Just wondering what you guys would think of this... Let me outline a hypothetical situation.
A sign points to the entrance to an epic and long dungeon, promising great rewards.
You hack and slash your way through the dungeon, falling into traps and dying many times.
At the end of the dungeon is the prize room. You have put forth a huge effort to get here.
Inside this room is a wall made of gravel, with a switch on the floor. A sign says to flick the switch to get your prize.
You activate the switch.
The gravel falls down, revealing a wall covered in signs.
The signs read out the lyrics to a certain song.
Then you hear this:
Love it. Cus then, i get to pass it on to others. and so begins the Rick roll of hell. Oh and, I am awaiting the final hours till Kaizo Caverns. I promise to beat it within the week!
I don't know why this thread isn't more active, these maps are the best thing that I have yet to experience in minecraft.
Also, as for the rick roll at the end of a long dungeon, it might not be a great idea. One of my favorite parts of any of your maps was in Sea of Flame with the huge dungeon full of crypts underneath the lava (and the end when you have to cross the lava room with the skeletons on balconies on the sides). Great dungeon, great rewards, but not TOO good of rewards. Just right. I think players like being frustrated, but also like to know their efforts accomplish something. More flies with honey, etc.
I still think you should do a city map! Focus on exploration and the ability to rebuild old abandoned/ruined buildings.
Allright.
#1: I ragequitted fairly fast. I made my sandy base on the obsidian square at spawn, and all I crafted was a workbench and a stone pick (I got the stone from a asplosion). I was farting around Mt. Killayoua (clever name) found the :mossystone:, and thought, "HURR DUUR HEZ TRYIN 2 TRIK MEH." So I mined it, fell into the dungeon, *somehow* killed the creepers with the lava, grabbed all the stuff (which I freaked out over) and then got blewed up because I forgot to put a torch down. I ragequitted. I also treasured my single stick :tongue.gif:. Of all the maps, this was my favorite. It was evil, funny, and fairly linear. I also liked it because it had the most signposts. Your sarcastic comments made me rage and lol at the same time. I named this world 'Nether on Earth.' I give this one a 9/10!
#2 This was both my most sucessful and least explored. I spawned on the airship, and I'm like, "W00T! Glowstone, wooden planks!" I got really confused when it caught on fire, and I wasn't even aware it was until I read the thread a ssssssecond ago :tongue.gif:. I made my base in the trophy room, since it was the brightest thing. I haven't died once. I'm still exploring the vast expanse of caverns. In fact, the only other underwater building I explored was the pirate ship, simply because underwater exploring is almost impossible without vast amounts of bread (I burned through the 20 I crafted). I found all the wool EXCEPT brown [as I was writing this I found the brown. I"M DONE!!!], but I'm not done exploring the caverns, so I'm sure I'll find it XD. I made all of the gem blocks too. If you want, I'll post a picture, but, eh. I named my world, "Underwater Challenge."
This was my least favorite. There were very few signs, I completed it fairly easily, and the whole thing was mostly exploring very long, repetitive caverns. I give it a 5/10.
#3 This was meh. I died a million times (more than the Sea of Flame!), made a nice cobble base at spawn, grew 6 trees, and found a few dungeons. It's incredibly hard to get from one island to another. Evan the day is hard with all the mob mods I've installed. I found the giant dungeon under the lava (which sucked, because I died and had to go all the way back) got 64 diamond, 59 gold, 15 iron (IRONic, isn't it?), 5 stacks of Lapis Lazuli, and no redstone. I liked the desert islands the most. They were filled with brain slimes and creepers :tongue.gif:.
It seems you tried harder with the signs, and the landscape sort of speaks for itself, but the map isn't perfect. It's WAY too big and nonlinear. It seems the Kaizo Caverns are big but linear, so I'm happy about that. It was kind of boring, seeing the same islands over and over because I couldn't get to any others. I named my world 'The Anti-Aether.' I'm not done with my runthrough, mind you, sooo... so far, I give it a 6.8/10. []
#4 Looks fun and evil. Maybe you can add some last minute sarcastic signs? *puppy eyes* So far, looks like a 8/10.
#5 NETHER THEMED PLEASE!
#6 Snow/Ice themed?
That's all the comments I got. Please reply!

For #2, you shouldn't really need that much bread - there are several ways you can create simple air pockets underwater - one is to simply place a wooden door down on the sea floor and open it - you can breathe while standing in the doorway.
You can also make a block over hang and place a torch underneath the block (I think signs and paintings and ladders would work too) - this also makes an air pocket. I suppose I could have put the Victory Monument in the dungeons, so the player would be less likely to use it as a base or shelter, but I didn't because I didn't want to risk it getting damaged by creepers. Mostly #2 is just a map that gives the player a reason (and opportunity) to build underwater - vanilla MC water is never deep enough. And the dungeon is best thought of as a "side quest" you can go do if you want a break from underwater stuff. :smile.gif:
For #3 it's big because... the map is about exploring and platforming - I think though, in the future, I might make another SH map in the sky, but make it tiny. Like a survival island type map, only you're on a floating rock. So you might enjoy a more restricted and focused experience like that. As far as redstone goes, I thought there was redstone in the map, but if there wasn't any in 1.2, then I'm 100% sure there is in 1.3H. (There are some new small floating islands, and one is loaded with redstone.)
#4 Should be release in a few hours, whenever Zisteau uploads the first episode of his LP. :smile.gif:
Edit :
Oh also, about a snow or ice type map - the problem there is that there is nothing inherently hostile about snow and ice in Minecraft. Now... if there was a thermal bar for the player, and you had to avoid spending too much time near extreme heat or cold, otherwise you start to be damaged (Kind of like a breathe meter but fire and ice symbols instead of bubbles).... then we might have something going on there.
Well. Glad you replied. First of all,the Rick Roll trap idea is great, but A. It'd require a hella redstone and note blocks, and B. The player would think it was a lava trap. Otherwise, thumbs up!
About 2: I really didn't know about that underwater trick, I'll have to try it out. Also, I don't know what I was thinking, exploring the caverns/dungeon was fun. Maybe I was pissed that I couldn't explore the water more.
About 3: I really did find loads of redstone, just didn't bother to mine it ;P.
About 4: Wootwoot! It's almost out!
About 5: Neettttheeeerrr oooonnneeeee...................dotdotdot.......
About 6: The thing about ice is... Tis naught stone! Thee turneth into ye olde water when broken! Ye cannot make ice tools! Ho ho ho! (it could als be useful for traps, since it's incredibly slippery.) I'm just saying, you should consider it.
About future projects: I would LOVE to be involved in any wa possible. This is my favorite map[series]. I can beta test, help make traps/maps, and will do let's plays once I get a more pwerful computeer.
(sorry for typos, I typed this on my Kindle)
NYEEEEEH
I need help. I can't find any caverns indside Starlit Cavern or whatever that other one is called (I remember thinking it should be called Gravel Mindf===). Also, Kaizo has WAY too many TNT traps :tongue.gif:. It's like invisible coin blocks in the real one.
HALP!

You're asking for HELP? Too MANY traps? Awww I'm sorry. Let me make a special little baby edition just for you so you don't cry! To quote the Heavy from TF2 : "ENTIRE TEAM IS BABIES!"
Hahahaha, go die in a fire. :smile.gif:
Heh... I'm just kidding, on a serious note, I guess I'll give you a small hint.
Go to Legacy of Contempt and keep searching downwards. You will find an entrance to a dungeon area. Clear the dungeon, and you will find a passage to Intersection 02.
HOWEVER. This aid is not free -- know that forever more your achievements are not solely your own doing, and that you have traded a piece of your honor as a video gamer to progress.
*JaxinZ's rank went from Pyromaniac CreeperBuster to MineN00b.
Yes, master.
I searched the Starlir Cavern more than the Legacy of Contempt, because the dud gravel traps were seriously gettimg to my head. You, my good sir, are evilll...
3 caverns down, three parts of the victory monument finished. Currently at the second intersection. I have to say that I found the Starlit Cavern more difficult than the Lonely Cavern, and the Legacy of Contempt harder than that, so the difficulty is scaling nicely. I've got about 5 hours of footage now to make episodes from.
The in the victory monument I imagine will take forever...
So far, this is already as good as Sea of Flame (maybe even better)
It's so frightening every time I turn a corner.
I only have the black wool found so far
Edit: Make that too...
and magenta from a near-death experience.
I'm definitely never going to find them all seeing as these already took about 2 hours of searching through 1 part of this world
I am currently playing Sea of flame and finding it extremely difficult but awesome fun, you really have to manage your rescources well, and I barely got a shelter up on the first night. I'm definitely gonna keep this one and will try the other super hostiles. =)
I'm getting in the sea of flame one with a friend (private SMP) and we both are having a blast
Searching the 4 first days for that sapling was totally EPIC, but now that we got the monument completed, we just realized how pain the labyrinth is
Still, got a lil' question:
What was in that mossy cobble stone tower full of creepers and (maybe 100...) TNT we blew up... Cause, ya know, might be interesting to see what it was...
It's a Sssssssssssstatue.
Green skin, 4 legs, frowning face... explodes...
I guess a lot of people blow it up before getting a proper look at it. :|

I'd find that more of a reward than an actual prize.
Since, well, recieving a prize at teh END of a dungeon when you've already conquered everything is a bit pointless.
IN OTHER NEWS, Construction of my UNDERWATER LAKE on endless deep is going swimmingly, no pun intended.
