I just recently uploaded a video on how to make a uncheatable monument design using the 1.5 redstone update mechanics. Feel free to check it out and if you enjoyed you could subscribe for some CTM's and more mapmaking tutorials .
I appreciate that you came up with this, but I just died a little on the inside knowing you posted the idea before I could. Put simply, I had been experimenting with a similar idea on and off for the last few months creating a monument that was completely tamper-proof but preserved the look and feel of Vechs' original victory monument. It kinda looks like this:
sorry, the forums is allergic to Flickr pics, here's a link:
Unfortunately, I have no irrefutable proof that I came up with these ideas back in May or April; you don't have to believe me. I am embarrassed about this situation to be quite honest, and must warn anyone who will read this to publish your ideas as soon as they are complete, or you'll wind up like me.

I think we all appreciate that people are thinking of improving the current VM, and I think it's interesting that you tried to preserve the look of the current monument, but:
1) Explain the redstone mechanics? Because if it's a hopper filter I could pick the wool up from the monument and then win. Unless you ban that. It sounds interesting though. Maybe improve it so that it functions as a reward thing as well?
2) There really isn't a need to feel embarrassed about it. How many people play Vechs' maps? How many people do CTM in general? So be glad that no one accused you of copying, and that you came clean with it. In fact, no offense, but I don't see the need for "publish your ideas as soon as possible or you'll wind up like me". I know you mean well but it comes across as kind of smarting as it indirectly implies that someone stone your idea. I know that isn't your intention, but still.
That would be nice, but alas, I haven't seen any good RFW maps post 1.5. Shame, it was always my favorite Objective Based PvP Genre.
To be honest, part of the appeal of the original RFW maps was that it was entirely new. No one knew how to play - all the LPs we saw were of people learning how to play the style of map for the first time. We watched as they learned what strategies to use, what cannons to make, et cetera.
Ever since RFW became more popular, it became like a lot of online mulitplayer games - incredibly competitive. People figured out how to play, and started learning how to run the maps real FAST. And so it became less of just a friendly get-together and more of an actual tournament, which lost some people's interest and gained others'.
That's just my take on it - it's not that the maps were bad, it's that the community became competitive.

Duly noted; I was tired, so my writing either becomes incoherent or dramatic. I won't post past 10:00 PM again. I will also get back to you on how the Redstone mechanics work and what safeguards I installed.
Ohai Kacper.
Anyway, Just took on lush ruins for the first time.. the lags... the lags... OH GOD MAKE IT STOP! WHYY VECHS WHYYYY
On a more serious note, at the fleecy box, with the 5 katrillion minecarts, I lagged so hard my minecraft ran out of memory and I had to reboot it... three times... now I understand why people hate that area ;3
It is probably the vines plus all the spawners and maybe the leafs if you are no fancy graphics. And vechs did not really make that area minecart tracks just popped up on his world and he changed them into stone bricks and mine cart rails into spawners.
Hey i just wanted to say that Vechs is easily the best map maker EVAR, and he is making a mod for minecraft that based off of Mount and Blade: Warband witch is one of my favorite games EVAR! So yeah thanks man for making all of this awesomeness, keep it up
Vechs is good but he is still improving even today and I don't know maybe he is the best CTM map I have not played that many other map series in the CTM genre but I doubt it and I would never make such a rash call with this little info on who I am saying is not as good as him.
Hey vechs, would you make another race for wool map? With command blocks, scoreboard, villager trades...
Race for wool maps are pretty easy to make anyone who can place blocks and is not incompetent should be able to make an alright one. There is no reason for vechs to make something like that also a lot of other good map makers make tons of them just google it.

Exactly what I was thinking maybe I always hated that at the end of every CTM map the placing of the block on the monument and then being done seems kinda anticlimactic going off of this I would just go and make maps but not only do I lack the ability to build anything I also am to lazy for that.
i am looking for a partner for inferno mines. i have completed everything up to intersection one and have full sortied chests. i can host the server. my only requests are a good mic and be around 16 and mature and dont do stupid stuff. for more info private message me and ill get back to you.
I would bet 10% of the actually people that LP CTM maps do it at a normal pace.
I rarely finish CTM maps unless I have some massive incentive. Typically I don't have the patience for a full CTM map, but if it's supposed to be really challenging or is really fun then I'll finish it.
This is the reason why I have yet to beat Pantheon, because it's way too long. Maybe someday, but definitely not now.
I CANT FINISH THEM BECAUSE CREEPERS ARE BLOWING ME UP LEFT AND RIGHT
Pro Tip: Look around. Creepers can't kill you if you kill them first. And besides, why are you having issues with the easiest enemies in the game? I'd understand if it were Skeletons or something, but Creepahs? Meh.
Anyone can defeat Pantheon. Just takes a bit/normal amount of skill and patience. And maybe a decent computer.
Not a pro tip. It's just saying kill them before they explode. And I'm pretty sure after 1.3, getting you down to half a heart/ one fourth of your health is pretty problematic. And after 1.6 hunger system? Hah.
But, I guess that's your opinion and I have mine.
Oh of course. I'd love to take the time and play it but with my current schedule I'd be playing it for a year. I'm drawn to shorter maps, but I'll play a long one if I have time.
Well, Creepers ARE easy if you know how to deal with them. If you don't have a knockback weapon, you can hit them while sprinting for added knockback, and you can use one creeper to take out a whole swarm. Even Supercharged Creepers are pretty simple if you approach them right. I mean, I'm not saying I haven't had one sneak up on me and blast me into lava, but that's mostly an awareness thing.
Also, I hate people who say the 1.6 hunger system is unfair. Sure, it's harder, but it's easy enough to get high saturation food and last for a while. It's all a matter of having a plan to escape if you find yourself in a pinch. Enderpearls and Speed Potions work well.

I also have a prototype that includes a retracting 'curtain'

That was truly astounding. Even knowing every trap and tactic, I expected multiple deaths in the hellhole that was Eternal Battle.

He kinda used invisibility potions I doubt most people did that, they are kinda cheap.
Actually, they're still on Vechs' Fileswap. Just go through the download link for the Endless Deep.
How bad a player can be if getting into third area of Intersection 1 took you 20 episodes?
Theres two types of CTM LPers, those who do the map at a normal pace, and those who take five years to complete the map.
