You decide what is cheating, but also how satisfying your victory is.
Well, he claims several hundred thousand downloads, so using that number and ad.fly's ~$3/1k views number posted on their site, something like $2000-3000 if he's been using it the whole time.
Sure.
I think you should be able to craft flint from a gravel block. The current system is you just have to keep placing down gravel and breaking it, waiting on the random number generator to give you some gravel.
It's stupid.
Yes, because he wants to get some gravel from the gravel...
You just lost the game.
Er, I much prefer just using bone meal and cutting down the tree. Sure, you can use that logic, but remember: Sometimes you might not get a sapling from a tree.
And thank you Vechs for telling me it's OK. I agree that it's a dumb mechanic. Notch really out to allow you to just place gravel into the crafting slot and to turn it into flint.

Annoyance, panic and relief.

Nope.
Growing trees is the creation of new resources. Getting flint is a direct one to one conversion of preexisting resources.
A sapling left alone will eventually grow. A piece of gravel could be destroyed hundreds of times without turning to flint if the rng hates you.
A sapling doesn't require your attention. You can go do other stuff while it grows. Breaking gravel for flint requires your constant attention.
Saplings have a quick grow option if you go hunt skeletons. There is no equivalent quick option with gravel->flint.
If you start twisting the logic that way then you may as well also spawn yourself infinite cobble as soon as you make a cobble generator or infinite bread as soon as you have a seed. You wouldn't do that though, would you?
The key point there is really just how one is creation and one is conversion.
A better example of an equivalent scenario would be deleting a stack of logs and 8 char/coal and giving yourself a stack of charcoal. A direct conversion of preexisting resources minus time. But even that isn't completely equal since a furnace doesn't need your attention either.

That was because Legendary, so far, is the only CTM map that has a complete variety of areas and environments. (Nobody else has done it because, well, it's a big task, it's hard not to copy Vechs, and Legendary is the only fitting name really.) Any other map might get boring because the areas have to be similar as to fit into the theme.
Vechs did say before that he doesn't like using technical blocks, as they are often broken in the next update. Although the way Cranica used Block 36 in the Forgotten Skies, to make invisible cover and invisible waterways was awesome.
It is in the first dungeon. A lot of people tend to ask that question.
You just lost the game.
...
Dungeon two is actually inside of dungeon one and can be fairly easy to miss because obsidian just makes things suck like that.
Knowing the actual answer is helpful if you want to look like a smartass instead of just an ass.
Not that Gravel has that big of a use anymore unless you're desperate for arrows while playing Legendary. The severe lack of feathers and the fact you only need maybe 9 or 10 flint for a good amount of flint and steels makes gravel quasi-useless.
WHAT?!
Danger zone.
