There's a new poll question. The mod FancyPack adds furniture, tables, and more to Minecraft, and it would make GoombaVille much cooler, but it would mean that downloading it would be a requirement just to play this map. Vote in the poll! First option to 100 votes wins...
Welcome to GoombaVille, the land of dreams. It's a town with maybe 40-odd buildings. Some are plain but hide surprises inside, some are beautiful from the inside AND outside, and all of them are awesome. Most are houses, but some are shops. Can you find all the hidden loot in shops, houses, and even market stalls?
Q: "I haven't downloaded it yet! What's it like??"
A: Think Broville, but more colourful.
Here's the town. It's sprawling all over! It's so awesomely fun to explore! What are you waiting for??
Another view of the near-spawn area. (You can see the entrance to the Underground, a natural cave that's very linear.)
Before you download, here are mods that will help you enjoy the town. You don't need to download any of them, but some new things will appear if you do... although some might be obsolete now...
- The Stained Glass mod. Certain windows become more colourful, and the glassblowers' becomes cooler.
- Butterflies!! They flit around, and I released a few out of gold jars. They seem to make everything more carefree to look at...
- Download Randomobs! You won't need it for anything, but it makes Minecraft sooooo much nicer.
- Better Glass makes everything pretty.
cool map. I like the mini trees and shops. I suggest you should get some people in helping with the town. If you want to, I could help with a couple buildings. I'm very good at building and modeling.

You could build some stuff in the condemned-due-to-sinkhole building (not present in the current map, but basically a narrow natural sinkhole with a hut over it), like underground ruins? The town will have to be bigger before other people can help, but I'm willing... eventually.
The town is now larger (a lot larger, compared to earlier), there are more shops than houses (because shops are fun to make ), and overall everything is better. There's also the Underground, a surface cave (natural) with future plans (wait and see) and a bit of backstory about the town at the end of the cave. Look forward to it!
- More shops to loot immediately after spawning. (To counterbalance this, the initial inventory I was using with invincible gold tools and stuff will be removed to make it fair for SMP.)
- An expanded Underground.
- More houses and better roads.
- A ladder down to a dungeon, somewhere. (am downloading X-ray pack right now)
Even though nobody's responding,Version 3 is official!
It delivers all the promises I made earlier, and I also added a newsroom. It's not where the GoombaVille Times has their printing press (it's just a branch office), but lots of writing gets done there. And a dungeon has been discovered to the east!
The inventory has been cleared for this new update, though. No more invincible gold tools (the stuff I was using).
The long way down to the dungeon of dreams skeletons everywhere.
I like the town, actually :biggrin.gif:
The shops were well designed and the apartment is simply cozy
I think it goes very well with the texture pack "Jolicraft" (Try it)
It's shameful that there were very few houses, so I started building a few for my entertainment.
I'm looking forward to more updates and builds.
Thats a very nice town you got there...ssssSssss

Too bad Minecraft did not include iron gauntlets. Trees can be punched easily.

Thank you! All my building is done in Peaceful, though... otherwise the Underground would be bigger
I've never used Jolicraft. If it's hi-def... I can't install that. Otherwise I'll try it.

eww cobblestone
I could help (probably with redstone)
My custom texture pack (made by me) makes cobblestone into nice-looking stone bricks. And I've always liked the way it looks anyway... :tongue.gif:
I'll probably make a Redstone Building at some point. It will have large floors and plenty of room. I'll make the simple stuff I've figured out (every logic gate thanks to Minecraft Wiki, RS-NOR latches, an obsidian trap basement), then call in an expert to do really complex stuff like locks.
As for everybody else, save your really creative work for when I release version 4 in about 30 minutes. I will then turn the save with the best buildings into the official version, or find somebody who can use MCedit and ask them to copy-and-paste everything into one map.
Also, I've been wanting to release different SMP versions based on the server style. True Freebuild is loaded with diamonds, Survival has maybe like one diamond in one hidden chest, Survival Freebuild has a few diamonds and goodies, and RP might have different RP items once I figure out how that works. (inexperienced with RP)

Expert for locks? Ha. Locks are so easy I can make one in my sleep (if you want I really could make you one)
Guys, the point of a continous ever-expanding creation is that I'll NEVER finish it. This means you won't be able to build very much in the town before a new update, but it also means there's always more content.
Everybody who said to themselves that they'd download it upon completion, you can either wait until I die or download it now and roll with it.
My good computer is returning tomorrow, so I'll be able to start an LP with my friend FrozenSol and also work on GoombaVille. There are so many map spinoffs I want to make... nether GoombaVille, apocalypse GoombaVille (compatible with LAST DAYS 32x32 probably), underground GoombaVille... so many ideas, so little time. I know! I'll make a poll and you can vote on the spinoff map you want.

I will build a house to anyone's specifications (with their name on it) as long as it's fairly small and realistic. (no floating death castles)

I'm still taking requests, though. If anybody wants to respond they will have my undivided attention due to lack of activity.

Version 4! New and improved! With a secret Underground shop full of goodies!
And a pig spawner, designed to localize all mob spawns to one enclosed room! Open the door at your own risk, and bring a sword.
The electronics shop. It brought me back to the days when Radio Shack sold components instead of televisions... *sniffle*
WHAT'S YOUR PIG LEVEL AT??
IT'S OVEEEEER 9000- *smothered by pigs*
Don't place ANY grass near this building. I had to pave it really fast after they started leaking out.

EDIT: Tantalizingly out of reach from the main Underground, I found a huge snake-den of caves.
Look at that! It's everywhere! Maybe if you dug out of the dungeon you could get lost, but you'd be destroying historical relics...
