If you are anything like me, you want to really get into modding.
Because it's awesome.
But anyways, how do you go about making a mod? My first advice: use Forge. My second: use this tutorial.
You may have noticed the lack of 1.7 modding tutorials around the web. I did. So that is why I'm making a tutorial for 1.7.
Now, the moment you've all been waiting for - the tutorial
Step 0 : Know Java

Also download eclipse.
Step 1 : Setting up Forge
First, download Forge here. Make sure you get the "SOURCE" version Go to a nice folder that you'll remember and make a new folder called "development" or "modding." Make another folder in there called "forge." Save the file here. Now, go to the "development" folder and Shift+Right click on the "forge" and open the command prompt there. Please don't say to me "I use Mac!" because I will tell you to...just open command prompt. Redirect yourself to "forge". Now type
gradlew setupDecompWorkspace
It'll take a bit of time, but then it will be done. Now, in command prompt, type
gradlew eclipse
and then it's going to install all the Eclipse things.
Okay, good, you've gotten this far. Make a folder called "eclipse" in the dev folder. Now use that as your workspace. Now set up a new project in Eclipse. Call it "Minecraft" and have it be linked to the "forge" folder. If there are errors run
Because it's awesome.
