Well, thanks for the quick reply! It works now, so yeah.
I guess its time to try the Phoenix Terrain Generation version...
I suppose that leads into my only other question: will you guys be releasing a CubicChunks mod with updated terrain generation? Or, if you have (other than the Phoenix mix), how do you get that to happen?
Also... is there some NPC or something added in this mod? I towered up to check the height, and some dude called 'Robinton' spawned there... scared the crap outta me...
I'm glad you got it working. I wouldn't bother with that old merged PTM version, it doesn't make terrain above 128. Please wait a day or two I think for a patch version that you can add directly on top of the current main CC Mod. Then you will really be able to start playing around with the terrain. :wink.gif:
Robinton is the name of the Mod's author. Were you playing SSP?
oh my days! love the way you can see far landscape up and down now really adds the next dimension to the game.
brilliant to hear about the news on the new height increase ,this is mindblowingly fantastic!
After installing this mod looks like Robinton decided to give me a visit on SSP O.o
Can someone explain why/what/who is that? It scared the crap out of me.
Holy Carp! Thanks for making a video of it. I wonder if it has something to do with a weird line in the v1.44 Changelog:
1.4.4: Increased the height from 4096 blocks to 65504 blocks. Added rmb.
I had joked with him in the past about R-Mob, kinda like a version of Herobrine. It looks like he may have actually made it! :biggrin.gif: And you got video evidence! I would be careful attacking it though...
Thanks for the update! I'll be waiting anxiously for that patch then. You have no idea how much I want to build cities into the sides of those massive canyons.
Need help. I follow the save converter things, but i dont get locations, or converting, or nothing. please walk me through. I am on windows vista, and using WinRAR.
Hi again! I see you got the converter working. I will explain it as well as I can below. Once you have done it the first time it will be easy afterwards. In fact it should get even easier in the future as I keep bugging Robinton to make it easier. It was originally a dos tool with no GUI until I kept harassing him, heh heh. :wink.gif:
SaveConverter Instructions
[EDITx2] + Extract the downloaded zip file, don't just open it. The SaveConverter.jar, any .jar for that matter, must be it's own file in your Operating System just like your minecraft.jar is for Java to see it and be able to run it. It cannot run while inside of a compressed file. [/EDIT]
* I'd recommend copying the SaveConverter.jar directly into your .minecraft saves folder and running it from there. In fact that's what I do because it makes using the file selector a lot easier and faster when the worlds are in the same folder.
In the saveconverter window, when you've double-clicked (run) the file, the top of the two selectors is for the world you want to convert and the bottom one is for where to copy it to.
First, not using the saveconverter, I would create a new folder in your .minecraft saves folder and name it whatever you want the converted world folder to be named. Say the original world folder is named "World-1", you could called the converted one "World-1_CC64k" so that you can keep track of it.
Then manually copy three files from the original world folder into the new folder: "level.dat" & "level.dat_old" & "session.lock". Actually, the instructions say to copy the files after the conversion, it might be fine to copy them first though.
** Now run the SaveConverter.jar that you have already copied into the saves folder. If you are converting a Vanilla World into a Cubic World then:
Leave the top selector reading "Vanilla" but change the Bottom one to "CubicChunks", it's a drop down menu. Then click the little box on the right side of the top selector line. It will open a file dialog that will let you select the World folder that you want to convert, in this example that would be "World-1". Since you moved the converter into the save folder you should see all the world folders right away. Just click on the folder name "World-1" once to select it and then click the [Open] button at the bottom of the dialog. The dialog should close and now have the path to the folder you want to convert.
Now click on the little box on the right side of the lower selector. The same dialog will open again. Now select/click once the folder that you want to put the converted world into. In this case it would be "World-1_CC64k", then click the [Open] button at the bottom of the dialog. The dialog should close and now have the path to the folder you want to put the converted world into.
*** Now just click the [GO] button beneath the selectors and wait! :smile.gif:
You will start to see it saying things about converting chunks line by line in the white lower part of the window. It will update the status every 1000 converted chunks. When it is done it will scroll the window down if it went that far and say something about it being Complete.
If you haven't moved those 3 files over yet then do it now and you are done!
+ Just make sure to not go into your Vanilla Worlds with Cubic Chunks installed unless you want them to start converting too. If that happens you can just use the converter as above but just reverse the order of the types in the left side boxes. "CubicChunks" in the top one and "Vanilla" in the bottom one.
** Always back-up all worlds & the .minecraft folder before installing the Cubic Chunks Mod and converting worlds.
btw: Would you mind please deleting the quoted part of your first post in here, it uses a lot of space. Thanks! :smile.gif:
You need to extract the zip, not just open it. You are clicking the SaveConverter.jar from within winrar, so it will pull the jar apart.
The jar needs to be it's own file sitting in your OS file system for Java to see it and run it. You can't run if from inside of a compressed .zip file. Winrar might make it look like you've opened the zip into a folder but you haven't.
If you still open it the same way then drag & drop it out of that window over to somewhere else. If you had tried to put the jar into your .minecraft save folder like I recommended then it would have run because it wouldn't be inside of the zip anymore.
...wow.
Drag into a new city folder.
Right click.
A open with thing comes up.
Opens with java binary.
Works.
I appreciate your efforts, and am sure you are sick of me :l
I'm glad you've gotten past that barrier. Learning that will help you with many things on your computer in addition to just minecraft. I hope the rest works out for you too! :smile.gif:
You don't need to delete the entire save folder, just that one world folder "cc" that was corrupted. Have you closed minecraft or is it still running? It must be closed if you are deleting a file it's still using.

Your Vanilla world, if you ever played in it with Vanilla Minecraft, must have those files in it's folder. Do you have "hidden files" on in your folder settings or "don't show file extensions"? Or do you have 3 files in the folder with just the first part of those filenames? If you do then copy those over.
You know. You can just create a new world with Minecraft when Cubic Chunks is installed. You don't have to convert a Vanilla world unless you want to.

Today Robinton has provided a patch that when added after Cubic Chunks v1.44 or higher will remove the R-Mob "Robinton" AI character that sometimes appears in-game.
* He says that Future versions of the R-Mob will appear less frequently, be even more helpful with killing Creepers and other bad guys in your area, and not interfere with beds/sleeping.
The patch is available in the "Extras!" section of the OP Installation & Downloads area if you really need it.
Complaints Noted. As of the next update, I will no longer interfere with sleep. I'm also taking advanced Creeper-defense courses, to stop them from blowing holes in your landscape. And I've decided to return to the sky when things start to get boring in a world...
download this file and patch it in over CC. It's the spawning code from V1.4.2, just before I added in RMob.
While I'm at it anyway, I'll severly nerf the already rare spawn rate in the next release.
A New Version, v1.45, of both the Cubic Chunks Mod 64kClient and Experimental Server has just been released. They are both available in the usual place in the OP in the Cubic Chunks Installation & Downloads section.
1.4.5: Upgraded rmb. Misc. fixes, including lag fix.
Updated server and client to V1.4.5. I also made RMob appear less often and only on SSP, so if you see a player named Robinton on SMP, it should really be me.
[EDIT]
Also! Today Robinton has added the "iCubePopulator" source code to his Gen_code download in the OP Terrain Generator section.
You are free to use that code in your Mods. It will allow you to affect terrain & ores and even plug-in your own terrain generator to a Cubic Chunks Installation. :smile.gif:
BTW, RMob doesn't pick up items anymore, though he will sometimes give you Red Apples...
He also does 10 hearts of damage to any creeper that's getting ready to explode within 10 blocks of him.
Hope that improves your opinion of him. If not, you can still disable him with the class.
Thanks. :smile.gif:
I bet you learned a lot about AI programming when you worked on the RMob project. Looks like you could have a future in Mob Mods too, which is a good thing considering how many possibilities are opened up by the heights and depths of a Cubic World. I'm especially excited by the idea of deep underground realms with unique mobs. :smile.gif:

The Cubic Chunks Client has been updated to 1.46, the server mod will be updated to 1.46 soon as well.
Changelog: 1.4.6: Moved RMob to its own mod. Fixed wild spinning on startup, Minecart duplication bug, and improved ICubePopulator in SSP.
The RMob has been removed from this version of Cubic Chunks. However; RMob has been recoded a bit and made available for download as an exclusive Cubic Chunks Add-On. It is available in the Extras section of the Cubic Chunks Install & Download section of this thread with more info. Here is how Robinton describes the CC-Add-on RMob's behavior:
He occasionally spawns when you're attacked, never attacks you, wanders around aimlessly killing hostile mobs, greatly resents being attacked (except with fire, for which he'll occasionally give you red apples), and vanishes as soon as you re-load the world.
So; sounds like RMob will kind of be our Guardian Angel. :biggrin.gif: Wait, he likes flames.. hmm. Well, Guardian something anyway. :wink.gif: So if Herobrine does sneak up on you some dark night and starts attacking you, RMob will likely pop in to kick it's butt!
Also; New ICubePopulator Gen functions have been added to the v1.46 CC Client. This will provide even more control and versatility for other mods that will affect the terrain and environment in a Cubic World!
The Gen_Code.zipdownload has been updated with the newest ICubePopulator code. There is even an example mod class called GlassCeiling included in the DL that uses the ICubePopluator interface to affect the environment of a Cubic World in some fascinating ways, heh heh. (Only use it on a test world or a copy of one). This should help with understanding how to use it.
* Related to this is exciting news for the IndustrialCraft (IC) community that uses CC: Alblaka has been kind enough to collaborate with Robinton on a project using the ICubePopulator code Interface that will result in an Add-On mod for CC that will add the custom IndustrialCraft Ore Generation to Cubic Worlds that it is added to. This add-on, when finished, should complete the compatibility between Cubic Chunks & IndustrialCraft that Robinton began when he added extra code directly to CC starting with v1.42 that made it possible, when installing both mods in just the right way, to work together. :smile.gif:
The SimplyHAX collection of mods, of which I have recommended it's Fly Mod portion for testing use, has added a Vision mod (SSP & SMP). This, when activated, allows you to see through nearby walls. It reproduces the effects of the similar Zombe Mod but, like all of the SimplyHAX mods, does so without changing any of notch's classes, so insuring greater compatibility. :smile.gif: This mod does require that ModLoader be present, which if you are successfully using Cubic Chunks then it is. :wink.gif:
- All of the SimplyHAX mods are in one zip file. You just drop it into the "mod" folder in your ".minecraft" folder and you're done. However; if you don't want all of it's mods, then just open it's .zip in the same way as the minecraft.jar and delete the "mod_" classes in it that you don't want. Each class is clearly labeled so you'll know which mod they are.
