"One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!" ~Winston Churchill
Ever woke up one day with a pick in your hand, doomed to the ol' well-lit mineshaft safely tucked away in your basement, just thinking "is this what minecraft was meant for? Eat, sleep, mine, repeat?" Welcome to the Ruthless Regions.
In these maps, you can craft and place blocks like normal minecraft. Imagine this as normal minecraft, only with a goal to work towards - completing the Dominion Monument - and a constant thirst for your blood.
General rules:
1. Survive in any way you can think of.
2. Do not use cheats. (Flymod, spawning blocks, etc.)
3. Always use at least easy difficulty, never peaceful.
4. Find and complete the Dominion Monument, a prestigious structure with slots to place unconventional blocks
5. You may craft the ore blocks, but wools have to be found in chests
Difficulties: Easy: Should be difficult to complete, but not impossible. Lots of supplies are given, monster spawners are exposed. Medium: This should be a challenge. Not all monster spawners are exposed, few supplies are given. Hard: This map will take time and cunning to complete, and you will die frequently. Hostilities will begin from the beginning. Few to no supplies are given, cave spider and blaze spawners will be frequently encountered. Progressive: The map will start off at an easier difficulty, and the further you go, the harder the map will be.
Map Styles: Open World: The map is an open map, where you decide what to do and where to go. Linear-Branching: The map will provide intersections leading to different areas, but you'll encounter each intersection in a row. Linear: You have little to no decision on what direction you can take, each area will be encountered after the next. Survival Island: Island-Based map with limited land space and resources.

Now, time for the maps.
Ruthless Regions 01:
Difficulty: Hard Unfair
Map Style: Survival Island
A harsh, desolate island. Scarce of resources, your first experience will not be towards completing the monument... but surviving. [This was my first map I've made - play Cutthroat Caverns if you want a chance to complete the monument.]
I've always enjoyed survival island maps, and a video series about one was what made me start playing minecraft in the first place. In my love of the [CTM] genre, I've decided to create an island of despair, the Malicious Isle, with an actual goal to work towards in the end, a victory monument, rather than a bucket list of tasks to do. This [CTM] map, in all intentions, will try to kill you. In any way possible. You will die. You will lose your stuff in lava, fire, and explosions. You will suffer your first night. And every other night, for that matter.
Also, due to the unconventional ways of obtaining blocks for the victory monument, in some cases you might lose some of the items. Just try to get as much of it done as you can.

Well, I immediately fell into your traps with the tree. The TnT at the bottom did ALOT of damage to that island! xD Luckily I didn't bring all my stuff, and I was able to salvage a sapling when I went back. I spent most of the day collecting stone and crafting tools, then I was getting spawn killed by cave spiders and a massive fire slime at night. When it was day again, I avoided several traps when I went down into the ravine thing, but fell for one. I was mining coal and heard lots of footsteps on the other side of the stone, I proceeded with caution but was still blown to pieces by that MASSIVE TnT trap. That thing was amazing. I lost tons of stuff and that's where I stopped.
I can continue to do this little walk-through if you wish.

I'm back. Haha, that sounds fun. You may want to light up that spawn area. I'd really appreciate it if you continued playing. Only for Tonix:
Those footsteps you heard were creepers on the other side of that gravel. If you dug any of the gravel to get up, it would have opened up the wall for 10-15 creepers to parade out. :smile.gif:

Do you plan to make a series? Or will this be your only one?
I do plan on making more maps, for sure. I'll have time over the Christmas break, and I'm hoping on making my next maps bigger. It's likely going to be an underground map like Vechs' Kaizo Caverns or Spellbound Caves.
Umm, sure I don't mind. (Noclip is like, flying through the level without touching things just so you can look at it right? xD)
Yeah. I was just doing this to see all of your map. I love how many signs you use, it gives a sense of you actually being there. I'll definitely do something similar in my future map(s).

I'm likely going to use a wool monument, and Vetches' Spellbound Caves will probably provide a lot (alot) of inspiration. One thing I like in minecraft are massive pillars holding up rooms, because enemies can easily hide behind them. I'm sure to put something similar in my next map... expect something a lot bigger than an island.
