I haven't seen whats in the nether chest yet, but there should be a single diamond for an enchantment table, or something of the sort because silk touch would be helpful in making more creative structures maybe an actual mushroom house- and it would add the need to battle mobs to level up for the enchantments and such as well as new challenges. Maybe a sword with more than two enchantments and such.
Sorry to rain on your parade with my pessimism but I'm annoyed with how almost every map which en-cooperates the Void is instantly shuffled off as a SkyBlock rip-off, I've even seen maps created prior to SkyBlock being called SkyBlock rip-offs. It's getting to a point where a lot of the map creation community are unwilling to use the Void within their maps out of fear that their map will be labeled as a none creative imitation. I understand that when the map is just a small box of dirt and grass it's a SkyBlock rip-off, but there's a difference between inspiration and blatant plagiarism which a lot of the SkyBlock fan-base do not understand.
Edit: See post above me. That sums up my previous statement. I've even seen people calling the SkyLands Alpha map and Vechs Infernal Sky CTM map SkyBlock Ripoffs. This is getting ridiculous.
I have not encouraged anyone to go around to other maps calling them skyblock rip-offs, So I don't know why you posted your complaint to this thread. Yes it is getting a little out of hand but, Theres really nothing I can do about it..

Problem!:
Nothing in the map is to make the game easier, it's supposed to be hard. everything is just so it's possible to physically survive.

Check out this EPIC game VoidSpace, a Work-In-Progress, cross-platform universe MMO. I'm more excited for this game than I am for everything else... except CIV: Beyond Earth http://strt.cc?r=ZGFob29wc0BsaXZlLmNvbQ__
Hey, my apologies if this is a silly question, but as everyone's talking about going to the nether and sand islands, I can't seem to find any other island than the dirt island I started on. I downloaded the most recent version, so I don't understand where I should be looking. Halp?
Make sure your save file says verson 2.x based on what copy you have, the normal sized island or the much smaller island. If your chest has more then just an ice block and a lava bucket, then you're on the 1.1 version that does not include the extra islands or nether.
Hey, Where do you get the melon seeds? Are there any on the map? I mean, you get 1 piece of watermelon from the sand island, but thats everything that has to do with watermelons. PLEASE help if its possible.

Put that 1 watermelon in your crafting area and it will turn into a seed =)
Can't seem to make a basic cobble generator on 2.1... for got how i did it on 1.1 x.x
Any tips? My lava keeps becoming obsidian :| or i get a 0% yield cobble
I kow you can't bucket water onto Netherack, i mean take a block of something (cobblestone in this case, as we have a near unlimited supply) place that block, then bucket the water onto it :happy.gif:
It disappears on every type of block in the Nether, you can't get water into the nether without hacked in "water blocks"
I had a lot of fun with the 1.1 challenge on minecraft v1.9-2 and am looking forward to checking out v2! I failed at least 6 times before I got things going and managed to not leave myself unable to continue. I turned my lava to obsidian twice. I also had an instance of falling to my doom with the bucket, and at least three accidental "destroyed the ice block" prior to getting a successful unlimited water source created. Eventually I got things going and even managed to build almost everything out of stone stone brick rather than just cobblestone.
One of the more important tips I picked up was that water does not freeze if it is covered. I had one square of water that proved difficult to cover without having to re-arrange my cactus growing area. To handle that I put a floating wood block 4 squares above the water so it would not freeze and used fence posts to make it look sort of like a street-light.
Keeping the grass alive required a huge effort as well, but it was kind of neat having animals spawn in so it was worth the hassle. I didn't even think about propagating the grass till I only had one block of it left. I eventually got my little field of grass growing and then I made a stable out of fencing to hold the critters. I do really regret not making the holding pens much bigger so it would be easier to work with. The holding pens were crowded and hard to move around in...plus the animals kept escaping when I would try and breed or harvest them. :smile.gif:
I started my mob trap as just a room to spawn them in so I could collect some bones for bonemeal early. I needed TONS of wood to keep the stone bricks cooking. I really grew to detest the mutant trees! Sure they gave extra wood, but they are such a pain to chop down. To help with the wood production I used pretty much all my dirt on growing trees as I stretched it out to move the grass around. After the mob trap was built, things got much easier with plenty of bonemeal. It let me mass harvest tree's and make mushroom soup to avoid starving to death.
It also took me a long time to figure out a workable mob trap, I didn't want to look at the ones already out there until I gave designing my own a shot. In the end I might as well have, lol. I wound up with one very similar to some of the water based fall damage traps out there. Those are way better than what I came up with though, which is basically a small room with a hole in the floor and some signs to trick them into walking over the edge. Enderman hosed it up on me though so I changed the room to being only 2 blocks high, I hate those guys! lol.
Getting the bottom layer of dirt was a crazy challenge as well! If you equip some cobble, dig the dirt with it and before it falls toss in a block of cobble, it will push the dirt up. The timing is tough, and I am pretty sure I lost at least 2 blocks of dirt. That was a real pain too as each block proved to be precious.
Okay. I just copied my regular world (non-nether) into a newly downloaded 2.1 and gave myself 24 sand in addition. I threw out my mushrooms, pumpkin seeds and reeds. That about covers it, right?
Well the issue with that is those items ARE in the map. But they are scattered amungs the main island, the sand island and the nether island once you make the portal. :/

-Suggestion..though not the first to suggest it.

Anyway here are a few more pictures!

An hour long of footage, sped up to fit 36 minutes. It's every single challenge in skyblock put into one video!
