That's what happened to me. -.- I freaking hate Optifine, why is it so hard to download?! I've been working on this for HOURS. I'm to the point of having an anurism. Here's what mine said:
Gave up trying to download http://repo.maven.ap...iler-2.10.2.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'
Couldn't download http://repo.maven.ap...rary-2.10.2.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'

This tutorial is outdated for minecraft 1.6.4. Install the latest version of Forge using it's installer. When it installs it creates the "Mods" folder in the .minecraft folder. Copy the latest version of the Optifine .jar to this Mods folder. That's it! Done. If Optifine gets updated, just remove the older version from the Mods folder and put in the new version. Simple as that.
first install optifine using the new installer
then change the name of the folder, jar and json to 'x.x.xForge-x.xx.x.xxx' and use the forge installer for the version you renamed the folder too
Hey I tried this and i follow all the steps carefully and i came up with this

Then i went to a different forum and downloaded 2 files called scalla-library and scalla-complier but when i run minecraft it doesnt show up, any idea how i can do this?
Take another look at the instructions. Did you delete the META-INF folder from the forge file or the optifine file? It says to remove it from the forge file (it was a little unclear). That might fix it

I have a Youtube Channel. Not forcing you to check it out, just kinda... throwing it out there.

Take another look at the date of the post you replied to.
That said, there is also another way you can install Optifine into Forge that has the benefit of not directly modifying the jar (not even having to delete META-INF); you add Optifine as a library, editing the JSON to do so; this also makes it easy to update or remove without having to reinstall Forge.
(I've also used this method to install base-class edit mods into Forge, due to the ease of updating/changing the mods; this worked for both cases in 1.6.2 at least, although I haven't used Forge on any later versions but I assume it still works the same)
OMG thank you so much but this is the problem though. You said you can download ANY version of optifine. But the version of Optifine and Forge have to be the SAME to make it work.
Thank you for doing this tutorial (if it works like everyone says, even better) but, do I need to download the exact forge version you specified? thanks
EDIT: Nevermind, read through comments, my question was essentially already answered
Thank you so much sir/madam ( lol ) this has helped me finally play a awesome custom map with secret rooms mod! I have been trying for hours (not literally) and I found your page, copied and pasted the sentence, and Boom it all of a sudden works! Diamonds to you... .

This doesnt work for me. I had a working forge profile, added the optifine.jar to the mdos folder, put in those exact arguments, and still got a crash.
I recommend you to use the newest Forge Version so that it can download the 2 Recommended Libraries.
RECOMMENDED.

I don't know why you are asking.
then change the name of the folder, jar and json to 'x.x.xForge-x.xx.x.xxx' and use the forge installer for the version you renamed the folder too
hoped that helped
work. I knew it wouldn't.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
no sig yay
