Great great grea great map!:biggrin.gif:
i did a speed run of it and i am almost done just one more wool.
so far the map has taken me about 1 hour and 30 minutes. i will hopefully finish soon.
just one thing.
WHERE THE HECK IS THE GREEN WOOL!!!!!!!
lol seriously i can't freaking find it.
i"m stupid fyi =)
You might want to consider doing something to prevent people from doing the same thing I've done early on, which is bringing the water down into the pit in the start, and then making a cobble generator, since it feels like you're trying to limit the amount of stone tools and stone one has access to early on. Unless it's not that big of a deal, just saying :3
And yes, I did it before night, so it's within the rules :happy.gif:
Anywho, it's given me the ability to get unlimited stone tools and coal (furnace + wood, since I got dirt)
That being said, so far enjoying it =D
I was thinking about doing that, but I wasn't sure how scarce cobble would be... until after I hit the bottom. Oh well.

It is completely in the rules, it is something Baj did when he was testing it for me. I thought about changing it, but I figured most people won't consider it before they go do, and those that do deserve the water. They aren't getting a huge advantage because I give the source block of water with the first 4 wools. I did want people to make a cobble gen after getting the first 4 easy wools for sure.

Each room only has 1 wool, so just use a process of elimination, if you really want me to spoil it, I can.
Just finished watching Peila's vid and I noted that you said "You can't replant" because there's no water. Not sure if things are different in 1.9 but at least in 1.8.1 you can "dry farm". Crops grow faster and farmland stays farmland longer after harvesting if there's water, but you can certainly do a wheat farm with no water; I started one on Canopy Carnage.
I'm looking forward to playing this.
Canopy Carnage dry farming? You're on a giant square island surrounded by water and trees with iron.
._.
I'm sure this must've been suggested already, but if you don't want people using the water from the surface to make a cobble generator inside the cave, then you should probably line the pool that is up there with bedrock, cause I just dug a canal straight into the cave and now I got a couple stacks of cobble and haven't even started explorting.

Is the nether in use in this map, and if not, how's the stance on making a portal for resources ? I figure it'll count as leaving the boundaries of the map, but need to make sure, so I know if I can go blaze hunting or not :3
From last page
ah well thank you. so is there more than one source block you can collect? cause if there isn't, then that still makes the map quite challenging which is good. even if there is more than one source block thats fine cause i know a few lava pools that should be obsidian so I can make a enchantment table.

I think technically that would be leaving the boundaries of the map by going into the nether. I didn't do any editing in the nether so it is just normal MC generated terrain in there. I mean I wouldn't throw a fit if you did it, you can play it how you want, I do think it would make lighting easier which was something I was trying to make semi hard or something you had to spend time growing trees to make charcoal.
Hey hey, fist off, excuse any mistakes or 'wrongness' in this post thing, if it's even in the right place or the right thing or.. yea, first ever forum thingy... so.. xD
Just started this map, and so far it's been really good, but I've been filming it, along with me too, mainly to improve my confidence, and I wondered if I could post links to my Youtube channel, or the individual videos, so hopefully some people could watch. Currently on my 2nd try xD so gratz for killing me :biggrin.gif:
Sorry again if this is wrong, or in the wrong place, or I'm not allowed to post links, but yea, forum newb :tongue.gif:
Oh, and a side note, what's the best way for one to voice 'suggestions'? XD I'm currently working on my own CTM map, and I would like to just offer a tip or two, and perhaps ask a couple Q's.
sat here for about 5 hours, plucking up the courage for this .. post thing, so go easy on me please XD
You can post your video in the thread, I am sure people would love to see it.
Also any suggestions or questions just post away. This is an open thread.
My thoughts after getting the first four wool, being someone that is pretty new to the CTM/Super Hostile series:
This is fun. I have died five times due to poor planning and rushing tactics, and the wierd lack of cobblestone is something I've never had to deal with before in an adventure map. The one thing I'll note is that if we're supposed to have one water source block, the one in the magenta room could stand to be a little more obvious. Moving it up the wall a couple squares and surrounding it with glass would make it pop out a little better without killing the room's lighting, which seems to be a goal of your first few rooms.
On an unrelated note, however, I have yet to see a challenge involving minecarts in this series. I haven't watched a lot of videos, but some sort of minecart-maze where you have to push a button at the right time to change tracks and what-have-you seems like it'd be a neat reflex puzzle.
I hope I didn't start on a version it isn't suposed to be compatible with, but on 1.9 pre-4 you kinda end up with 12 melon slices. Which is cool I guess, adds to the challenge, haven't advanced much to know if I'm gonna get another food source. But it also kinda ruins some traps, specially those that involve lava on the ceiling.
Just wanted to come forward and mention these things and maybe find out I'm not supposed to be on this version!
Just played for about an hour and a half. Got the first 4 wool. Died 4 times.
Its was very very fun so far.
Will edit and upload soon, then post again with video links!
BTW Guude,
I think (as other people have mentioned), that the start (first 4 wools) could use a bit more....challenge. It was a bit too easy to walk through it and make lava walls and not see anything spawn until you get to a wool room. Other then that though, i love the map so far.

I did want them to be kind of gimmes, but I think part of it is it gets dark on the surface right after that and there are lot a spawns up there, so I just updated the map to prevent surface spawning.

Damn. That kinda makes me want to restart so i can see how much harder it becomes.....
Guude, you are a champion. Nay, a hero of all sorts. I'm making a map that is insanely difficult like Super Hostile and has some of my creations in it. If you are reading this oh Mighty One, please play it when I'm finished. I'll talk you you on your forums....

So... there's a
Water block in the first four wool rooms? I'm paranoid. @_@ Totally didn't see it.

yes it is in the right hand corner of the one you have to climb up to get to.
