I'm working on a new map, and I promise it will have a lot more 'depth' to it.
I may come back to this one at some point, but it may be a while. I would definitely add more 'content' in the city itself. I certainly don't mind if someone takes this one to the next level in the mean time.
As for the Yogscast. I was greatly honored. It was awesome watching them notice/question some of the things I intentionally put in. I thought the best part(s) where when they built a temporary shelter about 20 blocks away from a wooden cottage, and of course, Honeydew's leather easy-access pants.

Yes... the first dispenser is empty. I should have highlighted it a little more in the story. You are trapped outside without starting gear. And then the sign up by the 'air lock' says to put your gear on. RPers would be cautious at that point. And the lack of light is intentional... it's a dead planet.
I really give applause to the people who played the story, but then came back and use this map as a baseline for their own adventure.
I just came across this because the Yogscast re-uploaded it. And it is awesome, I'll just use the Last Days texture pack, I think that is the best one if you wanna do proper post-apocalyptic stuff.
i was in he (awesome) city then i found the peace signs. i dug down... and down... and down... and down... and then i hit......... VOID so i quit but i liked it. i'll play it again tomarrow

I think I know how to improve this map, but it would require quite some work. Maybe get some fans to help you out with it. Empire city: improve it very simply. Where it suddenly ends to a big ol lake, make a sort of abandoned pier with semi sunken boats. And where It suddenly ends to reveal untouched world, maybe build into the hills, sort of like nature has begun too retake over the city. Then you can just leave the rest as nature after a while. Obviously, add some more reasons to explore the city, like hidden Items and more notes, maybe some journal entries as to how the world ended, and what happened to Capital city. And add some branching paths with more items/story/risks, or the easier/less items/story. :tongue.gif: I can help, but we should probably use MC edit, and we would need a server to do it on.
This is extremely good but, You should add more things to do in it other than running to that city and then back again. You should also make the inside of the vault you start in instead of just an empty hallway, in my opinion that would be an extremely good way to bring it to its full potential.
A group of mappers are interested in incorporating portions of this map into their larger world. I will gladly include a link to that effort once they are ready.
I've nearly completed my next map, WoNdErLaNd (eta for version 1.0 is 4/8 or sooner). Follow the link in my signature for details on release!
Damn, I have no clue where the notes are.. I saw them.. And the top line said "Some of these may be fake to prevent reading on" but idk where the hell these are now -.-
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No." They had a choice, all of them. They could have followed in the footsteps of good men like my father or President Truman. Decent men who believed in a day's work for a day's pay. Instead they followed the droppings of lechers and communists and didn't realize that the trail led over a precipice until it was too late. Don't tell me they didn't have a choice. Now the whole world stands on the brink, staring down into bloody Hell, all those liberals and intellectuals and smooth-talkers... and all of a sudden nobody can think of anything to say.

I don't understand your statement.
The notes are a .txt file within the .zip archive.
As you come across signposts in the game it says "Note xx", where xx is the note number to read.
No items were put in the first dispenser. It was a bad joke I guess. I was trying to build a bit of tension... the need for an environmental suit is mentioned 2-3 times, but there is none to be had.
I did a let's play of this map.
Please check it out.
Great job on the map by the way.
I love the authenticity of Empire City, although one suggestion I can give is to add more secret loots, especially on the buildings and etc.

Thank you! And I agree with your suggestion (i should add more interesting things in the city/final vault)... but it will be a while before I have time to update this map.
For the storyline sake, you can assume there is no loot because scavengers have picked the ruins clean over the decades. The buildings themselves are 'loot' that can be broken down and crafted into whatever you need. I did want to create an end-zone that was huge and desolate.
I absolutely adore this map. I spent a whole day playing on it, it's that awesome. And when I finished the map, I ended up living in one of the cities and using it as my normal world.
Awesome work, i'd give you a cookie but I eated it.
You can get moar cookiez in my other maps (follow my .sig) :wink.gif:
I used MCEdit to copy a portion of the city from this map, then paste it into my map (poorly).
But right after I did my first test, notch patched the game and I couldn't get MCEdit to work again so I was pretty much stuck with the version you see now.

Yep, then break thru the vault door.
