So I guess there's no reason I shouldn't upgrade to 1.9v2 right now then, before I have that happen, since that upgrade stops Endermen from picking up blocks.
Endermen are mean.
So Vetches, since you would appear to hate Endermen's block abilities as well, I'll let you be the judge. Did I lose the map or does BS get called because of the Endermen?
WHAT?!
Danger zone.
<3
Btw your pots idea is kinda getting into minecraft :biggrin.gif:
K, I'm sorry, but that's just an amateur thing to do on Vechs's part. The red wool isn't even hard, it's just based on luck. Whether an enderman picks up one of the sand blocks or not is representative of player's skill. And, tbh, making Blaze spawners when 1.9 isn't even out yet was stupid also. To me, it seems some of this map was just spit out rather than thought out.
You just lost the game.
Blazes do still need some work I think. They are fine (and quite dangerous) when there are just a few of them, but when there are multiple spawners pumping out a horde of them... LAG LIKE HELL...
Working through some castle atm (forgot the name) and I basically have to put all my stuff in a chest and suicide every other room because I'm down to 1 fps. I suppose I could toggle between peaceful and hard every little bit instead, but that just seems like cheating.
Perhaps some sort of mob cap specific to them so only so many can exist at a time.
Some people play on 1.8, some people on 1.9 pre. It makes sense with the Blaze Spawners
As for that dungeon, Endermen do suck. And the problem is, even when they get nerfed in 1.9, they can still pick up dirt and sand. Which means that dungeon is going to need a major re-design as Endermen CAN ruin that dungeon and your chance of completing the map. It ruined my chances. T_T
Another thing that may need some changing is the giant sheets of snow in the Winter Wonderhell. Breaking some of the larger ones crashes your game...which is more of a detriment than a good trap.
All in all I really did like what I managed to do of this map. My map review:
White: Fairly easy. TNT the Ghasties and you're good to go.
Orange: I didn't find this one quickly. Had to do a bit of searching. Nice.
Magenta: A pain to get to, and Ghasts were everywhere while I tried to. +1.
Lime:
Yellow: EVERYTHING IS HORRIBLE FOREVER.
Gray: Never found it. T_T
Light Gray: I hate this one because I came via the Ribbon and play on Far render distance, and I STILL missed it. Bleh.
Black: Difficult to get to. Also, on the bed...there was a sticky piston...what's the sticky stuff?!
Red: T_T. THAT IS ALL.
Blue: Moderately difficult to get to.
Light Blue: I hate you. I really really hate you. Like, alot.
Green: Very devious. My personal favorite.
Brown: Your idea of a sanctuary is a glass bubble in the middle of 5 slime chunks. Even with light it's still dangerous.
Pink: I loved it, it did feel like an older game. One of my favorite ones.
Cyan: 4 Silverfish spawners + Funbox = RUN MUTHA****A RUN
Purple: Not too difficult, but not that easy either.
Water block: Too easily found, and not well guarded. Could use more pain within that area.
Iron: Ehhhh. Too generous.
Gold: I now want to make a Roller Coaster to top The Kaizonator.
Diamond: I really liked how you guarded this one and your use for where you put it. #2 favorite.
Died a total of 6 times on hard, 2 of which were in the Frozen Cave thing, one in the Home of Swarm, 2 times from traps on the Winter Wonderhell and the last was by the secret chest in the Jester Citadel thing.
As far as I'm aware there are no accessible lava source blocks on the map. I'm really, really glad about this. People use lava as a main fighting source wayyyy too often. Nubs.
Water source block could have been better hidden and better guarded.
Legendary, wood was easy. This map, wood was a bit more difficult due to the abundance of spawners, but still easy. You need to make it more like Kaizo. I loved what you did there with the wood situation. I can understand the reference to SH #6 in Legendary and the PauseUnPause reference in #8, but really - make wood less common next time. Kaizo was your greatest work...you put traps in a ton of resources (something you did alot of in the mine in Merciless Magma Zone) and even the only tree was a trap. You hid wools well also, plus it has alot of veteran traps from pre-notch fix for TNT + Plate, which I like alot.
All in all, a very good map. I don't trust stone anymore. At all.
WHAT?!
Danger zone.
(spoiler'd to reduce thread bloat)
Endermen picking up almost any block will soon be under the realm of control. However in 1.9, when they can still and always will pick up sand and dirt, that dungeon will still have a problem - Endermen taking one crucial block and then when you get to the dungeon there's nothing but exploded rooms. I know sand and dirt are 2 confirmed things they will be able to still pick up. Now if gravel can't be picked up, then Vechs can easily switch the sand with gravel. If it can, then here arises the problem...the entire dungeon is at a fairly good sized risk to be Endermen'd. Since the new spawning code of 1.8 with both passives and hostiles, they spawn in groups. So if a group of Endermen spawn down there, that's 3-4 blocks taken, which...I loaded up another save and hacked my way into there on peaceful using SPC - 3-4 blocks taken is either beyond dangerously close to ruining the map, or it does ruin the wool. It has a difficult but clever block solution, yes...that cannot be argued. What can be argued is whether, while the wool is ingeniously hard to get...is it worth the insanely high chance something out of Vechs' or the player's control can screw up the map?
WHAT?!
Danger zone.
First of all does anyone know where the grey wool is in #8 its the last one I need.
Also I guess you can't blame him for endermen doing what endermen do but you can blame him for giving them the opportunity. That whole dungeon just felt really cheap.
The only thing Vechs could do in this situation is make it so that all of the rooms are 2 blocks high, or light everything up and have only Ghasts spawn there.
Also; to everyone complaining about 'unfairness', the point of a ROMHack is to be unfair. That's why it's 'ROMHack'. Like it or not, it might be intended, in which case, you will have to restart the map if you want full completion.
Although again, in 1.9 Endermen are severely nerfed to where they can only, confirmed so far, pick up dirt and sand. If they can't pick up gravel, then there's a fix in order...an easy one.
WHAT?!
Danger zone.
Video quality is still **** since it was JUST uploaded and still kinda processing, but.
...Sigh. :sad.gif:
then look it up in the wiki, it’s not that difficult.
the post that began it all. oh zisteau, now you're stuck with this guy in war. a mcguyver vs a tyrant, war. lulz.
