/tellraw:
This is a command that is a lot like /say, but the @ symbol will not appear on the message, and you can change the color of your text in multiple pieces. However, there is a bit of json coding involved, so you will need to pay a bit of attention.
An example of a basic tellraw command is something that is simply to @a, @r, @p, or @e (no radius included yet), and then you type a message and choose what color you want it to be. So, if I wanted to put this information into a command block, I would do /give Minecraftism command_block, and then inside the command block, I would put the following: (the slash is not required in a command block) /tellraw @a {"text":"Do you want an apple?","color":"red"} Be sure to be careful with the curly brackets, commas, colons, etc., and try getting in your mc world and copy pasting this command. It should appear in red text in the chat bar.
Do you want an apple?
If you would like to go further with /tellraw by having different parts of the text in different colors, then you can do something like this: /tellraw @a {"text":"Do you want an apple? ","color":"red","extra": [{"text":"Or do you want a green apple?","color":"green"}]}
Now, the reason I have a space after Do you want an apple? is because otherwise the words will be right next to each other. And that would be quite annoying. So, the text on your screen should look something like this:
Do you want an apple? Or do you want a green apple?
And now you may be wondering about what all the different colors are. I will include a full list of available colors for these commands at the end of the tutorial.
/tellraw does go more in depth, but I wanted to start you out with this tutorial... if you would like to get more complicated, then watch Sethbling explain it, because I get confused once we get into the area of clicking things with displayed text on them making different commands happen... it's confusing... ikr?
To track players within a certain radius of the command block with /tellraw, do something like this: /tellraw @a[r=5] and the 5 is how far you can be from the command block to see the message.
/title:
There is four types of this. I will have four parts explaining each one.
Title: This is the big text that appears across the screen. Be careful, though, because if you put too much text here, then it'll fill up the screen with only part of what you want it to say. If you have a bit more to say, then you can extend the information into /subtitle.
Usage: /title @a title {"text":"Whatever you want to say","color":"Whatever color you want"}
Subtitle: This appears under the title. However, in order for the subtitle to appear, you MUST have a title. The usage for this is the same as the title, but the text is a bit smaller.
Reset: Resets whatever title is currently on the screen and gets rid of it.
Times: If you want your title to appear for a certain amount of time, then for example, do /title @a times 10 80 10. The numbers stand for fade in, stay, and fade out, but in TICKS, not second. A tick is approx. a tenth of a second, so if you wanted a two second fade in time, for example, you would put 20.
AVAILABLE COLORS: (this is how you type them into the command block or chat bar)
white
gray
dark_gray
black
red
dark_red
gold
yellow
green
dark_green
aqua
dark_aqua
blue
dark_blue
light_purple
dark_purple
Thanks for reading my tutorial!
If you were reading the /title part only and wanted how to know how to make different parts of the text different colors, then that is included in the /tellraw section. Thanks!
