The WinRAR method is for absolute offline/no internet connection use, or for people like me (for now at least) who use those "other" launchers, if you get what I mean. It just changes the default Steve skin in the game files to whatever you decide to use. But yea, it's never usually a WinRAR thing for the average player.

3. Go to 'Change your look in Minecraft' and upload skin!
