How do I save maps to my minecraft worlds?

Hey,
I was wondering how to save maps to my minecraft world. I've tried to download this map but it's not working. Please help me asap.

You have to save it under .minecraft saves folder.

EDIT: You take the level.dat and put it into your save folder.

I'm assuming you mean play them on your Minecraft?
If you are on Windows:
1. Type in %appdata%
2. Click on roaming file
3. Open up .minecraft
4. Put the world file (the one that has things like level.dat in it) into the folder that says "saves".
5. Enjoy!

Mac:
1. Go to Finder>Users>Library>Application Support>minecraft>saves
2. Do steps 4 and 5 of Windows.
3. ???
4.Profit!
