........uhhh....... I don't know what I did differently, but I started a new map of the file, and it worked this time (???). Oh well, at least it's working now. Now off to bed so I can play it tomorrow!
Glad to hear it. Be sure to let me know how it goes!
I'm sorry to say, (YOU WANTED FEEDBACK DIDN'T YOU?) that I'm not a huge fan of your map. When I started playing I went out of the house, and the water consisted of a bunch of blue stripes... the dialogue skips one every time i click on an npc also, making it very hard to get immersed in the story and world. Somehow, I managed to get the love letter side quest's heart piece. I made it to the Shrine, but decided to stick with Zelda Adventure. P.S. I think it's rather rude that you intrude on Gary's forums and criticize his work and scripts. I realize that there is a reason why Zelda Adventure, the best Adventurecraft map out there has over 100,000 downloads.

1. You're skipping not because of the scripts, but because of lag. That's a problem with your PC. 2. Zelda Adventure has no story at all, nor does it have HD textures, so we don't enjoy it as much. 3. If you haven't even played the FIRST ****ING DUNGEON, you CANNOT make valid judgements on this map. Thank you for the feedback, but PLEASE don't ***** about things like this.
By the way, I bet it takes "THE BEST MAP EVAR" a lot of hard work! Oh wait! There's no story, there's generic dungeons with no names, no custom mobs or custom textures! WOOHOO IT'S AMAZING YEAH! Also, the only reason Zelda Adventure became famous was because it was directly titled as "ZELDA ADVENTURE" and was very easy to find.

Heh, this smells like trolling.
That, and think about how much longer ZA has been in development. All of the scripts have been tested and are fully functional, so if they didn't work then you did something wrong.
You could have had me fooled that your feedback was genuine if you hadn't included your little "ZA is better because it has more downloads" line.
EDIT: In case you didn't know, criticisms are REQUIRED for almost ANYTHING to be any good. It isn't like my criticisms are baseless statements based on a fan-boy induced rage (such as yours), they are genuine concerns. So yes, I don't care if you find it rude that I criticize and offer feedback for other map devs. That doesn't matter to me.
Also, you said it is hard to get immersed in the story and the world?....
Even if that part is totally genuine, does Gary's map have...any...story elements...at all? I mean, ZA is like "hey, Link, HELP!" and that is it...
That, and I'm wondering which scripts of Gary's you are referring. Everything he has added has already been done by someone else. It isn't like he makes unique things.
Heh, I'll just bury your post in bumps if you don't want to leave good and honest feedback.

Hey why don't you go find a bridge to hide under you troll

Scripts? What scripts? The only scripts I've seen in Gary's map are scripts that people like us wrote. You know feedback is only worth while if it's actually constructive, right? Something like "I didn't like the way this was done, it would be better if it was something like that" not "omg it all sux! no more troll gary!!!"

Exactly. If Kralc87 would show me a post where I've given improper feedback, I'll put his post as an announcement.

lolwut?
I haven't even played Shadow Gate and I think it's better than Zelda Adventure

Which means you prolly won't post anything of his
But I could be wrong
Anyways, I wanted to know if I should play the map now that it's been updated (and I assume with a lot of content) or should I wait for another update?
Cause I want to try it already but I'm not sure if the future updates will be worth playing through all over again
XD

Well that is up to you. The dungeon has been overhauled so it isn't even the same thing anymore. v02.1 is coming out on the 22nd so if you are patient you could just wait until then.
I'm still trying to figure out how the process for "patching" maps for updates will work, but rest assured that your progress from one version will carry over to the next.

I just downloaded it
Whatever, I'll wait for v2.1
Yeah, someone really should figure out a way to make that work
Cause after beating a map I don't usually play it again unless it's majorly updated

I think it should be easy enough. I'll get it figured out.
I had play tested the map before placing the map on the ingame download menu, and everything worked.
While doing a play test for the newest version of adventurecraft, the bow puzzles don't work. I'm pulling the download link for now until I can figure out what happened. I'm a little pissed but eh, what can you do? I'll reupload a fixed copy later on today.
EDIT: I identified the issue. It will take a while to reupload, but I'm uploading some fixed resources. It includes an updated script pack and water animations, and all you will need to do is copy those files over and override them.
Is there actually a way to change the textures? I saw the different texture options in the map folder, but in the options room of the actual map there is only the x128 option, and that lags my computer very badly to the point where I have to set my graphics options to short/fast/Advanced off/Max FPS just to be able to play the map fairly smoothly, and on v01.3 I could play the map with less lag, even with graphics set to far/fancy/Advanced on/Power Saver because the textures were only x32... D:
EDIT: Well, I made it to the dungeon, and the lag gets worse... But besides that, I don't really know where to go. I can't find anything in the main room, the right door leads to a platforming area with no way for me to reach anything yet, the left door doesn't have anything except wolfos, the door beyond that juat has 2 deku scrubs, and there are 2 unopenable doors (1 requires a key, and 1 just won't open) that I can't figure out. Also, a wolfo will sometimes randomly appear in whatever room I'm in, attack me once or twice, and then randomly die, regardless of what room I'm in...
EDIT 2: After wandering around the dungeon for a while, I decided to stop, and when I reloaded the save file, it wouldn't load. It just froze. I think that's just a rare glitch with Adventurecraft, because it will sometimes just not load a file and then refuse to load said file every time you try to load it. Anyway, I finally found the key. In the room with the deku scrubs, the key appeared after I defeated them the first time, and after that the enemies never appeared in that room anymore. I never got the key before, so I think that was some sort of puzzle where you had to kill them both at the same time or something, but I didn't see the key at first. You might want to light the room a bit better.
EDIT 3: I finished the demo. I had to cheat in the room where you have to get to the eye switch in a certain amount of time, because no matter how hard I tried, I wouldn't get to it in time because of lag. The boss was also pretty hard, but I finally defeated it after a few tries. It felt kind of odd to have a really hard boss in the first dungeon. (Most games have a fairly easy first boss) Overall, the demo was really good, and I am looking forward to the next update.
Random suggestions:
- The x16 and x32 texture options need to be added right away! There are many places in the map where even a decent computer will slow down, and the x16 or x32 textures would actually fix the lag better than setting every graphical option to the lowest setting.
- When a key appears, it needs to be made clearer. Maybe there could be a script that checks for dropped items and creates sparkling particles near it if it's a key?
- Some of the rooms should be brighter. It's kind of hard to see what's going on, and it's usually better to make the room brighter rather than force the player to use a torch, because the torch can lag, and when the player equips the torch it doesn't allow them to use whatever item was originally equipped, (Usually the sword or shield) and this is a big problem when the player needs to constantly hold a torch when in a dark room rather then occasionally for really dark areas or to light something.
- The first miniboss room needs to be a bit darker. The spider won't attack you because of all the light and it make it too easy. The second one is fine, though.
- The boss should be a bit slower and do a bit less damage. Right now, It can charge into you and hit 2-3 times, and with it doing 3/4 heart damage, it can very easily kill you if you aren't careful.
I was really hoping for the 16x16 texture option to be released in this version but as soon as I enter the game...
LAGGGGGGGGGGGGG I have to pres F3 If I want a decent framerate So I went in the map folder and grabbed the 16x16 textures but the items are still 128x128 (Or is it 256x256?)So when I look at the items More lag!
please fix this as soon as possible or else I can't play te map at all.

Ahh, I don't know about 16bit textures yet. I'm still working on them. :tongue.gif:
In the mean time, try lowering some of the graphical options (eg. Fog, Grass, Bobbing, etc.)
Sometimes when I download the Demo or the 1.4.1 Download link, I keep getting Spawned underground in a mound of dirt. It might be an AC bug because it has happened on newly created worlds. Or maybe its just happening to me? I can normally get around this by going into debug mode and using noclip to get to where I am actually supposed to be. Maybe the onLoad script could teleport the player from wherever they are to the Guide Room?

I never said that ZA was better BECAUSE it has more downloads. I said there was a REASON that it has more...
And the reason why ZA doesn't have a very deep story at all is because he is paying homage to the older classics. I do really like your idea to continue on in the OoT/ MM storyline! I have to praise the backstory and all. :wink.gif: I will try redownloading it and seeing if anything happens to fix some of my problems. Thanks
Glad to hear it. Be sure to let me know how it goes!
And I just put it in saves and it worked!!! Maybe it had to save itself the first time so it would work from then on. I really don't know *shrug*
