I know how to have multiple installs, heh. I think I have like... four or five at this point. Aether mod... my own mix of awesome mods... and so on.
But, good to know that the bedrock is moved down. That's the main thing - I have several quarries that would be wonderful to just continue, rather than having to spread out and dig more. They're kind of an eyesore after all, and if I expand too much more, I'll encroach on my Capital's land.
Plus, way down there, didn't you guys add in Diamond Blocks or something?
Cool, lots of people don't. :wink.gif: Well, Robinton did make a Patch for CC a while back, for 1.44, that will put solid diamond block deposits beneath -1600. I don't know if it will work for the newest versions but it might be worth a try. It's in the OP CC Downloads section, in it's Extra's section.
Also; the Zeppelin Mod, which is completely compatible with Cubic Chunks, now has an Elevator control block. So you can build an Elevator to Hell, heh heh. :wink.gif: I have Install instructions for Zeppelin & CC & modifying the Zeppelin config in the OP Support Tools & Mods section.
An elevator huh... I might have to get that when the mod is updated. I mean, a spiral staircase or a ladder going down twenty thousand layers... that would take freaking hours just to go down.
Although it does give me some interesting building ideas... multiple cities stacked and staggered around a central elevator spire, much like how my current world is build along a river that heads to the ocean.

I must say; you have a very intriguing sounding city. I hope to see screens someday. :wink.gif:
btw: The Zeppelin Mod has had Elevator Control Blocks since 1.7.3.0.11, so you can use them with a current build of CC if you wish. And Zeppelin does have 1.8x builds.

Well, let me say from the start that its mostly in the planning stages at the moment, heh. I have the plot of land I want, and a functioning slime dungeon for Sticky Pistons, but nowhere near the amount of cobblestone I need.
The main idea, though, is something reminiscent of the Imperial City from Oblivion. Rather, a circular outer wall, built with 4 awesome 4x4 piston doors (one at each compass direction), then a massive spire tower in the exact center that goes as high as possible. That's where Cubic Chunks would help out... it would let me make a tower that's taller than the city will be wide, heh. I also have some nice plans for a cool ballroom floor design, but I'll neaed a metric ass-ton of iron, gold, and lapis to do it (uses blocks of each... I built it on a multiplayer server a while ago and it looked awesome with the standard texture pack).
Suffice to say, this world will be my masterpiece, since that's only my Capital. Got some great landscape in this seed to build on, including a 3 block thick 'bridge' between two tall plateaus from which I could build a hanging city or something.
But, when I get some progress done, there will be pics. I'll try to remember posting some here for ya, heh - especially if CC catches up to 1.8 (or whatever version the game is up to)... which is likely. I work slow.

Aha! Thanks. In fact, I've run out of space in the OP yet again.. There's also a bug here where after a post reaches some length the underline code no longer works, at least towards the later parts of the post.
But I'll look at that typo. There are other parts of the OP and 2nd OP that I want to rewrite too but I've not had much time lately.
It looks like Robinton slipped a little something extra into the Cubic Chunks Height Mod 1.5.2 Final version. It seems that he has gone ahead and fully rolled sevenfour's 'Extreme Increased View Distance mod' method into 1.5.2! It is Off by default, which it needs to be, but can be turned on in the normal options.txt file in the .minecraft root.
When you enable this setting every View mode in-game will be affected. And by affected I mean each mode's view distance will become 4x that modes view distance! w00t!
* Also; your FPS will drop dramatically! And the time to render to the new view limits will take longer. There really isn't much that can be done about that since this is a Full Raw chunk/block rendering just like Minecraft normally does except on an exponentially larger scale. This mode was added as an toggleable option so that people would have a way now, even if slow, of enjoying a High Quality Grander scale view of their large creations and worlds. It will likely be most used for High Quality Screen-shots. :wink.gif:
** Robinton will still be working on a compressed-chunk far-view feature that should allow closer to normal fps for normal play but with a still grand scale view. :smile.gif:
Below are the View distances listed on sevenfour's View mod thread. He says the numbers represent the Diameter view distance around the player, in front of and behind. When looking at the numbers it still seems like 4x might be an approximation in some cases.
Render distance with mod (blocks):
Far: 2048
Normal: 1536
Short: 1024
Tiny: 512
Below is the setting in the options.txt file that you will change to "true", without quotes, in order to activate Far-View. use74sFarViewMod:false
Also remember that the following setting for the Cubic Chunks Mod is also still in the options.txt file: showCoordInfo:true
That's the F4 Coordinates Info mod that Robinton has had in CC since perhaps the beginning. I would leave this on unless you need F4 for something else.
** btw: With one ancient computer I tested this on the modified "Short" setting was the highest I could push the view without black screening. :wink.gif:
++ Again, Thank You sevenfour for your help and generosity with this!! :smile.gif: And Thank You Robinton for adding it to your Mod! :smile.gif:
[EDIT]
Here is an example screen-shot I took with view at "Short" and the FarView mode changed to "true".
* If you use the Windows OS; Easily run different versions of Minecraft, or different Mod combinations, in separate folders with no swapping! Just use a separate short-cut link for each one. :smile.gif: This [ Video ] shows how. And this [ Post ] shows a text example.
-- This is a great way to have a separate folder install of Minecraft just for your Higher Worlds! I am doing this with different versions of the Cubic Chunks Height Mod for testing and it works perfectly!
I understand there isn't a version for 1.8 just yet. Assuming I just want to use Cubic Chunks, and maybe want abit of extra terrain generation, up to a certain height, and also increase the *sky roof limit*, so I can fly (with the Zeppelin mod) above said terrain generation. How do I go about doing that?
Heck, what if I only want to push the sky's limit so I can build/fly higher (with Zeppelin, because flying is capped out because your craft cannot exceed the build height limit)?

Ok, I might not fully understand everything that you are trying to find out so let me know if I miss anything. :wink.gif:
1. The good news is that the version of Cubic Chunks for MC beta 1.8.1 should be out very soon, there is already an experimental version for it available in Robinton's thread but I wasn't linking to it in OP because it's not really usable yet, or perhaps it is but the problems people were having were because some dependencies for Forge 1.1.1 were accidentally left in this test version and that wasn't realized until just recently. You can give it a try but understand that there are some known issues with this version atm. :wink.gif: [EDIT] Added to OP [/edit]
2. If you would like to play with the CC version for MC beta 1.7.3 right now there is info that will help make it easy for you at the top of the OP (Original Post) in this thread.
3. Let me address the Zeppelin Height limit first: For MC 1.7.3, starting with Zeppelin 0.10, you can change it's height limit in it's config file. I've posted instructions for this under the Zeppelin section of this threads Support Tools & Mods section. :smile.gif: Even better news: Zeppelin 0.17, for MC 1.8.1, now automatically detects the height of the world you are using it in so you don't have to change anything! Those guys kick ass! :biggrin.gif:
Just please remember; Once you start using a Cubic Chunks version for MC 1.8.1 you will need to take into account, if following the above linked Zeppelin/CC install Instructions, that the following will need to be done too for the newer versions of Zeppelin: "(0.14+ only) Extract the rp.class from mod_Zeppelin-client.zip, and put it in your minecraft.jar"
4. Regarding Terrain: Starting with Cubic Chunks v1.5.2 it's Terrain Generator can now make terrain that goes higher than y=128. After you install the mod then run Minecraft once it will now generate a file in the .minecraft folder called "BiomeTerrainModSettings.ini", or in the patched & newer versions "CubicChunksSettings.ini". This is due to some of the PhoenixTerrianMod having been made to work with Cubic Chunks. You can adjust the settings in that file, with any text editor, and affect the max terrain height and other aspects of the terrain. Please understand that everything about the Terrain Generator is still under development and subject to change, but what is there is now fully Cubic Chunks compatible.
There is a link in the Terrain Generator section of the OP to some beginning info on that .ini file.
* You always have the option of taking a vanilla world and converting it into a Cubic World. Understand though that any new chunks you generate in that world once it is cubic will be made by the CC Terrain Generator and not look at all the same. Options for selecting different terrain generators are being explored for the future though, and even now different "Plug-in" Terrain Generators could be developed by modders if they wish.
** I believe that the patched version of v1.5.2 and newer can have a "CubicChunksSettings.ini" file inside of a specific World Save folder that will over-ride the settings in the global .minecraft folder copy of that file just for that specific world, so you can keep that world's Terrain settings inside of it's own folder. :smile.gif:
Thank you for replying so fast! You've definitely answered all my questions, pardon my inability to explain what I need.
I understand you can change the 'height limit' in Zeppelin's cfg file, but with vanilla worlds. The world height is 128? (forgive me if I'm wrong) and the config is limited to 128 because the world y limit is prevent more blocks from being placed if you get what I mean, Zeppelin will not be able to move the craft upwards beyond the limit. I was warned about increasing the figure because I might run into issues/crashes or even corruption to the save file. And it's safer to just use Cubic Chunks.
Anyway. I guess I'll wait for the 1.8 release before I tinker with it. Great response, cleared issues up for me because I was abit confused with the OP to start with. Thanks!

No problem. Yeah, the vanilla vertical size of worlds is 128, from y = 0 to y =128 with sea-level generally being around y = 64. So you effectively have around 64 or less blocks above normal ground level to play with in a vanilla world.
And yes, you don't want to raise the Zeppelin height limit in a vanilla world, but you DO want to raise it when Using Cubic Chunks with it, changing it to 32752 should be safe. In fact, the Cubic Chunks Height Mod is the reason that config setting was added to the Zeppelin Mod in the first place! :smile.gif: But yes, with 1.8.1 and Zeppelin 0.17 you won't even have to worry about changing that setting anymore anyway. :wink.gif:
+ Cubic Chunks1.5.3x2 Test 2 for Minecraft b1.8.1 is out!
It needs Modloader & Forge 1.1.1 for now but those dependencies will be removed in the final version, while still allowing them to be added if you wish. Several bugs have been fixed since the Test 1 version.
[ EDIT] There appear to be some world generation crash bugs. Please remember folks, these test versions of the first 1.8.1 version of Cubic Chunks are expected to be buggy. Don't expect to use them full time yet. :wink.gif:
[ EDIT ] I recommend waiting for the next Test version.
On the World save converter, I've converted a save file and it says "all chunks processed" but I can't figure out what to do next. I can't see the new world that it has supposedly created. Can anyone help me?
At this time you must: (From the included Readme1.X.txt file)
"7. When it says "All chunks processed", copy the level.dat, level.dat_old, and session.lock files from your old world to your new world.
8. Run Minecraft... "
It's also in the Walk-though I wrote for it at the bottom of the World Save Converter section of the OP. :wink.gif:
And yes, I will continue bugging Robinton about having the program auto-copy those files for us. :smile.gif:
Hopefully that works for you.
Here are a couple newer beta versions for 1.5.2+ versions of the Save Converter. Probably best to use the newer version of these two if 1.4.0 doesn't work for you. 1.5.2 format CC worlds include a little more data in them than older versions, though the mod should auto-update older ones on it's own anyway.
Save Converter 1.5.0 [ 2011-09-30 ] - 1st to support new CC 1.5.2 save format, also has entries for Minecraft Extended Height format worlds but they aren't active yet. New Menu selection format!
Save Converter 1.5.1 [ 2011-10-21 ] - The Minecraft Extended Height format support for linear chunk worlds like 256 and such has been added, but is untested at this time.
[EDIT]
Save Converter 1.5.2 [ 2011-10-27 ] - Should auto-copy the final 3 files at end of conversion. Also supports the new CC ExtendedIDs format.
Here is a run down and links for everything that needs to be or can be downloaded and Installed in order to get the Cubic Chunks Mod v1.5.3x4 Test 4 up and running. It's what I've posted in this thread's news section. These can also all be downloaded from the normal Cubic Chunks Downloads section here.
[2011-10-30]
There are new needed Patches for the Cubic Chunks Mod v1.5.3x3 Test 4. You don't need to reinstall T4 or the 4096 Patch, just add these Patches: RenderGlobalFix, TreeAndAirFix, TickUpdateFix. Here is the current full list, in order of installation, of all files needed for the T4 build:
* The 4096 Patch has the exact same filename as the Cubic Chunks Mod. Please add 4096 to it's name, or change it in some way, when downloading it so that it doesn't overwrite the CC Mod.
** After those are all installed there still seems to be a bug where a bunch of torches can appear under some circumstances. This is known about and being worked on.

+ CC 1.5.3x4 Test 4 & 4096 Block ID's patch for it are now available for MC b1.8.1. May still need Modloader & Forge 1.1.1 for now.
Download links are also in the Experimental DL's section of the Cubic Chunks Installation and Downloads section of the OP here.

Modloader 1.8.1 -> Forge 1.1.1 -> CC 1.5.3x4 T4 -> 4096 Patch (Optional) -> RenderGlobalFix -> TreeAndAirFix -> TickUpdateFix -> Done!
