spc.settings from the download.
I love this map, it's just awesome. This is probably the hardest map I've played so far, I haven't finished it yet but I will... eventually :tongue.gif:
I'll post some progression updates soon.

Try making a video game and naming it "Battlefield" then. Battlefield is a generic term. "Call of Duty" is a generic phrase. So is "Elder Scrolls". Please do not give people incorrect information.

Over 1000 Subs!
Of course you can break blocks (if not, you can't even get out of the starting area).
Speaking of starting area, very nice - I just want to keep these guys as pets.

Oh really? I'll change it then...

As cam said, these are generic terms and thus cannot be trademarked.
Cool!

WHAT?!
Danger zone.

(Oh, and CTM is "Complete the Monument")
Vechs himself says you can make a CTM map, as long as you add [CTM] to the start so people can find it.
