Can anyone please teach me or show me how to do that combination lock that was in this map? thanks
There is a hint on top of the entrance to the room, which says: "Two numbers sum to 10, half the sum of the squares of the two numbers is 29"
Boring Math Lesson Where You Fall To Sleep:
Call the numbers X for the first number and Y for the second number, so X + Y = 10 and X^2 + Y^2 = 29x2 (I doubled the whole thing to get rid of the half), make X the equation so X = 10 - Y and substitute it into the other equation, so (10-Y)^2 + Y^2 = 58, expand that to get 100+Y^2-20Y +Y^2 = 58 OR 2Y^2 - 20Y + 100 = 58, take 58 away:
2Y&2 - 20Y + 42 = 0 solve that where 2Y^2 - 6Y - 14Y + 42 = 0 and simplify, to get 2Y(Y-3)-14(Y-3), and further for (2Y-14)(Y-3) so Y = 7 or 3 and X = 10 - Y which is 3 or 7, so your answers are 3 and 7
That aside this is a great map man, it wasn't very hard, but I especially liked Room 10, you should try and hide the spots for the resources of the final room better and make them more difficult to get though.
Otherwise really fun going to try 2 now.
This was quite a fun game. It offered a challenge in all areas of Minecraft, so if you didn't know somethings or were completely incompetent in a certain area of Minecraft, this probably wasn't the game for you. One unfortunate thing though was the change of the texture for the tops of furnaces, if I recall, they used to be the same as stone, so, you would have a hard time finding them, which I believe was your original intent. To solve the problem with not spawning back at the beginning of the map upon death, I did spawn in a bed, as well as spawning in a bucket of water after I accidentally threw mine off an edge, but deleted it as soon as I recovered my other one, but that's ALL the spawning I did, lol.
I decided to look at your spoilers, and well, now I realize why it didn't work, oop, my bad XD.Now, I had a slight problem with the redstone puzzle. From what I could tell you had everything set up correctly, but, for some reason some redstone torches wouldn't go on and off due to redstone flows. I 'edited' it in a way that would simulate as if the redstone flows actually affected the redstone torches as they were intended to, and managed to get through. (No, I didn't just break the torch next to the redstone flow that led to the door, I started from the iron block closest to the right of the entrance of the room, then made modifications from then on. If that wasn't the correct path, then I don't know what I did wrong lol.)
Now, the rest went as intended, but, I ran into a strange, well, occurrence you might call it. When I got the diamond in the chest that is next to the dirt you have to dig at the end, I placed it in my stack of diamond that I had previously collected (I can't remember how much, it was like, 22-25 or something, idk lol). Anyways, when I placed it in, I found myself with a total of one diamond. I was shocked by this, and went to look at my INVedit screen (Unfortunately, due to the fact that my computer isn't very good, I have to use the Inbrowser version of Minecraft [I won't bore you with the details as to why] and cannot use mods due to some error that I don't know how to determine or fix), to check and see if it was just an in game error. When I saw my diamonds, the count number was labeled at 245. As you can tell this was quite a shock. I am not sure if this was all because of that one diamond, perhaps being an infinitely stacked diamond, an in game issue, or some sort of occurrence due to the fact that I had INVedit open (Like I said, I only used it for the bed, getting a bucket of water, and checking on my diamonds XD), but, I'm sure it was one of the later two.
Anyways, I'm sure that was quite a long read, possibly boring, and maybe even perplexing XD. Nonetheless, I'd like to say that I truly did enjoy this game, and will be playing the 2nd and 3rd maps soon, already have them downloaded :biggrin.gif:
I now just noticed that there is an updated version, and if this is the case, I will probably go and play that.
It also appears that I am not the only one that had the problem with the diamond, so it must have been an in game issue, one that I am not sure if you changed in the update lol, either way, still really enjoyed the game :smile.gif:
And the solution to the combo lock would be 4 and 6 according to the signs, not 3 and 7
The items in the spoilers are the comparisons of the two sets of numbers you have mentioned, and I have placed them into the two known equations, which are shown above each spoiler.
Is there a texture pack?cuz "For those who prefer a HD texture pack for the EscapeCraft experience, one of our fans graciously put one together. Links and instructions may be found here, and video of the pack may be found here. (Note: this texture pack is not supported by the EC3 staff)." one of the link just redirects me back here and the other goes to a video.

You are thinking of EscapeCraft 3. This is EscapeCraft 1.

You can get the updated version here. Be sure to click on "Download Original" to get the whole archive and not just individual files.
Look two posts up.

Z+Y=10
3+7=10 10=10 (True)
((ZxZ)+(Y+Y))/2=29
((3x3)+(7x7))/2=29 (9+49)/2=29 58/2=29 29=29 (True)
Don't believe it? Get a good calculator and check my math, you'll see.
If you mean the room where you have to knock the tnt into the water, it still works in a way, it just doesn't work the way it is supposed to.
Get the updated version a few posts up.
i win
the tnt was UBER easy (thnx 1.7)
Now you can skip Adfly. Yay :biggrin.gif:
