There's two wood blocks that aren't too hard to get to, and there are saplings and dirt on the island...but you'll have to look for them.
Hail to the king!
HOLY SHITE!
Edit: This map is the best way to level up new characters.
with 1.6(.6), much changed:
I started with the Sea of Flame. I'll admit, I was a wimp and used Peaceful several times xD. It was still awesome, and difficult.
The Endless deep was... lame. I found one dungeon and all the random "junk" included every piece of wool I needed. Getting into the Victory Monument was harder than getting all the wool... I'll admit, I probably wasn't playing correctly. I didn't find that many chests with the "filled to brim" of wool.
The Infernal Sky was awesome! This one I didn't cheat with. By the end, I had an entire house of Lapis Lazuli, a fireplace, a tree farm, and more Diamond than I knew what to do with. I actually didn't get to the tree on the first night (I actually ignored it for 2 or so days). I made my house by excavating the Gravel out of various rocks near the starting location. Then, I (by hand) knocked off the block of stone underneath some Glowstone, and then walled off the entrance hole with some Gravel. It worked great for the first few nights, and then I got to the tree :biggrin.gif:. In general, it was fun, but a bit easy once I found where the veins of materials were (And Lapis Lazuli abundance makes me happy. Lapis Lazuli is completely useless outside of making blocks, and I loved making Lapis Lazuli houses :biggrin.gif: ).
Currently, I'm working on the Black Desert (I watched Zisteau's run on the Kaizo Caverns and felt it would be cheating to go in knowing what to expect). I LOVE this map, more than the others by far. I made the "mistake" of falling into the underground portion of the map before I had found a tree. I spent most of the time exploring the underground area before summoning up the courage to go to the surface and find some wood.
The Tombs were entertaining, but at the same time irritating. I loved the Tomb of the Warrior King, and that was my favorite overall. The Tomb of the Forgotten Queen annoyed me, and it took me FOREVER to ferry all the items out of the last chest. The Tomb of the Jester Prince promoted every idea of paranoid I had ever had (On a sidenote, is there any way to get into the room with the Wool Chest and Wood/Gold/Iron Statue without destroying part of the Obsidian Wall between you and the statue?). The Tomb of the Covetous Princess was just suspicious xD. Sadly, it took me until seeing the chest at the very far side to realize that the ceiling was made of Gravel xD (another sidenote, Is there anything in there other than the two chests? Because there were two chests with Light Grey Wool in the Tombs of the Forgotten Royals. One with the Warrior King and one with the Covetous Princess, with the Princess's being the easier one to aquire).
The Mossy Cobblestone Fortress was so fun to infiltrate and destroy. I did SO many tunnel networks above, below, around and through the entire fortress to take down all the spawners. I nearly shitted myself when I heard Ghasts outside of the Nether xD. However, Once I made a tunnel along the inside of the wall, I could dig around and find each spawner easily, with the Ghasts being incapable of hitting me. However, the Archer Towers with Skeletons and Zombies were far harder to deal with. I had to use TNT from the Jester Prince to pop them open and destroy them. Most of the time, I would open a small hole, in the top an drop 1 block of TNT inside to kill them all.
The little Mossy Cobblestone fort on the surface was interesting though. In that fort are the MOST Spider Spawners I had EVER seen in one spot at the same time. I nearly screamed when I saw them all. There are like 20 of them!
Though I'm not sure if the chest of duplicated wool is intentional or not, the wool in there isn't supposed to be another colour (if that's what you assumed like I did). That is you can find all the colours in the map somewhere.
Also I loved that spider fort on the surface as well! It was so so devilishly thought out.
It could be possible for a player to trigger the Fun Unit in the tomb, and bury the wool there, without the player noticing that there was a chest, so they would never know to dig to get back to it.
I love difficulty, but I'm strongly against burying things randomly, as I view that as mindless luck-based searching, rather than maneuvering through an environment using skill.
So, secondary wool location. :smile.gif:
Also make it comparable to Kaizo Caverns YES PLEASE!!
I mean, the tools are nice. They just reduce a time sink (golden ax, you will be missed).
However, the armor basically gives you god mode. If you use it, it trivializes basically everything about the map that is supposed to be hard (although I'm tempted to pull the set out of storage for the red wool).
edit for explanation:
The relics just have their durability boosted way up. This works fine for tools, but not for armor. Damage reduction is a function of current durability over base durability. So if you take some low base durability gold armor and edit its current durability really high, then you can end up with over 100% damage reduction rather easily (supposed to max at 80%).
Yes, you can actually go over 100% reduction. This creates the ridiculous scenario where you actually get HEALED when you get hit.
Yes, but the overshield doesn't last forever. In fact, from some LP's I've seen, when it does run out, it's usually at a hilariously bad time, and the player gets killed quite rapidly. I don't think I'll change it, although I might remove some of the redundant pieces. I know how the formula works. :tongue.gif:
But it's hard to take the time to go back to previous maps when what you really want to do is keep working on new ones...
<.<
>.>
therefore all the TNT traps that are on the super hostile maps no longer work.
When you mine a block above the placed TNT trap the pressure plate falls off before it explodes.
Just wanted to say that I FREAKING LOVE the Kaizo Caverns map.
It is really good. At first I thought it was small and going to be over quickly, but boy did I get a wake up call haha.
Anyway, just stopped by in the thread to say how awesome I think the map is, Good job on it!!!
(read: make more Super Hostile maps! :DDDD)
both was much easier than i thought: arrowspam and quick dashes for torching, as well es two (2) gravelwalls to retreat to was sufficient for the creeper hordes; my new char pretty much owned everything above ground (copper pickaxe was my best friend; removing hellstone bricks and making shortcuts to chests.
resumee:
„normal“ is too easy in minecraft and the above-ground area and first few tunnels in the castle are too ****ing easy.
more in the castle topic
(i only used commands to make the water sucker thing, not for actually playing! :unsure.gif: )
Second, my desert has a weed problem...
Thirdly, um... Yeah...
This made me laugh so hard.
I would love to see you come up with a city survival.
