Couldn't I just move the ship so that it is completely above the cloud layer, instead of finding a texture pack that doesn't have clouds? I'd like to be able to look out the windows of the ship and see the clouds between me and the ground. I think that would help give the sensation that you're in orbit above the planet, as opposed to floating in the atmosphere.
You could run with graphics set to Fast in the options instead of fancy, which changes the altitude of the clouds. (the reason was I was running with that when I placed the ship to performance and when I went back to fancy the 3D clouds were right on deck 2)
Also, you said in the OP that if you adjust the altitude of the ship, all the paintings will disappear. Is there any way to avoid that? Or, is there a way to put them back after you've moved the ship? Oh, and do you happen to have the dimensions of the ship? Like, length x width x height?
The paintings aren't included in the .schematic file as it is a limitation of MCedit, which doesn't handle paintings in the version I was working with. Maybe that has been fixed As for dimensions, I used a grid layout in photoshop to do the design but I don't have the exact dimensions on hand at the moment.
PS if anyone has built anything interesting with the ship I'd love to see it. Here in Canada we just had thanksgiving, while recovering from Turkey overload monday I got started on this.
This one I will admit to using hacks, as I plan to mirror it and I'm using a flying hack to get around. After doing the original ship with only inventory smoothstone and doublestep hacked blocks, no +Shift for fall to death button, and having to align everything by eye; I think I've proven my spergieness. I get to cheat on this one.
I fixed the problem with paintings in Alpha 59 or so. Here's an updated save and schematic with all the art in the right places, and the ship a bit closer to sea level. You'll need alpha 59 or later to use the schematic. You might as well get the latest version and try out the auto-updater, too.
I didn't check every corner of the ship looking for dropped paintings, but everything I saw from the bridge to the cargo bay seemed to be in order, chest contents included.
(I turned on the iTunes radio before getting started on this, and out of pure coincidence it was playing a remix of some music from Star Trek IV.)
I fixed the problem with paintings in Alpha 59 or so.
Sweet! I'll try it out. Thanks.

Do you happen to know if the whole ship will fit above the clouds? Although, now that I think about it, with the new MCEdit Alpha, I guess I'll find out in a bit. So, yeah. Thanks a lot for making this available to the public. And, I can't wait for that Miranda Class vessel. (That means I don't have to do it, myself.) Now I can just focus on a Klingon Bird-of-Prey or maybe a Battle Cruiser to go with them.
As per requested, I've updated the skinpack to work with the new texture pack system, it's still mostly default textures. If you want to modify it and release it I have no problem, most of the textures were grabbed from duke nukem 3D or just thrown together out of the default ones.
