Guardian of the Emerald Forest! A NEW MAP DESIGNED FOR MULTIPLAYER
Hey folks! Kninj here, and the purpose of this thread is to show to you a map that my girlfriend and I have designed together. It's called (obviously..) Guardian of the Emerald Forest, and tells the story of two brothers who receive an interesting message from an old friend. However, when he goes missing, there's only one way to find him... I won't spoil too much though!
It's designed for two players, but you can of course play it with just one (though it's doubtful you'll get all the treasure without a second person)
The rules are as follows:
You can only break Beds, Clay and Leaves.
Do not place any blocks unless told.
Play on Easy, Normal or Hard.
You MAY craft with resources you have found
Do not use INVedit, TooManyItems or Similar.
Obviously rule six isn't really a rule. It's optional. It'd be nice if you did have fun though. If you do, let me know, it'll make me happy!
Obviously You'll need your own server to play it on SMP
However, on SMP Spawnpoints are a bit different, so you may spawn outside of the house.
If so, head down into the Basement of the starting house.
This is where the rules are and information you'll need for the map.

If you're playing on singleplayer, and you're looking to add a little atmosphere, there are a couple of mods we think might be good to put on. They don't do anything, but they're quite nice. These are: Mo' Creatures (With Foxes, Bunnies, Boars, Birds, Fish and Deer), Tree Sprites, and Squirrels. Lovely foresty mods. Even if you're not playing this map, these are worth looking up.
These are some quite edited pics of the first two major locations with titles and whatnot. They use the default texture.
We've also done the notes in a special manner, so here's the first one to give you an idea: Setting the scene!
(in English, With FireDragonSoftware)
(in English, With WoopaGaming)
(in German, with xctplays)
I hope you enjoy the map, please post feedback here, as well as your score!
Me and my friend, XxRapoxX just finished playing it, our score was 55! Overall it was an amazing map, it captured the adventure feeling without resorting to slaying endless monsters, as well as being a great rpg and having nice storytelling elements as was expected after first seeing the Settingthescene note. The only problem was that it ended pretty quickly, although it was great while it lasted. Would not mind seeing a sequel with an expanded story =P
Thanks! Sure, we felt it was a bit quick to but seeing as it was just our first attempt at a map, we felt it was best not to overwork ourselves, in case we overstretched our ability. Now that we know peoole have enjoyed it, there will certainly be another longer one on the way during the summer!
