That's what the hardcore and hardcore pro versions are for. :tongue.gif:
Yeah, that would make more sense, but I don't think you can do that in multiplayer as of right now anyway, and I still want to be able to get killed by mobs and hunger and stuff, jumping off the edge is just to cheep, IMO, even on the regular version.
XD awesome texture pack :wink.gif: glad I suggested it to you, makes your island look that much more awesome. Also I find it funny that you built your road to freedom in the same direction I did. :tongue.gif:
Yeah thanks for that, i always though my computer couldn't handle 64x or higher texture packs..
Would've got the 128x version (this is 64x)
But i value my fps alot :tongue.gif:
Maybe ill start taking screenshots with 128x and just play with 64x :blink.gif:
Either way, ill do that whenever NC updates to 1.2

Yeah 128x shouldn't lag you too much on this map because of the giant void :tongue.gif:
Looks great but I want to try and do it with a friend. Trying to get it to work in SMP but we always spawn off of the edge of the island. (Note, I'm hosting my own server with the software.)

I only spawn off the island when I first start a fresh map. Once I die the one time and respawn I end up on the island. Not sure about a second death though. If I die once I start I will stop playing the map.
I am playing on my smp server using my gfs account to capture a time lapse.
Nice! Watched your video the other day :tongue.gif:
I'm gonna add the wool block challenges, Thanks!
Hehe thats cool that my suggestion is on the front page now :smile.gif: Also I'm glad you enjoyed my video.
Here is a picture of the slime spawner I made. I guess I got lucky by choosing the side of my house that had at least 1 slime chunk.
This proves that slimes and slimeballs can be obtained. I hope you can include this as a challenge now :smile.gif:
In order to spawn slime, you must have a plateform 16 squares from the bottom.
The best way to achieve this in this map is to make a waterladder to the void, and place cobble stones along the way to make some form of plateform.
Since there isn't alot of chunks with mobs, slimes should spawn rather fast. Assuming you have a mod grinder too, to increase the chance of slimes, simply disable your grinder by placing torches in it to prevent other hostile mobs from spawning.

Hmm.. I'd like to know the side/cpprds of the island you made that on.. I'm thinking of doing a slime platform but it would be a lot of hastle to make and turn out to have it in the wrong place :tongue.gif:
Nice! Sorry it's taking a while for 1.2 I have been pretty busy :] Anyways.. What do you guys think I should add in 1.2? Any suggestions? ( the nether will be added)
I'll probably go back to my regular world to be honest. It's fun and all at first, but after this I'm done with pure survival. I want to go back to my cozy, comfy world with virtually unlimited resources.
But I'll still give some feedback.
Humm, the issue with the Nether is that you're not really going to know where the player will spawn exactly, unless you have a portal already set up. Dunno exactly what you have in mind, but I dunno if the SkyBlock idea will translate well to the Nether.
Of course the Nether is a bit of a survival map itself - No water allowed, limited resources found in it. I think many people treated the Nether itself as a bit of a survival challenge, bringing only a few certain resources to it and seeing if they can stay there without going to the surface.
While it's tempting to advise you to add more resources - part of the charm of SkyBlock is dealing with virtually no resources. Working with severe limitations brings out creativity.
That being said, there are some limitations that absolutely can't be worked around - in particular the resources you normally have to mine. Lack of coal isn't an issue thanks to charcoal, but stuff like iron and redstone I kinda miss having. You really do have to rely on renewable resources on a map like this.
Of course what makes a map like this even possible is in fact renewable resources :smile.gif:. Very intereseting to see what people are doing with just renewable resources.
EDIT: Might as well include a link to my channel, since I'm currently working on the challenge.
accepted the challege!
just a suggestion: add a secret chest hiding under the island full of redstone so payers could add more features to their map :smile.gif:

Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day.
Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
OMG, I love this map, it is extremely fun to play. It is very challenging which makes it so that it doesn't get boring. I even made a Let's Play of it :biggrin.gif: Check it out if you want :wink.gif:
[font="Trebuchet MS"]This map is absolutley awesome! I've been playing it nearly non-stop between school and study for over three days now, and I can't say I've managed to accomplish much. Not using mods was a massive setback, but I feel that this map has kinda helped me understand how everything in minecraft works, and how careful you have to be with your resources. Thankyou for making this map, it's epic! :laugh.gif:
This map is great, nicely done, sir. Anyway, I would suggest making one of the rules something along the lines of "don't accidentally (kill?) yourself so you can regain health and hunger." Because it's an overused tactic and makes food useless. I dunno, just a thought.
oops :biggrin.gif:. Me guilty.
Maybe 1.2 should have some beginning food, to hold you off until you have the chance to make a farm?
I have few suggestions. But this will require many other sky islands.
I actually really like the idea of a series of 5 or so small other island to gain certain resources but each with a certain thing that would make it particularly challenging. Like a floating sand chunk with 1 cactus, but if you punch it before putting a floor below it then it would all fall into the void, or a very far away sphere that has like 10 iron, 5 of everything else, 3 diamonds, and a pool of 14 lava in the middle. Also, a suggestion for when 1.9 comes out is to put a gainable Mycelium source block somewhere so we can make some legit mushroom far with Mooshrooms and such instead of just a giant mushroom on a cobble platform. And one final thing, MOAR DURT. Yeah.
The map is awesome, but i have one question:How do you survive without food?
You have bonemeal and a melon slice. Either craft the melon slice into melon seeds, or bonemeal the ground, break the tall grass and get seeds for wheat.

I also think you should add some redstone and/or iron in the chest.
I've practically exuasted the map and really want something more. :tongue.gif:
