I've been barking up that tree ever since 1.6.1 was released. Because of that, I have now lost hope.
:'(
updating is the easy part. getting the textures to work, now that I still havn't worked out
all I know is that the textures need to be in a assets folder instead of mods so basically
[assets/(dir_name)/textures/items|blocks/???.png
but the code for initializing the textures is all weird

Hey Scmowns your tutorials are just so awesome you have helped me so much and now i have created my first mod! But could you do more tutorials on the forge like adding mobs and dimensions and stuff? Thank you so much!

How many times must I point out your grammar?
'An' is used for when the word afterwards starts with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u). For the rest, 'A' is used!
ugh...
Not quite. You only use the article an when the next word starts with the pronunciation of a vowel, e.g., hour. Furthermore, you never use apostrophes to indicate a word or letter that you are referencing; you italicize the word or letter.
tried that but this appears when opening the game
TextureManager.createTexture called for file mods/Squirtle/textures/items/sapphirebow_pull_0.png, but that file does not exist. Ignoring
And you're sure that your sapphirebow_pull_0.png is in the right folder and directory?
My post was definitely not meant for you, man; it was meant for TXX59. I'd never correct you because you're trying your best, and I think you're doing great. :3
should i place the textures in the mods folder from jars?
Mmmmm, ya know... I'm not entirely sure. I think that would be the place to put them. But if you can find another mods folder, might as well put them in there, too, to be safe. Then, make sure that works, and take them out of each one-by-one just to see which one they have to go in! Sound like a plan?
i created a 'mods' folder in minecraft.jar and in the mods folder another one named items but its the same thing even though the errors dont appear anymore
if its forge 1.6.1 or 1.6.2
what you are supposed to do is create an assets folder in
forge\mcp\src\minecraft then inside assets create another folder named as you mod name or modid after that inside the modid folder you create an item or block folder depending what the mod is
Where do i put my textures and how do i code so that its recognised by minecraft

i put it with the other items in jars/bin/minecraft.jar/textures/items
Not sure why people always toss these in the jars..
1. Go to forge/mcp/src/minecraft/
2. Create an assets folder
3. Inside assets, create a folder named the modid of your mod. My YoutubeMod has a youtubemod folder.
4. Inside of youtubemod create a textures folder.
5. Inside the textures folder create an items folders.
Final path: forge/mcp/src/minecraft/assets/modid/textures/items

Curse PremiumYou need to do "ModID:sapphirebow_pull_0" because the way you have it right now it is searching in the default vanilla textures for that texture

Oh, well that might be the problem. The file path it gave you (mods/etcetc...) is where you need to put it. It is looking there after all.
