@king newbs id love to play this map with you guys very few ppl know how to put a map on a server (im not one of them) so id love to play it with you guys
Kaizo Caverns done. Now I've finished Spellbound Caves, Legendary, Sunburn Islands and Kaizo. Would there be a logical next step? (Waking Up somehow scares me )
I would say Sea of Flames, Infernal Skies, and Letharmyr, although SoF and IS will probably be a bit easy for you.. After that, All you left is Nightmare Realm and Waking up
I actually tried NR just now and already ended up in the game-over-hole two times. This map is unfair!
Would probably be better to get even more practice, so SoF will be next. The two romhack maps can die in a fire (for now).
Hello,
I asked this over at Uncharted territory, but I thought I would ask here too as it fits for both maps.
I've played many of your maps and I would like to ask some questions because I am interested in making a CTM map myself.
Which tools did you use to make your maps?
How did you make the landmass for the map. Did you use the default flatland setting or did you use a generator? If you do use MCedit, what setting do you use? Or how do you make it only spawn stone?
How long did it take you to make waking up?
How do you test it? Did you make an area then go and play through that area, or did you make the full map and then tweak from there?
Do you ever feel like giving up knowing that many people are releasing CTM maps? (Yours are the best, imo)
How do you approach the landscaping to make it look realistic?
Are there any 'deleted scenes'? E.g Made an entire stage than deleted it because you didn't like it.
Any advice for this style of map making?
What inspires you to make your maps?
And finally, what kept you motivated?
Thank you, I await your reply.
EDIT: Added some more info about the world generation question.
I'm just wondering, and if someone has already asked this, don't blame me. I'm NOT sifting through 1533 pages. Would the Smart Moving mod be considered cheating? Here's a link if you don't know it: http://www.minecraft...p-smart-moving/
My answer directly contradicts the other two people who responded to you because I am going off other posts from Vechs.
If you think it would make the map more enjoyable, then go for it. Just remember that it will not be considered legit, and the map is not balanced against other mods. Use your common sense.
In the default setting, the only maps that may be a problem would be those with lots of water (Endless Deep, Waking Up, Spellbound Caves, Legendary, etc) -- this mod can be glitchy when swimming down waterfalls.
Where's Super Hostile #12 and #13? Just wondering.
#12 will be Inferno Mines, a map similar to Legendary but with a single theme and will be a bit longer and harder. #13 is a mystery; all Vechs has said about it is "You guys are so screwed you don't even know".
Can anyone help, I have only beat sunburn Islands, and I can't seem to get a good start on any other map, every time I start a new map, I can't get started properly, I'm gonna try Infernal Sky 2, can anyone give tips on how to start?
So I tried my hand at making something like Grove of the Dark Willows or Deathshallow and... (pic)
How do you like it?
The building is ok, but how does Vechs do his castles/buildings? It seems like he's using MCEdit with his mind o_o
It actually looks quite nice.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I beat two super hostile maps, see of flame 2 and spellbound, have to finish more. Plan to do inferno mines for lulz and win when it goes out. Have fun!
Looks alright. My first map isn't great either, you learn along the way. My second one is sort of better, and the third one will be even better. Just keep practicing, I'm sure Vechs' first map wasn't great either.
His first map: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/144529-surv-ink-blot-island-giant-ocean-v03/
His first dungeons were the ones in Super Docile 1 (released just as single dungeons to conquer I believe.
His first map in this thread was, or actually were Sea of Flame, Endless Deep and Infernal Sky. They didn't have the monument in them, they were just Survival island with special themes. SoF was made to be hard, ED to give you a reason to make an underwater base, and IS to chill out in an awesome place. SoF and IS are actually still quite nice maps, but the CTM-part is (as added later) kinda broken.

Starting is different for Open Sky maps and "always dark" maps. All of the easier ones (except Spellbound, and even that in the beginning is open skied) are Open Sky:
-Have a look around. Where's wood, stone, possible dungeons, the VM?
-Look in all chests, read the signs, there might be tips.
-Get wood. Make blocks from sand/gravel if you have to.
-Get some stone tools if possible, if not stick with wood.
-Get blocks, a furnace and if somehow possible wool for a bed. (Easily possible in IS II, most of the other maps have a real dungeon for the first wool.
-Before night falls, make a shelter. Make charcoal and light up your immidiate surroundings. If you found a dungeon, you might as well explore it now, it won't be harder at night (unless open to the sky). If not, mine stone, coal, glowstone, sandstone, whatever you can, if you don't need it now, you'll need it later.
-After the first night (if you don't have a bed already) try to find some spiders. (you'll need 12 string) or start exploring. By your second night you should have a bed, or found a nice place to live in.
Hey Vechs, Any plans for a future SH map that is more in line with SoF/IS difficulty? I know you like variety in your maps and the last couple (as well as Inferno Mines) have seemed to be in the "extremely hard" range. Any chance of a c-c-c-c-combo breaker?

12 is gonna be hard
13 "You guys are so screwed, you don't even know"
14 Waking Up
15 will then probably be a easier map again, as he'll sometimes get tired of making very hard stuff.. (If it's the snow map that's missing in his collection it'll be probably trap-based rather then mobs)
hey whats the link to spellbound caves i wanna play
orly?
There is a FIRST POST (you know, that thing at the beginning of the thread), with a list of maps. you then klick on the map you want, it brings you to the part of the post the map is presented (or you scroll down) and there is a link. But for your convienience, here's one: http://tinyurl.com/SpellBoundCaves Oh wait.. that's the wrong one

Snow map fuull of traps is reminding me f all the "FUUUUUUUUUUUU" moments in Nightmare Realm's "Winter Wonderhell". Are you sure that would be classified as "Easy" (Not the respawn rating).
I thought i'd share this little moment we had today streaming Waking Up:
Cheers!
Legendary is ROMHack...

I doubt it will affect your gameplay much.

I've been away for a while.
and...
Official new order of business.
-Get Red Wool in Kaizo.
-Waking up
Can anybody just tell me how good Waking Up is?

oh, it's good. And insanely hard.
