I remember playing this with a friend of mine - then again, then one more time.
Then playing it by myself was fantastic. One of the only maps I could play over and over again. The style and atmosphere of it is beyond fantastic, absolutely phenomenal. In fact, I'm about to play it again.
All of these look awesome, though I can't find the the first one, I had clicked on a thread saying it was for the first one but it took me here! please! I want to play it!
The Labyrinth by Fireb0rn This was one of the first maps for Minecraft, if not the first. Ever. As such, this rating will not describe how revolutionary it was at the time of release. I will review it like I do a normal map with some slight exceptions as I cannot figure how to give this map justice. So, if you disagree with my rating... Well, it doesn't matter, it is freaking amazing anyway. I am only reviewing this map because many people asked me to. You got my note? Great. Let's get started. Creativity: 2. The majority of the map is basically mob-fighting, though there are many other challenges: little parkour, mazes, minecart challenges, ice bowling and.. more mazes. These were very unique at the time but now are easy to produce in the latest version. Of course, besides the towers, I would like to see more than just hallways for extra creativity. Difficulty: 2. I played this map with Minecraft Beta 1.3, as this map is very old. As such, hunger has not been introduced, making this map more of a challenge. I felt the first part before the towers was a very exhilarating experience; I advise you play on Expert if you can take the challenge, as it gave me a total adrenaline rush. As soon as I got to the towers, the map started to get a little easier as I was given diamond armor, and iron armor when the armor runs out. I felt the only part that had resemblance to the first part was the creeper explosion part. Detail: 2. I'm not sure how to rate this part either. I feel like the hallways were plain and boring compared to the tower part. The towers were revolutionary in 1.3, and many people wondered how to build them. Thus, I will give it a 2. Gameplay and Experience: 2.5. Look, this made me feel nostalgic. Very nostalgic. Just that fact increased the score. But the heart-pumping gameplay while playing the map on Expert, great detail in the towers, and challenging difficulty really made me like this map.
+ Nostalgic, made me go back to the old days
+ At times heart-pounding and adrenaline building
- Detail is bleh during the hallways
- Could be a bit more challenging in the towers. Overall Score™": 2 + 2 + 2 + 2.5 = 8.5/12. Above Average, Masterpiece when you are talking about a long time ago. If you are still on Fireb0rn, you are spectacular. Just saying. Diamonds to you.
I agree with you completely. I absolutely love this map. It was the only map in 2010. Now people don't like it, but I do. I played this in 1.1, about 3 years ago and It was too hard for me - couldn't even finish the lava parkour thingy. I played this in Alpha 1.1.2_01 just a few months ago and finished it in Begginer items and Normal difficulty. I died few times. There is so many new maps now. This needed a LOT of work back then (I'm pretty sure. I tried making a map about 2 years ago with MCEdit. It was so hard. Back then it was even harder!!) but now you have commands like ./fill and stuff. I hate 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9. This map is still harder than most of the new maps. It's probably easier in 1.8 though
Also try to get used to not being able to sprint. I play a ton of beta and alpha recently so I'm used to it.
P.S. English is my secondary language - it took me forever to type this - so if I made any errors and/or typos, tell me.

Hence the screenshots,this map is ment for Minecraft Alpha. If you did not know,the way worlds were created worked differently in Alpha.
So basically,you have to downgrade to Minecraft Alpha to play it.
I could have sworn I saw a playthrough in Beta 1.4 once though.
For anyone wondering how to play this in modern versions of Minecraft, here, let me tell you.
Minecraft has had three different save formats over Infdev to now:
1. Alpha Save Format - Infdev 20100327 to Beta 1.2
2. McRegion - Beta 1.3 to release 1.1
3. Anvil - release 1.2 to current release version
This map was made for Alpha versions of Minecraft (so in Alpha Save Format), so follow below.
What you want to do, is get the map, then load it up in any version with McRegion save format.
Then you can load it up in 1.12 or 1.16 or whatever.
(However, corruption can occur between versions, especially in Anvil, so what I recommend is to upgrade every two or three versions (e.g release 1.2 to release 1.4 or 1.5), and check to make sure nothing is broken horribly that you can't play.)

I played this map (Over 11 years later that's crazy!)
