Hello! :biggrin.gif: You find yourself trapped in the quadrilateral world of minecraft. To get home, you'll have to find four redstone ore, to power a portal back to our world...
Your main goal is to make it home, but try and collect feathers that I've hidden around the map. Post how many you find when you complete it!
This map is a mixture of puzzle, adventure, and parkour. It requires you to beat four levels, all varying in tasks. The levels are:
Raven's Horde: A level based on my friend, Ravencake, Push your way through clever obstacles and complete assorted puzzles and tasks, to enter the Raven's stash of shiny objects, and steal his redstone dust from him.
The Dwarven Trials: Deep below the fountain in the town square, lies a Dwarven mining camp. The Dwarves have plenty of redstone, but you won't get any until you pass their trials, of intellect, agility, speed, and strength.
The Mayor's Tower: The fat-cat mayor undoubtedly has some redstone. Alas, it is stashed away high in his tower..
The Mad Bookkeeper: The crazy librarian is rumored to have some redstone stashed away inside his garden.. Good luck getting in there, though. He tends to set traps...
Info:
This map took weeks to develop, it was made entirely by myself.
I would like to thank Ravencake, and Lutski for beta testing.
On average, it took a player 43 minutes to complete this map, You can consider that to be forty three minutes of gameplay. Story:
It is a dreary Monday morning.
You are barely awake, and are getting onto the subway to ride into town, and attend your university class.
As you sit down on the grimy seat, you sigh, and wish you weren't here. In fact, you wish you were anywhere BUT here.
As the subway begins to move, your eyes close, A small nap won't hurt, will it?
You open your eyes. The subway is completely empty, aside from you. You panic, and look for your watch to see what time it is.
It's then that you realize you don't have a watch. Horrified, you glance around, and realize something.
This isn't the subway you take to school, This looks like an old train. And... everything is made out of blocks. Including you!
You insist to yourself that you are dreaming, but after constant attempts to wake up, you cannot.
The train arrives at it's stop. The doors open by themselves. You take one last glance around for other people, but still, you see nothing.
You step out of the train, the doors slam shut behind you as it rolls away. You notice you are in a town, surrounded by huge reinforced walls. Perhaps to keep something out? Or to keep you in...
You hear a noise, and jump. You turn to the right, where you heard the noise coming from, and see a man asleep in a chair inside a ticket booth.
You now realize that the sound you had heard was his snoring. Feeling like an idiot, you approach the ticket booth.
You clear your throat in an attempt to awaken the ticket man.
He instantly stumbles off his chair, and stands up.
"Uhhh" (He rubs the sleep from his eyes) "mmm, How can I help you?"
You explain your situation to the man, sparing no detail.
(The man's face lights up.) "You!" He shouts, "You're one of them! From the other world! Haven't seen one of you since I was a young whippersnapper like yourself. The only way I know of to get back to your world, is through the alchemist's portal. It's right behind the ticket booth! It'll be needing some redstone to get working, though.. Probably about four pieces I'd say. Look, you seem like a nice kid. I might know where you can get your hands on some."
Just got a review from the respected critic, Relinquo. Very pleased with it :3
Read below:
Opening Thoughts:
Hub based worlds were once the way to go for games, they allowed the player somewhere fun to run around between games and meant you could build relationships with characters who lived in the hub so that when the emotionally jaded developer later decided to make that character do a swan dive off the Empire State Building it would hold some emotional weight. But I think this could be the first minecraft map I've seen to use this sort of hub between puzzles. But looking at how they did it, I can understand why.
Visual:
My thoughts othe visual element was an interesting one. During the cold opening when my character turns up in the middle of nowhere I thought that whilst the buildings had a great design, with each different type looking distinct form the other (Prisons look like prisons and the mayors tower was sandstone, setting it ut against the rest) I thought this would soon melt away as we went underground to the same stone and wood normally seen. But something odd happened, I went underground and there wall glass, some of the puzzles had books and greenery,a nd one even had a psychoelic tunnel of dreams, in short the underground puzzle stuff was fun! It was this below ground feel that made me respect the above ground even more becase you never would have seen it coming, the sense of normality never giving away the wierd world below.
[8.5/10]
Challenge:
The challenge was pitch perfect here, nothing ever felt too difficult or too simple, but each challenge also gets progressivly harder forcing you to draw on past knowledge to keep moving. Nothing else to say, just that is worked really well.
[4.5/5]
Length:
If anything this map felt to short, each set of puzzles (aside from the mayors tower) was minimal at best and once you work out the technique it should be no time at all. I really hope that the creator can go back and expand each of the puzzling areas to make the whole thing feel a bt more full.
[3/5]
Puzzle Variety:
Whilst there may not be a whole lot of puzzles here the effort put into them is still on display, and with only the mayors tower working as a jumping puzzle (though a fresh take involving ladders and a cube) we are in for some real inovation. The mazes that link in to one another and the button puzzles were all a blast. The only real issue was that ocassionaly the puzzles did repeat, such as the dawarf maze. Aside from that the variety and build of the puzzles was all solid.

Things That Need Improvement:
- Map Length
- Some Puzzle Variety
Things That Need No-Improvement:
- Town design
- The rest of the puzzle design
Final Thought:
This map is fun in all senses of the word, it might not be the best map Ive reviewed but I had alot of fun with it. I'd also say that the hub based world worked really well, it gave an interesting system for running around between missions and gave a clear direction for all the puzzles. I highly reccomend this map, but I still hope the lttle niggles can be fixed up so this map can be even better:
Recording a Let's Play series of this map, NOTE - We are NOT good at Parkour! This is taking us a while to do, but I am uploading 4 episodes tonight. As soon as the first is up I will post it here, the rest I'll have to update on tomorrow.

I've watched them all already xD thank you so much, I've added the first video to the main post. Your wife gets pretty mad at parkour! LOL! I felt so bad watching her get so frustrated...
Sorry we haven't continued this series yet! We have been really busy, should be getting to it soon! I am really curious whats up ahead. Not sure if we are going to skip the parkour depends on when we get back on it.

I was worried you had given up on it! Ah well, I hope you do finish it, and no hard feelings if you do decide to skip the parkour. I know how you hate it, and it is rather hard..
Nicely done xD I'll have to switch to gold ingots, or diamonds next time I make a map, seeing as feathers can be obtained via killing chickens. I hadn't noticed that until I published it, lmao. Thanks for playing!
I loved the map, the story was concise and yet engaging. The map was awesome! The challenges were quite innovative. I really enjoyed playing the map a lot. I hope you continue to make such awesome maps in the future. I didn't like one thing about it though, it was a bit "uncomfortable" for me. Since I am claustrophobic, I had trouble getting through the maze of the "dwarf" and especially didn't like the ending where I was trapped in a room, but I guess that would be just me.
I got 56 feathers :smile.gif: Found the one chest which would not be ordinarily seen, also found one in the furnace at the dwarf's. ^.^

:ohmy.gif: Nicely done! Sorry about setting off your claustrophobia! xD
Either way, thanks for playing!
I loved this map :biggrin.gif: I like the idea of being able to choose where you want to go. Kinda a free roam thing. MAKE MOAR!!! I found 46 feathers
Thank you for playing :smile.gif:
Yes, I've always liked free roam, or "hub" maps. It allows you to have some freedom of choice in what to do, as you don't have to do anything in a specific order that way. Thanks again for playing!
