This map was really quite fun. I like that it was long, and it was actually a great progressive map. Gotta get this to go here, gotta go here to get that, all Zelda-like. And the signs were very amusing, you can tell a lot of thought was put into every detail of this map. The environments were great, too, organized but expansive. Quite clever puzzles, too, I must say. Great on any difficulty, didn't require any fancy mods, just good old fashioned fun. I would definitely recommend this map to anyone looking to kill some time. Great job!
Thanks! I hope to add to the map in the future, possibly adding more optional content. I'm glad it helped you kill time, as it was one of my goals ^^

Hey, me and some friends did a play through of this map last night, unfortunatly it was 4:00 am, so in my exhaustedness i repeatedly refered to it as "mansion of madness" instead of "monarch of madness"
I'll be changing the title of the video to the correct one when i get home from work, but i wanted to post this here for now
The map was A LOT of fun. We did end up cheating at some points, but what i like about this map is that cheating actually doesn't ruin any of the fun. it just kind of adds to the overall sillyness. like "Oh, that's the way we were supposed to solve that puzzle? Well, crap."
Parts that stick out, i REALLY liked the "flip 50 switches in less than a minute" puzzle.
Very well done, very impressive.
5 unobtainable diamonds out of 5 for you (has anyone made this joke yet? i didn't read the whole thread)
to check it out! (Still being uploaded in parts, could take a while)

Ooh, I'm going to watch it right away! Don't worry about the name, since I've seen different people name it differently, sometimes completely forgetting it So I just enjoy seeing different experiences.
Cheating doesn't matter that much either, as long as you don't go to the Dust Dorm or the Obsidian Chapel at the start! That's the one mistake I always facepalm at :tongue.gif:
Also, no one made that joke yet, so you can claim rights on it!

excellent, i hope you enjoy us enjoying your map
One more thing i just remembered. we had an issue with the part where you need to dig up graves. for some reason it wasn't immedatly obvious that we just had to go down the hole to the ground below. We could chalk this up to us being exhausted at the time if nobody else has experienced the issue. That part probably won't be uploaded for a while anyways. i forget how many segments we ended up doing, but as far as memory serves me that part was towards the end.

Hmm, well, I'll have to see it to understand how bad it was! I'm looking forward to the next part(s), and I hope the whole thing wasn't too confusing!
It's equally laggy for me, and I had to build through it! Worst part is, it isn't even 10 MB... Well, if you still want to play it, and can't get past the occasional jump puzzles (couldn't blame you on that one), feel free to cheat through them.
Played through it yesterday. This was... very, very interesting.
I was fascinated from the beginning and you got to keep me glued to the map till the end.
The random parts made it thoroughly enjoyable, even though I found it quite short (to be fair the length is quite reasonable for a map of this type, I just never have enough).
Things that stuck? Goddammit, do you give courses about "great ideas"? The lining on the exterior walls, the whole effing architecture, the randomness of some trials (I'm looking at you, library), everything is TOO good in fact, so it feels like it needs more length.
Things that suck? Lemme see... Not really. The parkour and labyrinth sections (which I usually hate) were short and fun (no, let me rephrase that: the parkour was fun, the labyrinth was... well, random. Nice one.), I only ever found two problems. The only thing that sucks a bit is the length. Too short. No, REALLY.
Both were secretive secret related. Well, if they even ARE problems.
Not sure about the first - the cake can be used to break the red wool. 'twas probably intended, but seeing the signs about the flint & steel later made me wonder. No big deal, I got the other cakes just for fun.
The second one is... Dammit, I'm not even sure anymore. The music in the secretive secret plays once when entering - and once when getting out. With both tunes overlapping if one goes out too soon. Hard on the ears. But it somehow... adds to the madness.
All I can say is: MOAR, good sir.
<- See that? It's a chest of Schrödinger. It's either full of diamonds, or full of coal. For you.
Or maybe it's a chest of Schrödinger's lies.
I'm not sure anymore.
Unfortunately, I don't give courses, but I could start! I do see a lot of comments seeing it's too short, and believe me: it was even shorter before. The meadows and the library of trials are fresh additions, so imagine that!
I hope I can add to it while working on my next map (pardon me: OUR next map, since I'm in a group to create one; promises to be awesome). Someone suggested more optional rooms, since the story is already pretty all there. I think it wouldn't hurt...
For the cake in the secretive secret, I could change it, just to avoid that problem... Most people I saw play ate it before getting there anyways!
The music, activated by a pressure plate, is intentional. Yes, the tune is nice when played once, but when activated more than once (think of a let's play featuring 3-4 players...), it gets annoying. It's meant to be this way! As you said, more madness, and it's better. Besides, if it was a lever or button, maybe some would be reluctant to activate it, seeing how I promised lots of TNT in the beginning?
And oh boy, I sure hope there isn't a cat in that chest.
Good point. On the other hand the map as a whole feels quite lighthearted. Never thought about that again (never even had to eat any of the cakes), and, well... When you hear TNT starting, there's still time to run.
You can run, but what tells you I haven't filled the entire surrounding area with TNT? Running would be futile!
Monarch of Madness (Puzzle 10/10): ReplayCompleted. Since Curse had to do maintenance, I'm stuck with the older version of MoM. So I read the signs again, ignored the pool and went to the center pillar to be ordered straight. The 12 blabla I climbed. Then I went through trapdoor bridge with TNT. I'm not totally sure if that's was to be funny. Climbed to a door, found a maze and an urge to burn. Water control and went down. Run fast was a good advice I suppose, but I feel like I'm running in the wrong direction, back into the castle. Maybe Dominio is the crazy one. How am I to take control over my country, if I can't get out? Again, a feeling of entrapment but nobody is really trying to kill me. The story seem to be gone as well.
Obsidian jump, well I guess all puzzle fans are having a good time. For me, it's aggrevating. Ah, a sign, the story will continue! No? "If you're here, you have flint & steel"? So if I don't have flint & steel, I'm not here? Oh, I shall now go to the library. It's to the right from here. Alright, turn right and straight ahead towards a chest! Simple. Oooops, signs!! Library to the right again!? Aha, I should've read the latter signs with my left arm. How slovenly of me. Since it's raining and my steam machine doesn't like lagging rain, I can check in my dictionary. Am I having fun? Nope. It's not an adventure yet. So far it's a bunch of puzzles while running around in a tremendous build. I've already given the build top marks.
OK, the rain refuses to stop, so I just hope no slamming door or repeating dispensers is to come, because then I just have to shut down. Alright, in to the center pillar again, and I don't need the signs to tell me, I haven't moved an inch. Dust dorm and I lack an expert. Signs, so far it's only been a test, (why the test? If I'm the monarch, I shouldn't need any tests. (Besides, awaken after 50 years, no breakfast, no woman to talk to, (or whatever one do with those), a test is the last thing I need, (after rats, (and herpes type 2)))). Burning the wool again, using the "no purpose" to their purpose, (ignoring jumping to the maximum, (hey im a yognaut, i can cheat and i donthav to spel god aither)). Why use TNT? It's only glass! Idiotic! OK, through door, get shovel, shovel snow through wall, dark, another snow wall, fell into water but am seeing some lights, (am I in the sewer anyway? Owned, if so). I haven't got a clue:
I need to get back somehow. But for the first time since I started the map, I feel like I'm playing Minecraft. Being lost in MC is a major experience for me, this is mamas alley. If it was outside. Inside, I still have this urge to burn.
I got out and found myself outside the obsidian jumps. And so I'm back in the snow room. I made the wrong call last time, now let's see if the brain cell has got enough coffee. The MoM lies here. Hmm, isn't that me? Drop, read, sigh. Back at the center pillar, my home from home, like. I climb upstairs to soon understand something. I don't. I get down again to read the sign. No, I shall climb upstairs and soon I will understand. Back up again! I've got some ladders, maybe upstairs means up-up-upstairs? Climbing, irritated on these idiotic trapdoors, that always have their hinges on the same side I'm climbing on, (making me have to jump, (which I can't)). Signs, blablabla, I'm now mad and have to burn down the castle. Nope, the urge is gone and I'm letting PPRGaming do that, that's what they good at, they say. (They will fail, but it's not my problem).
I go to the next set of signs, read them and see a building in the distance. That's seem more intriguing than what I've just done, so now I have to get out of this castle. I use the waterfall in the NE corner, have enough ladders to get up and... Stone Watchtower. Oh? Anti-climax again.
It's seems that I can't figure out which genre this belongs to. If it's supposed to be an adventure, where's the story? It's not really an Escape map, because nobody wants me dead. So it's just a bunch of Puzzles in a castle made of wood, that wouldn't have stand for 50 years, rather 50 minutes, because the first thunderstorm that came along, would have set it on fire with glee. The so called story is just an excuse to run around and doing puzzles. Now that may sound like an adventure to many, but to me it's still an excuse. Take away the story, and you can just as well have signs telling you to go to the different puzzles. That's exactly what I did with Aneara 1.0! And I got a 3/10 in grade. So, if I call this a Puzzle map, it's easier to grade. The build is very good. The puzzles are very good. Using Minecrafts limitations; no rather the opposite, (TNT on glass, hinges, but then again, snow and torches), and we can scrap the story. New puzzles, nope. The atmosphere is very nice even without the story, (the build does it), and a big bonus for no JOLs and no ACODs, (and they shall not be missed). Adding 3+3+2+3+2 = 10/10. What? Well, that's my system for you, surprising even me. :biggrin.gif:
Well, thanks for your thoughts, as they're appreciated! However, since you played the older version, a lot of things have been added to the now V1.7. A lot of your issues might have been fixed, too.
As for the story: that's what happens when you cheat! Reading the signs helps, and following the way to go also does! Hehehe... If you didn't break the sand to go to the control room in the first place, and had checked out the areas divided by doors, you could have been to the stone watch tower earlier, too! Did you even end up climbing the central pillar to its highest? I assume that, since the story didn't really move you (or even exist?), it wouldn't have mattered. Still, the griefing tools given to you at that point could have been useful, especially with your desire to burn the whole place!
Well, thanks for your time! I'm still juggling through a few maps, yours being on the list, so I'll have to get to it eventually. I hope it'll be good, and if not... Oh well :tongue.gif:
Alright. I just decided not to work on this map anymore, or at least, not until I'm done work on my next one! I'm in a team whose purpose is to create an awesome adventure map, so I'll devote all my creativity to it! Still, that doesn't mean you can't leave more feedback and suggestions, because I'll keep reading them and acknowledging their usefulness!
Wait... You know what? Ignore my last post! I might end up working on it still, despite having two maps in the works. Reason is, I wanted to add a score system (yes, I've had some comments about that, and finally decided to acknowledge them). You know, finding items throughout the map to raise your score? Some people like that, some don't. However!
You don't HAVE to look for points, or even grab them for that matter! Therefore, there's a little something for everyone! The total points you can get will be determined when V1.8 comes out (1.8 of the map, not Minecraft itself... unless I time it perfectly). What items will be spread throughout, and what achievements will be added to the already-existing ones? Wait and see!
Also, a new area is in the works, and maybe even two of them... All optional, of course, so the main story stays the same. I'm simply giving cheese to the mice here, as a lot of you wanted more content! (I compared you guys to animals, but you counted the "short length" as a bad point, so fair's fair!)
very nice map but i burned the castle down before i was meant to be because i had flint and tinder and it was so dark...
thats why i had to reset the map for doing the library thing
and the story (and jokes) are very cool too
Thanks! Don't worry about burning the map, because as some let's players I've watched said, "What kind of Monarch would build his castle out of wood?". Although it makes it easy to destroy in the end, I also think it looks pretty cool, too. Is there anything you think the map was missing? Something that would have made it better?
öhm... I think if you add Notch and Herobrine to the story it would be cool but thats not very important :biggrin.gif:
and No its just awesome nothing to make it much better and that part with the burning yeah there was just one fault i burned before i ended the map so i cant finish it :biggrin.gif: but now i did
Unfortunately, I don't think Notch or Herobrine would fit here... But I AM adding a Nether optional part to it! So Ghasts will not be left alone in their little corner.
Im at the part with the 2 rooms that looks same, but one is temple of fire , and other temple of shears , i cant find the lever to unlock door in temple of fire (after i did lava go to obsidian)
There is a button next to the door across the lava! I'll probably change it to a lever so that it becomes more obvious... Also, it's the Water Temple, not the Temple of Fire! I know it doesn't seem to fit, however.
Thanks! I hope to add to the map in the future, possibly adding more optional content. I'm glad it helped you kill time, as it was one of my goals ^^

Super Hostile maps I've completed: Spellbound Caves (Yeah, I pretty much suck.)

Food time?
I fear the worst...
Ah, I thought you meant something else. Thank goodness I was wrong.
Cool! I'll be on the lookout for those :biggrin.gif:
