Well yeah, but that's cheating. See rule 1. All the challenges are pretty trivial once you start smashing things (although, without a pickax it'll take you a while. Note to self - use more obsidian next time).
I'm really looking forward to Notch coming out with some kind of "Adventure Mode" that will let me hard-code in various permissions (like no breaking blocks) and implement a "save and reload" feature. That would make this feel much more polished and much less irritating to play.
I still can't figure out the second test and I got past everything else, wtf!
Use the coal to make the 2 cobblestone into rock via the furnace. Then in ur inventory make a button. place the button either side of the door and click it.
I cant get past the room with all the pressure plates and Tnt =(
The tnt-room: You placed everything correctly, and I hit the correct tnt. The way things were set up, it should've hit the water but missed by just a tiny tiny itsy bitsy bit. I managed to jump down into the (now) coloumn of water and caught a cobblestone from the debris which I proceeded to build a platform with for an easy escape. Sadly I died when I noticed the chest, and tried to reach it past the hole in the ground everything.

Ah, yeah, my bad lol. I was focusing on the fact that you could destroy the TNT that I forgot you weren't allowed to destroy the glass.
It'd be awesome if you could craft tempered glass with the lava or something. Or even so that if they tried to break the glass it'd explode due to high pressures and kill them :smile.gif:
the room with the tnt on the roof, i dont get the "clue" i walked in a backwards c and got blowed up
whats going on? ive tryied about 12 times i dont get it
This is one of the most fun things ive done in MC. Still havent beaten it yet because ive only put in one attempt and ended up blowing myself to bits, but this is fantastic work and i would love to see a sequel.

There was a man who feared not the reaper
He dug in the earth ever deeper
Diamonds of his
Were lost, with a hiss
There is a man who now fears the creeper
The elevator room.... I don't get what I was supposed to do. I'm just guessing that whatever it was, I didn't do it....
I just built a pick axe then, paying close attention to the "only destroy what you put down" rule, made some cobble and used that to get up.....
Create an endless supply of water, fill your bucket(s). Drop water on the wall above you, swim up the water, drop another, higher spring of water, swim up that rinse and repeat.
Sounds like the difficulty was about right. Some found it hard, others found it easy. And pretty much everyone seems like they enjoyed it =)
I started work on the next installment today. I'm planning on 20-30 rooms. The difficulty will almost certainly increase, but finding the right answer will depend a little less on the player knowing little minecraft engine quirks and more on using logic to deduce the proper course of action.
I'm probably going to hold off on any long forays into the Netherworld until I know more about it - probably episode 3. But provided MCEdit and Invedit support the new blocks, I'll incorporate them into the episode 2. After all, more toys means more puzzle possibilities
Ok, so, after many, many, many save deletes and "re" downloads (lol), i got to the very end where you dig straight down, I'm thinking: Great I'm done and beat this (very frustrutaing, but fun) game... So i just dug with the diamond shovel, as fast as i could..........And guess what i found..........Yes you guessed it.....LAVA!
Seriously though, you did a great job with this... I wouldn't be disapointed if you did another one, really fun!
This was awesome. I'm doing a labyrinth and you gave me many ideas...
Specially room 7, I'm going to look at the redstone mechanics for that =P
Room 7 is surprisingly simple. Basically you have 3 circuits - one for each of the correct answers and then one big one for all the others (lets call them A, B and X). All you need is an "AND" gate for A+B (to make sure both correct options are selected), an inverter on the X circuit, and one final "AND" gate which confirms that the A+B line is active and the Not-X (inverted X line) is active.
More simply, you need 1 AND gate to check that both correct answers are chosen, and another to check that the correct-answer-line is good and the incorrect-answer-line is not.
Once you realize that you don't need to keep track of each of the incorrect answers separately, but can just link them all in a big serial circuit, life gets much easier.
