This doesnt work for me. I had a working forge profile, added the optifine.jar to the mdos folder, put in those exact arguments, and still got a crash.
This installation instrucions probably are outdated. At least it dosen't work for me...
Very True^^
I just Tested this and it worked Flawlessly, I have found that all you really have to do is install forge, then copy Optifine jar file into the mod directory, all those other steps are unneeded (Win8.1/x64) Minecraft 1.7.10 You still have to have the most recent Versions (Newest Stable Version is fine)
1.8 forge isnt out yet so i have no clue if it works or not but im sure it does. this thread will help out allot when 1.8 forge comes out

Here is a easier version of how to install Optifine into Forge.
1. Download Forge and Optifine but make sure they are compatible with the same version.
2. Open the Forge installation and install
3. Run Minecraft with Forge and exit
4. Press Windows key and R together and type %appdata%
5. Go to .minecraft folder and click the mods file
6. Drag or paste the Optifine file into it and you are done!
that is what i did but for mac
its command+shift+g then click on the minecraft folder then mods folder then drag it in the mods folder i don't think i got the fps boost tho unfortunately
Thanks you for making this
