Hello everyone im gonna show a little trick on how to easily get a map or resource pack. It's a little hard because this site has so much godamn lag (I'm using my iPod). So anyway let's start
1. Downloading
first you need to get the map or resource pack from a website. I will suggest 9minecraft.net. People tell me it has more glitches in the products but I think it has way better quality then let's say planetminecraft.
2. Download links
so personally I use these download links: media fire and adf.ly. They are pretty good and well used. If you use 9minecraft I suggest not using the links like dl4.9minecraft.net because they open up a bunch of windows filled with crap on your browser. It doesn't affect the quality it's still a good map/pack but it's just annoying. Plus they have innapropriate ads. Not just dl4 but files.9minecraft.net and all those other 9minecraft ones.
3. The most important part
if you're new to maps and packs youll notice that 9minecraft gives a tutorial on how to get maps/packs. And it's not very clear. When it says extract file it means you need to unlock the file. To start the fire will always have these extensions: .zip .rar or .dmg. 9minecraft almost always has .zip. Occasionally if you look up a map or pack on Google it will have .rar. ive discovered that most minecraft add ons you look up on google have .dmg. I hate these files because they're complicated to install. If a file is .exe it's a piece of crap. Never get exe files. Now the real extracting part. unlocking the file. For Mac users when you download the file it says what application you'd like to open it with. How many have chosen minecraft? Do not make that mistake again. It will just glitch out your worlfs. The real way is to use a program that undoes these files. Macs have a built in one called archive utility. it instantly undoes files with .zip for the extension. If you want a program macs that does rar files get the unarchiver. It does zip too. It's really good trust me. Wondows you should get a program called 7-zip. If you don't trust me that it's legit lets just say it's on cnet.
4. Game directory
so you've unlocked the file. Drag the folder to your desktop that got extracted and then load up minecraft launcher. click edit profile and then hit open game Dir. Then all these weird folders come up. The one you want to find is the saves folder if u got a map. Drag your map folder into it and then open up minecraft and play it. Resource packs do the same except drag it into respurcepacks folder. To get to your resource pack go into options while on minecraft and hit resource packs. Then u can choose one.
Mod are much more complex. Mods aren't supported by mojang which minecraft wiki clearly states. Sorry but I'm not gonna do mods.
