So this is probably not new to anyone but just in case it might be new to someone. I had a mob spawning pad above what used to be the sand island (for the landing er.. splatting point), which now I've changed to let them fall 22 blocks instead for a 1 hit bare handed kill. Now I have iron swords, shovels, and iron ingots to make extra buckets. (I finished all the challenges a while ago, but still like to play and replace cobble stone with stone bricks etc. Anyway probably is or should be considered against to rules to make a experience farm so to speak, but I thought I would share. Now we just need a way to make more dirt for a proper farm.. wink. Anyway this is a great map, well done, it's funny how I keep playing it even after I finished all the challenges.
Not against the rules at all. I've done the exact same thing for the sole reason of my dream goal... (make an iron golem) What tends to happen is my inventory gets spammed with CDs. I have every CD at least twice and have some CDs almost 18 times.
I did that same on the nether side. Have a gold helm!
Well, we're up to part seven now in our SkyBlock Survival adventure. Please check out our series and leave us feedback on our YouTube page to let us know how we're doing. Feel free to comment/rate/favorite/subscribe.
Also, leave us any suggestions for any other maps you may want!
Hey the link to the map seems to have expired. I saved always copy the map into my game instead of putting the map itself it. But it might inconvenience those that haven't played it.
Hm. Over a year and a half old and this map concept still amazes me. The funniest part was that, a year and a half ago, this was heralded as an incredibly unique, simplistic concept that everyone wanted a part of.
Now everyone just wants to make their own Skyblock ripoffs.
Myself included.
Regardless, this map still holds my respect, even though I prefer larger adventure maps (I design them too: Look at my banner).
I've just started messing around on this map with a sibling. I will openly admit that we are not following all the rules . We aren't playing for a record, just for fun. The cobble stone generator was a pain to figure out, but once I did, I was able to make a generator that up to 4people can use. At the same time. Interestingly, trying to work with water scaffolding is hard. That is made worse when the water tries to freeze on you. Had to have the other person playing watch water freeze, and break it if it did. Awesome map! I've played the original survival island, which can be tricky, but this one is challenging in the care that you have to take. Once again, very well done!
Technically, couldn't you get iron? If you just kept killing zombies you'd eventually have enough for a set of armor. The same goes for Gold as well.
My personal experience is that getting iron drops from zombies is very hard. I need to create a drop grinder that mostly kills zombies, creepers, and zombies so it only takes a single hit per creature with a stone sword, but iron drops are quite rare (about 0.5% of the time do you ever get a drop), so you need to plow through a whole bunch of zombies before you get even enough iron to make a bucket or a pair of shears, much less enough to make iron armor that you need to regularly replace from time to time.
Those iron bars are incredibly precious. The largest problem is trying to figure out a way to separate the zombies from creepers, as the creepers seem to blow up at the most inappropriate times on SkyBlock. Keep in mind that you need to be the one making the final kill on the zombies as ordinary grinders don't spit out iron bars (such as a drowning grinder).
I seem to have some troubles installing. When i actually got the world save into my saves folder, after converting it to anvil, it placed me in a snow world with no skyblock at all. I don't really know what i'm doing wrong.

After 4 attempts at skyblock i was gonna start again but it spawned me at the very edge of the void on the mainland. Did i do something wrong or is it just a spawn bug?

the picture at the bottom of your post is DEFINITELY a copy of skyblock lol.
As long as you place it somewhere within a few hundred blocks of the starting island... no.
If you build out to almost at the mainland or further, you may end up with a portal spawning in the Nether at a location which is very different from the "glowstone" portal which is already on this map. You are also seriously shooting yourself in the foot if you try to push the map in such a way.
I really like this map, everybody should get this map and do all of the challenges, if you want a tough and challenging map, you should get this map, I really like this awesome map!

version with the red mushrooms and reeds and ice island
Wait, what... Ice island?
I'm no longer active here since no one else seems to be.
