What operating system do you have? I know the most recent versions of Windows (Vista and later) have .zip extraction built-in. 7-Zip is a great free utility if you don't like WinRar and your version of Windows doesn't come with the capability.
I'll admit that I am the biggest noob on the Minecraft Forums. I have yet another, hopefully my last, question. I'm trying 7zip right now. But how am I supposed to use it? If I go to my downloads, to the EscapeCraft folder, and right click it, the 7zip options are "Extract" "Open arcive" "Extract to..." and a couple others. Which should I chose, and what should I do next?
No worries. You will want to "Extract to" your desktop. You will then have 2 new .zip files - the texture pack and the map. Open minecraft. Click "Mods and Textures." Click "Open the Texture Pack Folder." Drop the texture pack .zip file into the Texture pack folder and DO NOT UNZIP IT.
Now, you need to go "up" a folder (not sure how you are navigating files, so I'm not sure how to tell you to do this) to the .minecraft folder. Then open the "saves" folder. Unzip the map .zip and put the contents in there (Note: check the map when you unzip it - sometimes unzipping puts another folder around the whole thing. Open the resulting folder, and look to see what inside. If it is just one other folder, drag and drop THAT folder into saves. Otherwise you should see a BUNCH of other folders, in which case just drop the original folder in).
Hope that doesn't confuse things too much. Good luck!
Man, this was one of the best things I've ever experienced in Minecraft. I get this same feeling when I go through something as creative as this, Portal or other epic adventuring/puzzle solving titles... Luckily I didn't kill 1089, at first I thought the nether was not part of the challenge, but luckily I found the secret enging. Just when I read the signs, my MC crashed... now that's creepy. I think I kinda cheated in some parts, like the flooded elevator and the redstones by placing the toches or dust next to the doors ;D
