I regret you doing that too...can't place torches within a melting range of alot of the larger ones, because then, game crashes.
In other news, 1.10 will have 2,653 possible potions. Inb4Minecraftgetswaytoobloodyeasy.
Not counting super complicated recipies, you need ghast tears to make healing potions, on top of needing a water bucket to make potions in the first place.
Vechs just needs to keep up the strategy of withholding iron, and maybe lay off the ghasts until the endgame, and things are fine.
Though with things as they are, Blazes are kinda nerfed, since fire resistance potions are not only a thing, but are mainly created using the drops from Blazes.

Well, the thing with Fire Resistance potions is that you also need slimeballs to make the Magma Cream. Because slimes are so rare, you won't be able to make very many potions from them, and even then, that requires you play on a map with areas where slimes will spawn at all.

Jeb nerfed fire and lava greatly too, so fire resistance isn't a huge thing either...but even if Iron is withheld until later in the map, the map usually gets harder later in the map...and with the large amounts of everything in order to make potions, all of the hard areas get much easier. Withholding everything until the harder parts doesn't work as well as the hard areas are usually where you'll need said potions.
About potions: To contain them, we need glass, to get glass, we smelt sand or find glass in chests. To prevent us from making vanilla potions, Vechs could replace the glass blocks within chests with glass panes (just to give us windows for decorational purposes), and replace all sand (both in terrain and in chests) with gravel.

STOP STOP! we want potions...

I kill creepers to make TNT to kill more creepers, it's an ongoing process.
I'm a Tails fan, get over it
Yeah, I want potions too, but I'm sure Vechs wants us to reach a certain "tech level" before allowing us to brew them.
point taken, how about he gives us the glass, but only gives us the ingredients to make certain potions, and as we move on, we get more ingredients :biggrin.gif:
I was playing pain water and I destroyed one of the gravel blocks in the branch off of the first main tunnel.. as far a I can tell I screwed it up so badly that it is now unbeatable, has anyone done this and beat it the normal way? I no vechs did mention an alternate way to beat it should we b stupid and screw it up... can I get a hint on what this is thanks everyone

Super Hostile Maps Completed: Spellbound Caves :)... and nearly done with like 5 more, but it goes slow when you're workin on 5
Hey Vechs, why not place a chest near the monument or somewhere near the end that gives materials for repairing the Monument? Frankly, I love your maps, but the Ghasts keep destroying the monument. Meybe this could be one of you moments of not-hating-us?
You didn't build a bunker around it after the first time?
silverfish do not seem to do any damage to me. Is this supposed to be the case? I'm not realy impressed with the anoying midgets, all they do is push you around.
Apparently they can only damage you if they hit the top half of your body.
How come every chest in each of your maps is completely black? What the f$*# is going on?!
Blame notch. When you update a map from 1.7 to 1.8 all the chests get a new, smaller model, but the lighting doesn't get updated. As a result, the new chests are surrounded by an old chest sized area of darkness. Dropping a torch nest to them should fix it.
if you have MCedit you can go into the world options menu and change it to hardcore when 1.9 actually comes out
Ah, thanks. I was going to wait for the 1.9 release to play it anyways, but I suppose I can change it to Hardcore right now, seeing as I'm using the 1.9-pre v2.
I am currently replaying nightmare realm on smp with my bro (I used mc edit to make a new gameover edit area close to the start for easy compatibility)
Here are some nasty screenshots! this map is 10x harder in smp!
so many ghasts... lol and they were all firing fireballs at me!
This is what you get when you play with my brother... he doesnt try and take out spawners! he just runs through to get diamond blocks... making more stuff spawn and losing 1 diamond block. luckily I removed the spider spawners... shoulda removed these guys
talk about meteor shower!
All pictured were taken with creative AFTER we completed the area. so dont pick about it
I am playing through nightmare realm. I just discovered the "secret to everybody area" with the "bonus loot" bedrock area. I went through and after almost falling through the webs, got to the wall and placed a block, saving my life. I got out by making a boat. I just wanted to let you know that I pwned you :smile.gif:.
Super Hostile maps I've completed: Spellbound Caves (Yeah, I pretty much suck.)

Obligatory link to my puzzle adventure map.
