Quick update, sorry for not replying to recent comments. I am enjoying your videos Stroved, keep em going!
Criswelvania Chapter 2 is shaping up nicely now. I had to change the map "seed" to prevent the seas and all bodies of water from freezing over, which ever since 1.6 has happened, very inconveniently for me! I did kind of like the colder climate though, but I needed a way to control and limit the ice formation. In the new chapter, a colder winter has descended upon the lands of Criswelvania than ever before. A lot of familiar areas are getting improved or expanded on, there will be new roads, villages, and other settings to explore, and some interesting uses for maps in mind. 2-4 player co-op is better supported as well, mainly beds and the fact that Nether works in SMP now. I've got lots planned but I hope to get as much built as possible before 1.7 so I can devote my time then to working in the new content (pistons, dreamworlds..!).
Thanks for your continued support, stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks!
The new leg of your journey will begin with a quest to find the whereabouts of Pirate Captain Bart DaNasty, missing at sea for a year, presumed dead. Supposedly he found something strange in his journeys, something perhaps related to the sudden winter bearing down upon the lands around Criswelvania, more harsh than any in living memory. Can you solve the riddle? You will journey to strange new lands and need all of your resources, wits and experience to turn the Fangs of Winter.
Look forward to the next installment of Criswelvania with even more adventure and expanded storyline, coming this summer!

Thanks... although I think you discounted my landscaping efforts in the detail department! :wink.gif: Ah well, any press, they say. Congrats on the new map btw, looks tasty.

It's been a long while since I played. I'll go recheck!
This being my first adventure map my opinion might not mean much, but I loved it. There's always a treasure or a new place to explore at every nook and cranny of the map. I enjoyed the combat, but I have to say one thing: damn the clock tower!
No, that's a 1.6 bug, fixed in the upcoming new version. If it really annoys, you can fix it yourself by changing the world seed using NBTEdit. Try this one: "1419408564" will prevent the ice from forming (change before you load the map for the first time). I'm still looking for a better seed because there are conspicuous spots with this one where no rain will fall, but it's better than the frozen ponds and oceans.

I thought it wouldn't change a biome that has already been created? Seed only influences newly generated areas. ?

In this case, the oceans and ponds that are freezing over are pre-biome, generated before the Halloween update, but evidently the new biomes are still created for those areas, and since the 1.6 update, snow and ice regeneration reveals that these areas are now marked as frozen regions.
Changing the seed affects any new chunks generated as far as terrain, but it affects the weather globally. Existing frozen areas won't melt since that behavior is not coded in (yet?), but new snow areas determined by the seed will begin to form with every storm, and still water will begin to freeze immediately.
I successfully avoided the frozen seas I see in others' playthroughs because I waited to update to 1.6, anticipating problems. Fortunately I read about the seed-changing trick before getting back to work in earnest on Criswelvania where, after updating, sure enough the seas began to freeze over which was a big problem that stumped me for a while. I restored to a backup and tried the seed trick and was back in business. I did go back and add a bunch of extra ice and snow by hand to better blend the back winter area with the later areas of the game, so if you see a little ice on the lakes next version, it's not a glitch unless the whole thing is freezing over.
It is compatible, but not updated yet. You may need the ladders you find in chests to fix a couple broken ladders (extra challenge!), the minecart sections won't work as intended but all areas are still accessible, and almost all the outdoor water will start to freeze over which is not intended, but none of these things break the map. In fact, since 1.6, the Nether level is playable in SMP, so the map works well as a co-op adventure.
Keep watching the thread though, an update is coming soon with lots of new challenges!
These pictures look so nice i will download it and is there treasures in this map :unsure.gif:?

My 8 year old was playing this today (on peaceful). He liked it, but when he got to the part with the redstone tick tick ticking he got a little nervous that Herobrine was going to show up and he quit.

I've seen many lesser men than him lose their sanity to that clock tower. :wink.gif:

Anyways, thanks for the map. It was great!
It is good, but I bumped it anyway.
