Hello there! In this tutorial I will show you how to build an semi-Early Game Mob Grinder. I don't know if anyone else has made and posted this exact design but this is just something I built that I feel works pretty well. It follows basic grinder physics with water pushing the mobs through a hole to a platform below with wooden spikes at the bottom. The spikes will bring the mobs down to 1 heart so you can finish them off with just your fists (or sword if you like). Also this is my first post so sorry if it isn't that good. Anyway here's the tutorial!!
1.) Start with a 2x2 platform.
2.) Add your four wooden spikes on top of the platform.
3.) Make a 4x4 square 1 block above the spike platform. Do not put the square directly on top of the spikes and make sure there is a 2x2 opening in the center.
4.) Put Slabs directly under the 4x4 square.
5.) Build up 9 blocks on each of the 4 corners.
6.) Fill in the gaps.
7.) Build out 8 blocks on each side. Each strip should be 2 blocks wide.
8.) Raise sides up so you have 2 block high walls. The strips should be 8 blocks long since you extended them 8 plus the one near the center. The last block near the back should be part of the wall.
9.) Fill the outer gaps between the strips.
10.) Raise the outer sides by 2 blocks.
11) Put two water source blocks at the back of each strip so the mobs will be pushed towards the center. ( No picture sorry(*Sweats Nervously*)
12.) Make the roof out of half-slabs so no mobs spawn on top.
This works pretty well as an entry level mob grinder, and can be easily upgraded. For example, when you get cursed earth, you can replace the wood with it in order to drastically improve spawn rates. And by the point where you have cursed earth, you probably have enough gold for gold spikes, which iirc auto-kill mobs and also drops experience. Add in a vacuum hopper for the items and experience, and you will never need for mob drops or levels again.
For this height to work you've got to be pretty far away horizontally to get the 24 blocks away needed for mob spawning, which isn't ideal for skyblock maps. I usually build 18 blocks up and make a few layers.
I just started skyfactory 2 and my mob spawner is just like yours and I'm in the right biome and I made sure there wasn't any other unlit places in a 150 block radius but is there anything else that might fix it
About 3/4 the item drops are staying above the wooden spikes and despite going all around them they don't come to me even with magnet mode in skyfactory 3 on.

in order to get exp i do need to hit them myself of course, but because they don't die until i hit them..... it gets filled up pretty quick. so congratulations this farm you showed to me and other people is TOO efficient. GREAT farm THNX
I followed this construction exactly, but I substituted cobblestone for the wood, and I can't see it working. The mobs just cause a traffic jam in the center of the build. Please advise.

And Voila! you have a mob+XP grinder!!!
I hope this helped ^.^!!
thx

I have a question: on step 5, 9 blocks counting the initial one or not?
thx
it worked well
I must be doing something wrong? the mobs just stand on the big platforms and dont drop down
Did you place the water?
Ender men take damage to water, so the AI shouldn't let them walk into water so they most likely cannot be farrmed
Works in Sky Factory 3 as well, make sure to put that in the title

How do I get all the drops????
thank you very much in advance
