I have not tried this yet, but are portals off limits for traveling to different parts of your maps or to use to gather extra resources? Or would using them cause bugs?

Portals are fine, just don't leave the map area and enter normal Minecraft terrain.
On a totally unrelated note, I was just wondering...
How many of you guys out there use the mp3 music included with The Endless Deep?
And a follow up question, would you guys be interested in me acquiring permissions to include more theme music for the rest of my maps and future maps?

The Endless Deep one fit perfectly. I want to see you pick out more music.
And I want to try Black Desert SO MUCH. But for now I'll download it and wait till I get farther in Infernal Sky.
Woo! Time to get this party started! *Downloads Black Desert* (Anything to get away from Infernal Sky, I'm combing that for my last piece of Wool - I swear I've looked everywhere, which means that I'm probably missing something obvious)
*Insta-edit: Nice to see that the Red Wool is going to be nightmare-invoking to obtain again. D:
*Edit 2: That didn't take long. I wonder if anyone else is going to beat my record for 'causing a huge amount of sand to fall and send you far, far away from the tree before you even reach it' (5 minutes, max).
... has been unleashed upon the public. Suffering and torment will follow.
I haven't even downloaded, and yet I feel like crying already. I'm not the bravest one, in fact the second I see a spider in an open field is book it screaming. But somehow, my super paranoia and panicky ways may be perfect to surviving a trap filled desert wasteland. As long as you wouldn't make air pockets in the sand that cause people mining... sand to fall... to a horrible... trap... Oh....... Crap... Now I can't mine sand without fear.
Now that I mention it, I've had a few trap ideas, such as a cloth(or wood, anything flammable really) room that one must flip a switch to open the exit(best used with a locked door found here and an added bonus would be to lock the entrance somehow) that will detonate a single TNT block. The player would be shocked, then think he's been punked, until he sees the fire. The TNT would lead a lava flow near the highly flammable room and light it ablaze.
Here's a crappy diagram of the tunnel (redstone not included). Key: TNT. Lava source. Lava. Flammable. Obsidian. Other block. [] Room

Sorry if your not accepting ideas, just felt like sharing.

As far as I can tell, there are only two big holes in the sand, and both drop you into a lake (the lake may be in hell, but it's just a lake with water and stuff).
I can't tell you much more, because I died. Over and over and over again. (So many times)
I think I'm just going to assume the fetal position on the cold stone floor here, surrounded by torches (and sand), and cry manly man tears or something.
And that's the hitch with trap design. At least with my genre of survival map, where anything goes. That kind of trap works well when you have made up rules to stop people from breaking blocks, but from what I have seen from people LPing my maps, they don't trust anything I make to function properly (and with very good reason) so they simply do things like break down the door.
Thanks for the feedback and ideas though. :smile.gif:
If I did a trapped doorway, here is how I would do it:
Trapped Iron Door Scenario
1) There is an iron door the player wants to get through. There is a button beside it.
2) The player is wise to my dickery, and guesses the button is trapped. (He is correct, it is wired to TNT-- this is the first decoy trap.)
3) The player decided to simply break the door. He does this then backs up, expecting more dickery.
3a) He is correct to be cautious, as the iron door was above a gravel block, when the door is destroyed, the gravel falls onto a pressure plate, activating TNT. (This is the second decoy trap.)
4) The pressure plate is wired to two more groups of TNT. One group behind the player, and the other in front of the player. (This is the third decoy trap.)
5) The player deftly avoids all 3 groups of TNT.
6) The TNT has blown a hole in the cieling, activating the real trap. Approximately 6 to 10 creepers fall into the chamber, and proceed to warmly greet the player. Good times are had by all.
The trick is to anticipate the player not cooperating at all with your first trap, and then trap the route of circumvention to the obvious trap. I don't do stuff like this all the time, because it can get really, really mean, and I at least like to maintain the illusion of being fair to the player. :tongue.gif: I mean I could design traps that would be 100% lethal, but that's just not fair - as much as I hate to do it, I have to make traps that the player can beat if they are really smart about it. :smile.gif:
(For example, a single decoy lava fall was enough to get Zisteau killed, and he's (usually) a very cautious player. Just don't give him leather armor pants, that makes him get crazy.
3a) He is correct to be cautious, as the iron door was above a gravel block, when the door is destroyed, the gravel falls onto a pressure plate, activating TNT. (This is the second decoy trap.)
do you mean floating gravel? isn’t it activated by opening the door, too?
also, you’ll have to make sure there is one block of air between the pressure plate and the gravel block. i saw some traps of you not doing anything because the gravel simply likes to rest on the pressure plate block (i had to chuck an item on them to make everything blow up)
PS: i usually do this: look if gravel or sand is around;
if so, i don’t tread on it when doing anything except moving, and don’t manipulate blocks next to it.
if that’s impossible, or i see through the trap and rather want to patch up a hole than to defuse it (or if i want to build my base there), i make sure i have a gravel-free escape route (yes, on the ceiling, too), activate the trap and run for it.
but sometimes, i make a explosion shaft for the tnt to fall into, hit it, and cover up the shaft above the fallen tnt quickly (i did this on the sea of flames)
I just can't seem to learn... I saw the compilation download and was like "**** it, I'm going back in!"
But I will be going on peaceful until I get back to roughly where I was before my initial game got glitched. I was in a comfortable position then, and I don't see this as cheating because I already once suffered the caverns on normal :tongue.gif:
I said you won on one of Zisteau's videos on youtube, but I take that back. I'm not quitting just yet

sometimes minecraft thinks my keyboard keys are still pressed after i release them. one time this led me to a zombie, one time into the lava. i use INVedit to restore my inventory after such incidents
the time i didn’t die, i reverted the damage the zombie did to my armor and gave myself two pork chops to restore my health back to full, the time i fell into the lava, i got a old level.dat from my dropbox backups and copied the inventory from there to my freshly respawned body.
this is no cheating as i didn’t give me a single heart or item more than i lost (ok, maybe a bit too much/less armor integrity, since i don’t know how much damage zombie hits did to it)
Considering what just happened I will need to re-download the map. At least this explains that block. I re-loaded, looked around, and I wondered if my spawn had changed. After a second, what happened registered.
...
Note: I was fine until I decided on Day 12... Oh, I don't need to mine out that spawner or sleep at night; I can get creepers to blow it up for me!
Point 2: Re: the Cake - ha-ha. Thankfully I brought tons of sand. The amphibious skeletons could not reach me.
Good work!

Thank you also for the answer re: portals
re: Endless Deep music- sadly I will not be playing that one as the water is too dark (though you did suggest a mod); but more important, my computer lags a lot in water. I get killed enough by phantom skeletons and teleporting spiders as it is. That being said, suggested music for each map is a good idea.
Zisteau should not read the below:
Your poke at Zisteau is also hilarious...although I'm not sure if anyone would get it if they don't watch his videos.

Zisteau should not read the below:
You're evil. I'm going to fall to my death eventually.
You'll get feedback soon.
