[Puzzle] The Nightmare on Christmas, by JL2579 and Sancarn

Review Summary
Super-challenging series of 24 puzzles, based on obscure game mechanics and exploits found by the guys from the ZipKrowd server. Seriously difficult, unless you follow their wacky inventions - I made it to puzzle 6 legitimately before I gave up. Redstone, pistons, ice, tree-growing, all sort of gameplay mechanics. The guys also took the time to add color and texture details to the rooms, which I greatly appreciated. If you are looking for a mega challenge - this one's for you.
No more then around 3 hours to complete the main story, any genre is alright as log as it doesn't require mods to play. Resource packs are iffy, I don't mind but my husband does. I'll be the one recording so he may not need to use the same resource pack.
A few 1.8 gems
is a good scifi/tension map.
is Zombie Apocalypse (I -think- it would work for 2 player). Warp Like an Egyptian was a little iffy in multiplayer (may have been fixed), but good map if you are cooperating nicely.
is good if you want to fight through haunted mansions.
1.7 and 1.8-prerelease maps (not sure if they were updated to 1.8)
(prison escape).
(creepy house exploration).
(heist).
(puzzler).
(based on a D&D campaign, sequel to "Escape from Zanzer's Dungeon").
Review Summary
Minions are navigating hazardous terrain - give them jobs (basher, miner, blocker, builder, etc…) to help them reach safety before time runs out! I played a beta version - so the final rating may change. Awesome adaptation of the Lemmings computer game. A bit challenging to figure out the controls and get down the timing, but otherwise really captures the feel of the original - Minecraft style! Level editor is superior to other game maps I've seen recently. Level design tends to be on the hard side. Could use a tutorial. Visual build is very complimentary of the computer game.
Review Summary
Solve 18 puzzles by walking on colored tiles to make them disappear. Based on an old Commodore 64 game of the same name. Primary mechanic is pathfinding (no jumping allowed), which can quite challenging. For the most part, levels get more complex and difficult. Visually, the map is best played with the overhead F5 view, which can be a bit awkward. Unfortunately, Minecraft is not a precision movement/detection game so it can be a bit finnicky, e.g. if you accidentally walk on the edge of blocks or cross diagonally (or if you lag and stand in one place too long). The spawn room feels a bit too large / spread out, but does have texture variety. I played the first version, and the command blocks look to be made in such a way that additional levels can easily be added (maybe even a future level editor).
Review Summary
Very short story about a last minute search for a wedding diamond. There's really not much to say about this. Visual build is ok - some detailing of the church. NPC dialogue scripting is decent. I just found it slightly implausible.
Review Summary(tentative)
Whimisical themed CTM, in which you watch various movies (each one a poetic, mob-themed area where you collect mob heads for the monument) at a theater (the central hub). Areas can be attempted in any order and are primarily floating islands around the central area. Sources for stone, wood, and food are plentiful - but higher tier materials seem well portioned. The areas themselves are small to moderate, relying mostly on natural darkness spawns. Lots of lore and personal touches throughout.
Review Summary
Get at the other side of 15 levels by crafting, building, and jumping with clever assortments of items. This one requires some real out of the box thinking, as you are given very limited inventory of items and red herrings, and are required to find a way across a 10 block gap. A few too many of the puzzles rely on building a stair and jumping from the top - but each level is its own clever challenge. There's a nice clue and reset system as well. Visually, there's not much to look at - just focus on the green starting and red goal platforms.
Review Summary
Despite what sounded like a potentially interesting concept, this is just a tiny arena to fight in after choosing from 3 unbalanced classes. The 'win' condition is manual too. The build doesn't even look like a chess board.
Review Summary
Your vacation is cut short by a mysterious spire containing 5 caves to explore and obtain 'samples'. An adventure played in survival mode (similar to a CTM). I found the visuals to be nice in most areas, with attention to detail, for example adding ruined furnishings and making stalactites crooked. There is a primary NPC with dialog to support an otherwise thin story, journals with obvious observations of the area you're in and a little bit of suggested direction. Challenge is so-so, mostly darkness (random mobs) and somewhat predictably placed custom spawners that have mobs with block heads but no otherwise obvious customizations. Ghast spawners were placed out of the main path. No blazes, charged creepers, or witch spawners that I saw. The level design seems more visual than functionally making combat more interesting - you are mostly in large open caves with plenty of manueverability or in tight hallways easily controlled by blocks. Effects were pretty good - the test tube samples being experimented on as they are gathered, chest items with NBT loot, a few evaporating doors, the generators in area 5, and the final cutscene. One random / out of place logic puzzle. You can see that this map was created over a decent period of time, and the map maker learned as he went along - by the end, he is incorporating some unique themes - I'm eager to see what is in the next map.
I'm sorry to bother you but it's a WIP map. Please keep checking it. I am working hard to make it. Screenshots are not yet up because I have not gotten enough done yet. There will be a trailer too, with music I will make.
And one more thing....
This is going to be a BIGmap, and it will take a LONG time.
Review Summary
You are a Japanese general, trapped on island as US forces invade, during WWII. Survive as long as you can. Small world - more of a custom spawner test than a real adventure. The build of the island is good, as are the WWII vehicles - although the bedrock wall still takes something away and it would be nice if you could get up onto the boats. Effects include flying TNT (fired rockets) and falling potions (aircraft bombs) - which I might have enjoyed more if TNT griefing was on. Quite a few spawners make it challenging. You can replenish your bread in a bunker, but eventually you will be overrun.
What is your opinion on reviewing work in progress maps? Criticism on gameplay mechanics (e.g. wild battles too redundant, saving system annoying, gym battles too easy) early on before I build the entire map in a less favorable style can benefit future construction of the adventure map.
I've had a complaint about the save system which I actively ruminate for alternate methods. Noteblock music is reported to cause lag in lower-end computers. Certain gym battles are too easy and some are almost impossible. (Although it will be intentional for the later half of gyms to be "near impossible.")

Also have downloaded Crystal Tower, but I'm unsure I'll be able to figure out the puzzles.
What to meet us in person? Well come and check out the server we play on called Archaven!
Bane is great.
ooh - I need to look at Crystal Tower too

There are 7 LP's running the latest version so rare bugs may yet be found. Updates will be critical only.
Just watched the first 3 min of cubfan's LP. I think I'm in!
