I've followed every step to install this, and I get loaded into the castle and can see some signes and a chest - and I can see dark blue floor and lava way down below me, but NOTHING else ...... wtf am I doing wrong?!It says "Must be converted"
I installed the map for version 2.3 on the hogcraft.net website and everything worked (like the texturepack and everything) but when I went to play the actual map, it just kind of froze. Why?

There could be several causes. This map(If you look at the date, and know what MC version it was started on) is old, and heavily dealt with being converted to Anvil(Prior to 1.2.0+), which forced a lot of things to change in the world file.(Which is common for wrecking many custom maps. So hopefully AMM might be doing a new world file for HogCraft)
Another cause of the problem(HIGHLY unlikely) is that since the map was worked on with special mods, and since you might not have had those mods installed for your game, then HogCraft had a hard time trying to remove those modded items from the map, which caused an error on the map.
Now if only they had the Anvil and features back in 1.2, and the version you started this map, so you could have named the items yourself. Like name bows 'wands', and made a 'wand' called the 'Elder Wand' while using TMI make the wand have every combat related enchant(Melee and range) all up to level 10, named the chain helm to 'Sorting Hat', the iron sword 'Sword of Gryfindor'.
Then the Map would have been SO beyond great. ^^ Even now to use command blocks to TP players through the houses entrances(Rather than walk to the houses where you unfortunately made each house small, yo would be able to Make the houses bigger(Easily do-able for Hufflepuff and Slytherin, but wouldn't know how you'd do for Ravenclaw or Gryfindor).
Sorry, he won't be working on the map any more till mid summer time.
Though you could get 1.4.7 from Minecraft site, and download that version supported HogCraft. For some random bits of fun, you could also have the iron sword in the Chamber of Secrets renamed 'Sword of Gryfindor' and name the Chain helm to 'sorting hat'. And install the mods, all to give yourself a better feel to the map.
Your suppose to go and download the Mod loader the 'Read me' and or any other file you got in the download says to install, open the zip of the mod loader download, drag its contents into your Minecraft.jar file then look for the Meta.inf item. Save the changes, then run the Minecraft game. Then after everything loads up, your minecraft should say it has 3 mods installed. After that close your game, then go back to your .Minecraft folder, you should see a new folder called 'mods', that is where you'll drag the zip mods into that mod folder, then close the file, and relaunch Minecraft. If every thing is done right, your minecraft won't crash and die on you and you can play the map. Though you don't need mods, you just want them to add to the fun.

Your welcome. Oh and for the fun of it. Go and change the name of the chain helm to 'sorting hat', the iron sword to 'Sword of Gryffindor', and if you have TMI installed, then over power a bow with all bow enchants up to level 10, then rename the bow 'The Elder Wand'. That will be fun.
Though might you be doing a quick update to the texture pack, or something? With That updated, I can change the names of stuff like the sorting hat, school robes, school hour glass points, the sword, even doing a over enchant to 'The Elder Wand', and have some fun.
