I just 'committed' myself to my next Custom Adventure Map and filled out a 'project plan'.
Estimate is >280 hours to complete (70 days or so). So I'm thinking this will launch mid-October, depending how many Minecraft releases come out in between and delay/distract me. So possibly this would come out right when the game moves from Beta to Gold.
I should know by Monday if that estimate is over- or under-kill.
Egad. I thought you stopped updating that thread because the forum stopped alerting me to updates, but i see you are still going strong? How many have you played total?
I like your simple list. My OP feels cluttered to me...
Anyway, i feel strongly that an artist needs to be constantly experiencing the works of other artists, to stay relevant and inspired. Every writer i've ever seen advice from, their #1 recommendation is; read.
As to my next map... I spent 4 hours last night fighting with the nether. Seems i am trying to select and modify too large of areas and keep crashing or running out of memory (even though i have 16gb). I may have to see if mcedit can help, but not sure if it works on nether.

WoW, that seems... staggering : D Thats also amazing to me, personally I never know what I am doing, I sit down to make a map, with basically no ideas, and just start making it. Slowly...very slowly... a map starts to form, and somehow, it gets finished lol.

Congratulations on the 100 maps milestone! :biggrin.gif:
can i know more about your upcoming map in a pm, please?
No. :smile.gif:
But I'll tease a little here and there.
For instance, it will have a significant Nether experience.
I just finished the boundaries for both the Nether and Normal world. I almost choked.
The Nether area is about 600x600 blocks... with 5 portals back to the normal world. And I choked a little when it translated into a Normal world map that is now 4700x4200 blocks. 4x the size of my Fear in a Handful of Dust map.
This caused me a problem. I had intended to make minecart tracks from a central hub, out to the endpoints of the map in case of death. However, those would be 2000 block Minecart tracks (which take a long time to ride... if you've seen my Superheroes Map). So I have to change my plans and make these 'transport' tracks in the Nether so they're around 200 blocks. So let's say you die on the eastern edge of the Normal world. You'll respawn in the middle of the normal world, have to enter a portal to the Nether, ride the transport to the eastern edge of the Nether. Then go through another portal back to the real world. I am not sure if dropped items 'decay' when you go to/from the nether. So this will be something important for me to playtest.
Hey guys - I'm looking for a texture pack that includes ARMOR, where the armor is mostly transparent but it adds a backpack or jetpack, bandolier/holsters, or wristguards. So you can have your favorite skin show through but it just adds flavor.
I feel like I've seen one before but hard to search on that criteria...
They left me some nice feedback on one of my maps, and I'm hoping they publish a play through soon. Definitely check out their channel. As someone who plays Minecraft with my own son and his friends, I found "The Minecraft Crew" channel to be awesome. Very 'cute'!
Hey rmalec! I just wanna tell you that the release of LOA is this friday! I invite you to be the first one who will rate our map :smile.gif:! Altho there will maybe be some bugs as its the first release ^^

Just a note: I am working on a new map. Secret so far. I am largely waiting for 1.8 before I go too far, because I have a feeling it will affect some of my choices.

Awesome!
I am 23% done with my next map and I am SCARED TO DEATH that 1.8 is going to break it.
I can't tell you how excited I am about my new map. I've got some screenshots, but I don't want to tease it too early.
I'm not going to rate it on my adventure scale, because it won't be fair to Jep3. This is not an adventur map. It's a HARD survival map that makes clever use of Minecraft mechanics OTHER THAN mob fights. My main problem is that it was so slow to move (swim) everywhere that it became annoying. But... IF YOU LIKE SURVIVAL MAPS definitely give this one a try!
In the back of my mind I was hoping I might find one worth asking the owner if I could spice it up. I wasn't inspired to do so with the first 3.

Downloaded. It may be a few days before I get a chance, but I'm a Super Mario fan!
Looking forward to it.
