This map looks great and all but you can't expect people to download it if they also have to take 15 minutes to learn how to degrade Minecraft just so they can play it. I know I won't.
If you can update your map to the current version of Minecraft, it will be good to go for several more updates and you will get even more downloads and fans. I would like to play the map but I won't get Minecraft 1.8 just so I can.
This is an awesome map. Too bad it's not updated anymore...
I think I might make my my map have references to it, if that's alright with you. Sort of like Aperture Science and Black MESA.
Minecraft automatically converts it now so that it can be played on the latest update.
My review:
As for the OP, I've been meaning to get into this map for quite some time but hadn't really had the opportunity, but I finally did and spent quite a few hours. I think overall it's a great map. You really capture the classically sterile environment of an institution with your choice to use iron blocks. It contrasts great with the actual danger and threats posed in the environment. It's an incredibly big place, which is great, since there's a lot to explore for players but in some cases I found myself a bit lost and stuck until I stumbled upon new locations, practically by accident. The puzzles were ingenious - the no-clipping one was definitely the hardest to master and figure out - and I enjoyed trying to solve each one of them. The story, not so much.
Aside from general plot points, I didn't really feel that it stood out from the generic and often over-done premise. While it was nice to try to fill in the blanks regarding the plot, at the same time it kinda felt like a copout and I didn't really invest myself in the story. As a result, I didn't really see the endings as "endings" so much as different ways I could escape. Perhaps if different paths also brought about their own unique revelations about the character they could've had more of an emotional impact that made them feel more authentic. They were a nice sense of variety though that was great to see included. The one thing that gave the map a sense of character was your often lewd and inane gags that would pop up every now and then to hint that the institution wasn't really a place as secure, let alone sane as it was supposed to be. That and the huge... monoliths made out of different materials. The obsidian one was rather hilarious. That aside, I liked the detail that you put into certain areas - even including a tennis court - which really helped bring the map to life. The Giant was also a nice touch. All-in-all, I'd say it was definitely a satisfying map that I'll probably play a few more times just to find the different escape routes.
Sorry we kind of broke your map at the end. We had fun, though.

I'd give the map an 8 out of 10.
