Hey look buddy, I'm a builder. That means I build custom maps. Not maps like "Escapecraft 3", because that would fall within the purview of your idea of most puzzle maps. I build adventure maps. For instance, how am I going to allow some big old forum user to enjoy adventure to the fullest? The answer? Use a pyramid. And if that don't work, use more pyramid. Like this big, old, dusty pyramid designed by me. Built by me. And you'd best hope... being played by you.
I got a single piece of paper, is there something special about this?
Nah, just seems like something I should do as like a cloth or papyrus for an ancient pyramid kind of feeling.

Apparently it didn't get removed, but it would have been almost impossible to find from the outside.
Doesn't lead anywhere

Perhaps I should have started this last night, but I focused more on my immediate survival. That, I part of me fears this is a sick and twisted game. I found two pages of another journal before me, speaking of someone so desperate, they went into the pyramid in the distance. I, so far, have decided not to repeat their actions. It seems like it might be better to wait and see what comes out. Besides, there is enough horror abound without searching for it.
It’s hard to believe that… No, perhaps I should start at the beginning.
Yesterday, I found myself in the middle of the desert, no evidence of how I got there or who brought me here. Next to me, there was a rather rudimentary chest and inside, in addition to this accursed journal, there were supplies. I shall list them here:
1 Stone Sword
1 Bow
10 Arrows
1 Wooden Shovel, Hoe, Pick, and Axe (each)
1 Stone Shovel
10 Torches
1 rough Leather Shirt
1 rough pair of Leather Pants
3 slabs of Sand Stone
10 slabs of Cobblestone
3 pieces of Pork
1 Tree Sapling
1 package of Seed (holding approximately 5 seeds)
1 bucket of Water (how it did not evaporate, I shall never know)
1 Plank
6 pieces of Coal
After reading the journal, I knew two things; One, that the pyramid was dangerous, and two, that I should expect hostile visitors by evening.
There was also some grass next to me, and any soil that can grow grass can grow crops. I quickly began setting up a wall around the soil, as well as building a small hut to call home. The walls are made of sand, and quite weak, but it is all I have to work with. Progress slowed when the wooden shovel broke, but I fear of using the stone one.
I have also discovered that the sand around here, when properly compressed, actually becomes sand stone. It is still brittle, but strong enough to support itself, giving me a roof. And not a moment too soon, because as night fell…
The stories are true. I’ve seen them all. A spider attempted to get through the holes in my incomplete roof, but it was too large. I managed to slay it with a sword, but it was not alone. I remember the legends of the creepers, evil creatures that existed only to destroy. I killed my first one this morning, in a myriad of running and swinging of my dull blade. And though I did not fight any, I saw the unholy undead walking at the distance. I believe two zombies fell into my moat (I did, after all, need to get the sand from somewhere) and died in the sunlight, but I personally did not raise my hand.
I wiled away the night by starting a farm. Nothing yet, but I had not expected it to grow very fast.
I spent all of today clearing out more sand stone, widening my moat. I’ve found rock below, but it looks far too sturdy for my simple pick, so I’ve ignored it. The moat is now four meters across, providing plenty of room between my still weak walls and the dangers of the outside. I’ve been focusing on making sand stone, for though it is brittle, it is still better than just sand.
I made the mistake of trying to replace the walls as it turned to night. A creeper is waiting for me outside now. I think I shall have to lure it away in the morning.
I did spend a little time redistributing the dirt that I had, outside of my walls. I hope the grass their might attract some animals. The jerky I have is old and dry. Fresh meat would be appreciated.
I wish I had a bed. These nights are long and uncomfortable.
Day 3-
I couldn’t find the creeper this morning. Though my moat is wider than it is deep, it is not so shallow as to allow something to just jump out. I made the mistake of dropping into the moat in an attempt to find it. It charged me from around the corner and blew up before I could kill. Fortunately, I got far enough away to avoid any injury worse than a few scratches and a burn to my shirt. My wall, unfortunately, were not as lucky.
However, I am proud of them. While I did lose a corner, they served their purpose. Both my house and farm are unharmed, and were no mean feat to replace.
The farm is another worry. It has yet to bear fruit. I am no farmer, but if it doesn’t provide a crop soon, I shudder at the consequences.
The sapling is another problem. It hasn’t grown and wood is scarce. I don’t even have enough for a table, let alone something like I door. I’ve resorted to blocking up my entrance with sand and praying nothing tries to come through.
I think I understand why the person before headed to the pyramid. I think I shall scout it tentatively tomorrow.
Day 4-
When I checked this horizon this morning, nothing was there. No monsters. Part of me hopes, but the other part fears it is just them regrouping.
I entered the pyramid today. Not too far in, but deep enough to be ambushed by a skeleton. How it can move, let alone use a bow, without any muscles, I don’t know. I blocked off several passages to try and prevent more ambushes.
I quickly ran out of torches. It looks as if I will have to wait till I get more to explore deeper. I’ve moved the sapling to the top of the hut, hoping there it will find enough room and light to grow.
I’ve also started working on the walls again. The top is all sand stone now, so I am focusing on the lower parts. I’ve begun digging out more of the trench, where I can. Over half of it seems to be stuck at the tough rock from before. It’s leaving it looking a bit… lopsided. I may have to go elsewhere for sand.
More interestingly, the pyramid seems to be built out of this strange rock. I even dug into the side and found that underneath the sand, it was the same. Speaking of the pyramid, I climbed to the top and looked around. Sand for as far as I could see.
This may make rescue difficult…
There is a zombie outside. It’s groaning is quite a distraction…
Day 5-
It appears my fears were quite founded. I looked out at sunrise, only to be attacked by another blasted spider. It trampled my crops in the process, causing me to lose one of the precious plants. I managed to kill it, and when I looked over my walls, I was greeted with the site of dozens of hostiles, of all kinds. Most died in the sunlight, but my sword got another workout that morning.
I decided to start looking for a good place to get sand. Silly, I now, being in a desert, but for some reason, having my moat being uneven doesn’t sit well with me. I went a little ways away from my hut and began to dig in a cone shaped manor (I, after all, want to make sure I have an easy way out). It gained me enough sand to finish upgrading my walls, but not till the morning, since sunset caught me.
I did finally get my first harvest, however. There isn’t even enough wheat for a loaf of bread, but it’s a start.
The blasted tree still hasn’t grown any.
There’s another spider on my roof. Perhaps I should look into put a lip around my walls to prevent this…
Day 6-
BLASTED SPIDERS!
They have proven to be the biggest threat. I have noticed, just before sunrise, that the sound of hissing and footsteps above me were too great to be a single spider. I peeked out, and well, to cut a long story short, I was attacked by no less than six of them.
I found myself in my own moat, fending them off, while a burning skeleton took pot shots at me, in a constant fear that a creeper would drop down next to me. However, I proved to be lucky. Not only did I kill the blasted arachnids, no other enemies managed to get the drop on me. By that point, the sun was up, and I was safe. I quickly used the sand stone I had made the night before to not only put a lip around my walls to keep those spiders out, but finish upgrading them.
I did lose some of my harvest, yet again, but still managed to get some more wheat. I find myself with enough for a loaf of bread, but no way to prepare it. It is as if someone is mocking me.
The tree still hasn’t grown…
Day 7-
Today started out so promising. It did not end as such.
Firstly, the lip works. Another six spiders were waiting for me this morning, but they were all trapped in the moat where they were supposed to be. Two of them were foolish to chase me when I left, but I made them pay dearly. For some reasons, once it was daylight, the others suddenly stopped caring. Most interesting.
And then, finally, the tree showed growth. More than enough to provide me plenty of wood.
Also, I happened across some skeleton bones. It seems whatever magic causes them to move and burn in the daylight, also burns the bones. But a couple survived. I remember the old wives tale about bone meal, and used it on my crops. It was magnificent.
Not even mid-morning, but I had bread and torches. I decided to brave the pyramid.
That was a mistake.
My first hint should have been the zombie that was on the wrong side of the barricades I had set up. They were made of sand, so I suppose it is possible that he simply pushed through, however…
As I was removing the first barricade, a creeper ambushed me. I managed to survive, only to be attacked by another zombie. Shortly thereafter, I found myself battling spiders in a room when another two creepers charged. I managed to kill one, but the other…
I shall not lie, after it exploded, I dropped everything I had and ran all the way back to my base. Once I had recovered my composer, I headed back, collecting everything I dropped, and tried to continue forward. I found a hidden chest that gave me a golden bar, even a crown. The next room was a trap. No sooner than I had placed a torch, the floor fell from beneath me. I found myself hurt and surrounded by spiders.
I ran again, dropping everything I had. Again, I returned to my base to regain my composer. However, by then, it was night, and too dangerous to trek back to the pyramid, especially without a weapon. I shall see what I can do in the morning, but I fear what I dropped shall no longer be there by then. Hopefully, I can recover, but part of me fears I shall not.
If only there was some other sort of salvation, but I fear this pyramid is all I have been handed.

Well i died in there so i charged in there in hope to get my stuff and i found this room that had a gold block and a skeleton. i tried to lure the skeleton out into the sunlight but he wouldnt follow so i charged at him and cornered him and i killed him with my fists. AND I SAW RIGHT THROUGH YOUR TRAP HAHA.
Congratulations! But you should be trying to brag to me about it, I killed you on the last trap! :biggrin.gif:

I really wish some would spawn on the grass so i can make a bed to sleep away the long nights
Wait till night then put torches around the grass, they might spawn!

Should I add sand dunes to give more of a "deserty" feel to it? Or should I just leave it flat and nothing but flatness for miles?

Meh. I decided not to add dunes, way too hard to make them look good when you can only work with blocks. But I did decide to update it in some way. New "secret" room with some good treasure on the 3rd floor! But can you find it?
